Weekly Run Down for 4.13.25-4.21.25: It was supposed to be a Quiet Week…

No races.

No travel.

Yay!

Then on Tuesday, I was told that I had to get to NYC and sub in Jamaica Queens on Wednesday and Thursday. Oy!

I had to quickly make train and hotel reservations and pack.

Oh and cancel chiro appt and dinner with former colleague on Tuesday, cancel race/mentoring on Wednesday and finally cancel a meetup with running friend up from Florida on Thursday.

On another note, did you all get on the AI Barbie bandwagon?

Ha Ha! If only I looked this good.

Last Week –

  • Sunday – A Rest Day after the half marathon the day before. I was supposed to meet up with a running friend that I hadn’t seen for in a while but she had to cancel.  Instead I got a lot done around the house as well as some errands.

Happy Passover if you celebrate

  • Monday – DAY OFF! I started at the gym and then I met the Training Challenge group for a run/walk in the afternoon.

many more runners than in my Wednesday group

Since it was so nice out, I decided to go for a mini hike up at Thacher Park…

many of the trails were closed but the water was flowing…

After because my granddaughter wouldn’t be around for Easter, I stopped by to give her a few gifts.

she loves to color…

Finally, I finished and filed my TAXES! $$$$ 😦

  • Tuesday – WFH today so after I got ready for my unscheduled work trip, I went for a short run in the neighborhood (before it started to rain.)

just a few signs of spring and warm temps…

Then I took the train to Manhattan, checked into my hotel and hopped on the subway to the upper westside to see some tulips.

just the early blooms but lovely anyway… (more pics on IG& FB)

It was so nice out that I decided to head back by walking through Central Park.

lots of runners so FOMO

As I always do, I contacted Cari and we were able to meet and have dinner together.

Finally I walked all the way back to my hotel.

Phew. What a day!

  • Wednesday – Today was the 4th week of mentoring the Training Challenge group. Instead of our normal location, we were meeting at Siena College to participate in a free 1.5 mile race.

Unfortunately I was working in NYC.

After a long day on the feet, I took the subway back to my hotel.

I wanted to run but since I visited Central Park the day before, I wasn’t sure where to go. It was chilly again and very windy so I bagged the run and was just going to meet a college friend for dinner.

Well, she had to cancel so I took the subway downtown and walked along the East River with a stop for some “pink” at Pier 15.

  • Thursday – Day 2 working in Jamaica Queens.

And afterward I headed back to my hotel and then home on the train.

  • Friday – WFH so I was able to get to the gym at lunch.

After work, I had a quick visit with the running friend that I was supposed to see on Thursday night.

Then I had rush home to clean since it was my turn to host mah jongg that evening.

  • Saturday – Long Run and Brunch. Fingers crossed that it wouldn’t rain for once on a Saturday.

So all if a sudden it was summer. I think we skipped spring. Warm and HUMID with showers on the way.

I was able to get some miles done with friends and then meet the walkers for brunch/chatting.

2 solo run/walk miles, 3 with Barbara and then 3 speed drill miles…

And it didn’t rain until we were having brunch.

  • Sunday – Easter Sunday.

The hubby and I plan to out to dinner with my SIL and then have dessert after with the rest of family at my MIL’s.

This Coming Week on the Run –

  • Monday –  run, walk with BFF
  • Tuesday – gym, hair appt.
  • Wednesday – run, mentor the TC
  • Thursday – run, dinner with tennis friends
  • Friday – gym, mah jongg
  • Saturday – Bacon Hill Bonanza 5k + more miles
  • Sunday – gym, pack for NYC and FLORIDA!

This Coming Week on the Blog –

  • Tuesday – Helderberg to Hudson Half Marathon Race Recap
  • Friday – Runfessions

Happy Running! Training for any big or small races this spring? How’s the weather? Any warm temps yet? Please share.

FFF: Why I’m Not Running the NYC Marathon

Are you dreaming of running... - TCS New York City Marathon | Facebook

or 2026 NYC Marathon?

  1. Enter the lottery. (Over 200,000 applied this year and only 2% got accepted.)
  2. Run 9 NYRR races and volunteer at 1.
  3. Raise money for a charity. (There about 500 official charities.)
  4. Run an age qualifying time at a NYRR half or full marathon.
  5. Enter the lottery for a non-NYRR age qualifying marathon.
  6. Enter the lottery for the Virtual Marathon.
  7. Purchase it through an official travel agency.

I’ve qualified every year since 2019 with a NYRR half marathon time.

And I’ve been lucky enough to complete the race in 2019, 2023 & 2024.

I had a guaranteed entry again for this year, as well.

And since I didn’t run any NYRR half marathons this year (I didn’t accept my guaranteed entries for Brooklyn & NYC), I won’t have the opportunity to run the NYCM next year and not likely in the future.

IOW, it wasn’t an easy decision but I’m sure I made the right one.

Here are 5 Reasons why I didn’t accept my Guaranteed Entry to the NYCM:

1.I’ve done it THREE times already.

I’d like to travel more and/or run some different races.

2.The training is so time-consuming.

And I still work full-time.  It’s stressful trying to fit in those weekend long long runs.

3.I want to preserve my “body” and be able to run many more years.

I mean I AM over 70. Nothing hurts and I want to keep that way.

4. It’s expensive – hotel rooms, meals, transportation, etc.

As mentioned above, with that $$, I could travel.  And I don’t have those free hotel rooms anymore.

5. I’m looking forward to being a spectator (for the first time) and supporting my 3 friends who are running it.

They’ve cheered me on and now it’s my turn to return the favor.  It should be fun.

That being said, I think everyone should run this race at least once. It is an amazing experience.

I hope you all get the chance.

2025 Delmar Dash Recap

Events & Things To Do In Delmar, New York on 6th April 2025

April 6, 2025 9:00 AM

It is nice to run a race that is only 10 minutes from your house.

This is my 9th time running this race.

In 2012, I had a broken ankle so I couldn’t run it and in 2017, my back was bothering me so I didn’t run it. Then due to the Pandemic, it was cancelled in 2020 and 2021. I did run it again in 2022 and for some reason, I hadn’t run it that past two years.

Pre-Race Activities and Preparations:

It is a flat course so my times had been fairly decent:

   2022 – 46:08
2019 – 44:53(PR)
2018 – 45:09
2016 – 47:14
2015 – 45:26
2014 – 48:14
2013 – 47:39
2011 –  47:08

I may sound like a broken record but three years later, my expectations were much lower… In fact, a course PW was inevitable. I was expecting more of a 55:xx finish time.

I still didn’t feel totally recovered from my stomach virus. The weather forecast didn’t look great.

And with a half marathon the week after, I needed to be cautious and not get injured.

To save time on race day, I picked up my bib and race shirt the day before.

white? really?

Now only if spring would arrive. It was nice on Monday and Tuesday but I was too sick to run. Then it was either rainy or windy or both the rest of the week. And when it was ok to run, I was working in NYC and didn’t have the time.

It’s also always hard at this time of year to decide what to wear.  Too cold for spring clothes but I am tired of jackets and tights. And then there was rain in the forecast.

With any luck, the rain would stop by race start which was 9 am.

Race Day:

As I mentioned above, I had been suffering from an awful stomach virus and hadn’t eaten much all week.

Since I was racing, I did eat my usual: coffee and oatmeal.

I debated a long time on what to wear. In hindsight, I could have worn a skirt, compression calf sleeves, cap, and a long sleeved shirt but it was still raining when I left the house and so I decided on capris, compression calf sleeves, 2 long sleeved shirts, a beanie and gloves.

I got there early. I knew a few people doing this race so I went inside the school to look for them.

The race started on the street but ended in front of the school entrance

Because of the local half marathon being held next weekend and the lousy weather, there weren’t as many runners as usual. Probably around 120. In past years, there were usually around 300 runners.

It was a little chilly out so we all waited in the gym until the last minute.

For obvious reasons, my only hope for the race was to just to finish the 5 miles pain-free.

And maybe have a little left in the tank (if the weather cooperated) to add in some more miles. Since I had skipped so many runs, I was nervous about completing 13.1 the next weekend.

Well, the rain stopped. Woo Hoo.

We walked down the street to where the race started.

Of course waiting for the race to begin, I was cold.

I lined up with some faster runners (but lost them as soon as the race started. lol)

I forgot that they do not use chip time – just gun time for this race.  I could have lined up closer to the starting line.

I must be there somewhere… probably cut off on the right

I tried to start out fast but not too fast.  Though I never know what this is. And I probably did since my legs seemed to have zero energy today.

There was someone calling out times at each mile.  When I heard my Mile 1 time, I thought they were mistaken (9:xx)

pic from one of my weekday runs several years ago … I often run in these neighborhoods

I think I only made it a little over a mile before I started to feel sick and had to walk.

The course is about 20 turns around the neighborhoods and it is pretty flat.

But every time I tried to run, I felt dizzy and nauseous and so I just walked until the feeling passed.

There was a water stop at mile 2.5 or so and that helped… a little.

I tired with each mile but tried my best to keep it up some semblance of speed when I was running but there was so much walking.

My friends kept getting farther and farther in the distance ahead.  But I wasn’t worried at all about my time.  I just wanted to finish whiteout getting sick.

I was also pretty warm. No rain but lots of humidity and I was definitely over dressed. I took off my gloves right away and by the end, I had to take off my beanie.
And so I just walked and ran and repeated it until the finish line came into view .

I crossed the finish line just under 52 minutes.

It was not chip timed and so they just wrote down your bib number and time on the clock.

so happy to be done!!

Post Race Activities:

This race used to have more sponsors and there were raffles, giveaways and even massages.

There were still nice refreshments: soup, fruit, pastries, coffee, hot cocoa and cake.

I wasn’t the least bit hungry but grabbed some cake (which resulted in sharp stomach pains.)  Eventually I had some hot cocoa and I felt so much better.

The results were posted….

And I came in 3rd in my age group!!  Sometimes you just have to show up.

In fact, with 5 year age group awards and a small crowd, we all won!!

I waited around for the awards ceremony and I was thrilled that it was NOT a medal.  I love something usable.

Additional Race Reflections:

Positives:

    • Nearby (3 miles away from my house)
    • Organized packet pick up the day before and morning of
    • Lots of parking
    • Warm, dry place to wait before and after (middle school gym)
    • Real bathrooms
    • Well organized course, lots of course marshals
    • Tech shirt
    • Glasses as age group awards
    • Flat course
    • Well marked course
    • Free photos (coming soon)

Negatives:

    • Small turnout
    • Gun timed
    • White unisex shirt
    • I felt like crap

Final Stats:

Garmin time

A big PW but expectedly so. But not as awful I thought it would be.

Since this course is flat and near where I live, it is still one of my favorite races and I will run it again next year. I am really happy with my time (considering…)

Since I was training for a half marathon, I felt like I needed to add some miles to the legs.

So I drove to the rail trail.  Lots of runners and bikers were out on this gorgeous day.  I dragged myself through 3 more miles (with lots of walking).

That makes 8 miles for the day… and so Taper Run done!!

Would I recommend this race?

Yes. Absolutely. I hope more runners sign up next year.

Next Up?

Happy Running! How was your weekend? Any running or racing? Do you add on miles to a race to make it a long run? Please share.

Weekly Run Down for 4.6.25-4.13.25: Another Half Marathon!!

Yup, half marathon #3 for 2025!

This one is local and I’ve run it several times before.

I did have high hopes for this downhill course but that was until my training got derailed by a stomach virus…

And the WEATHER!!!!!

Last Week –

  • Sunday – Well, I actually started the week with a 5 mile race.

I had no business running it but I thought I was over that stomach flu.

Well the good news is that it stopped raining just before the race started and I came in 3rd in my age group with a big PW!!

always a treat since it is near where I live…

After a while, I felt better so I decided to add on more miles.  I had a half marathon coming up and my mileage was sorely lacking. I managed to run/walk 3 more miles for a total of 8 miles for the day.

yup, this is the route for my upcoming race…

  • Monday – Since I WFH all week, I hope to get in some gym time most days.

On my way this morning, it was snowing!! WTH.

spring is MIA

The snow didn’t last long and didn’t stick.  I was able to meet Deb after work for a short slow recovery run on the rail trail IN THE RAIN.

The rain was supposed to end but it didn’t and so we got WET!

  • Tuesday – Back to gym but my morning was too busy and so I waited until lunch time to go.

And I took a walk in the mall after work with my BFF.

  • Wednesday – Another busy work day so no gym time but after work, I went for a short run/walk before mentoring the Training Challenge group.

Today was their 3rd week and I joined the run/walk group.

it was chilly but at least the sun was out

  • Thursday – Back to the gym before work…

Stalking the forecast for Saturday’s race and it gets worse every day…

Friday Night – Rain likely before 5am, then rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 34. Northeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Saturday – Rain and snow, becoming all rain after 11am. High near 42. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Friday – Another gym morning and rest day with mah jongg in the evening.
  • Saturday – Helderberg to Hudson Half Marathon!!

Not adequately trained but it was local, a downhill course with lots of familiar faces present. So why not?

The weather!! Very tempted to bail and run it virtually on a nicer day!

Deb, Barbara and I carpooled and parked at the finish and took the bus to the start.

It was snowing when we started and raining when we finished (and I was FROZEN!)

too cold to take any pictures at the finish

But we all finished (I won 2nd in my AG) and then we met our other running friends for brunch.

  • Sunday – Rest Day!

This Coming Week on the Run –

  • Monday –  DAY OFF, gym, run
  • Tuesday – gym
  • Wednesday – run
  • Thursday – run
  • Friday – gym
  • Saturday – Long Run and Brunch
  • Sunday – Easter dinner with the fam

This Coming Week on the Blog –

FFF: Five Things I Look for in My Favorite Running Shoe

TOPOS and Only Topos

My feet matter and I can’t run/race if they hurt…so

Here are 5 Things That are Important to Me in a Running Shoe:

1.Wide Toe Box.

I have bunions!!!

A shoe with a wide toe box has been a game changer.

2. Low Heel Drop.

Less pressure on my toes and more on my heels has seemed to relieve pain from my neuroma.

Image result for Neuroma

3. Pretty Color.

Ok, I do like my clothes to match my shoes!!

4. Comfortable Cushioning.

For long runs and long races, this is key for me.

new “Auras”

5. Affordability.

I have too many shoes so I can’t afford to pay $200 for a pair and so I do look for sales, buy older models and even used ones …

Happy Running! What do you look for in your favorite running shoe? Please share.

A Belated “Happy Blogoversary” to Me

I’ve been blogging since March 25, 2008. That was the DAY that I decided to become a runner.

Well, since then, a lot has changed but some things have not.

I’ll start with what has remained the same:

  • Blogging Goals

My goals haven’t really changed.

I blog to motivate myself to continue running, to keep track of my running and racing and to connect with others who do the same.

  • Posting

I’ve always posted several times a week and if my schedule is busy, I write those posts in advance.

  • Blogger Meetups

I have been fortunate to connect with many bloggers.

Many were local and have become my (virtual) friends even though they no longer blog or run.

Other meet-ups have been with those bloggers who do not live nearby.

13.1 miles

And some meet-ups happen more often than others.

our most recent

Our first of many

  • Race Reviews

I recap each of my races almost as soon as they are over (so I don’t forget the details. ) These recaps are mostly for myself but I have heard that others read them too.

What has changed:

  • Content

Check out my first ever blog post: http://wp.me/pel7R-3

I now post photos. It helps that I abandoned the camera and got a smartphone so it’s easier. Plus with the apps available, you can edit, make collages and be as creative as you have time for.

  • Link-ups

When I first started, there were very few. I used to write posts called Two for Tuesday, Wordless Wednesday, Three Things Thursday and Foto Friday, etc.

Now they are a bunch of fabulous link-ups. (Weekly Run Down, Tuesday Topics,  Fit Five Friday, Runfessions, Ultimate Coffee Date, etc.) These help attract readers to your blog, as well as, connect you with new blogs.

I’m even now one of the co-hosts

These link-up often suggest topics which makes it easier if you have writer’s block and don’t know what to write about.

  • Product Reviews

I used to get asked to review products pretty frequently. Not much anymore. Probably because there are so many more bloggers out there (with larger readerships than me).

last year and my first review since 2017…

  • Sponsorships

These are competitive too. But in additional to getting discounts on their products, you get connected with a wonderful network of runners who use those products.

I had at one time been an ambassador for Skirt Sports, Legend Compression, Nuun, My Soxy Feet, Zooma, FRW, Maine Marathon…

In recent years, I’ve rarely applied for any… this maybe my only one:

  • My Running

Now I don’t just run 5ks. I used to (hence the title of my blog. )

I have run 72 half marathons and many other distances including 10ks, 15ks and 10 milers.

I’ve even run the NYC Marathon 3 times.

I may be slower but I am more confident as a runner. And though, I don’t know it all, I know a lot more about running than when I started blogging.

  • Other Bloggers

I don’t follow that many blogs. I am selective. Basically because I don’t have the time.

The ones that I do read and comment on are more than fellow bloggers. They are really my virtual friends.

and sometimes you get to meet them in the flesh,

share a hotel room,

or spend a race-cation with them

I admit that after 17 years of blogging, I think about quitting. After all, what else do I have to say? And could I be using the time it takes to write posts on something more valuable?

But I rarely quit on things so you probably will have my blog to read for another 17 years…

Happy Running! How long have you been blogging? When is your blogoversary? What has changed since you started? How long do you plan to blog?

Weekly Run for 3.30.25-4.6.25: Well, at least the week improved…

I am rarely sick but this one was a doozy…

Last Week –

  • Sunday – I had talked my hubby into a NYC trip. The purpose was to see Riverdance at Radio City.

You know me, I try to pack as many things into a day as possible.

We had planned to take the train to Manhattan, then the subway to Union Square to see the Tulips!

170,000 tulips in Union Square: How to get free flower bouquet | FOX 5 New York

After checking into our hotel and grabbing some lunch and we then planned to head to Radio City.

Riverdance Tickets | Radio City Music Hall

We’ve seen this show numerous times but not in recent years and always loved it.

After the show, we had dinner reservations at my favorite (post race) Italian restaurant.

La Masseria | Manhattan | Restaurants

Well, if you read last week’s WRD, you know that on Saturday morning, I came down with a nasty stomach bug.  I had miss my last long run and some other fun planned things.

I was hoping that it was short-lived but on Sunday morning, I felt even worse.

Luckily, my running friends Stan & Sherry were going to NYC as well and they we able to use our tix.

  • Monday – This morning, of course, I had hoped to run in NYC and do some sight seeing with my hubby before we headed home on the train.

Instead I was home still feeling miserable!!!!!!!!

And it got up to 75 degrees!! Can you believe it? Finally a beautiful day in the NE!!

we only get one nice day a week it seems…

  • Tuesday – Day 4 of the stomach bug. And it left as mysteriously as it came.

I woke up feeling fine.  I even had my first cup of coffee since Friday.

Happily I was working from home just in case but I felt well enough to go set up for class in the afternoon and then go see my granddaughter.

she loves books!

  • Wednesday – Teaching live today so I started with Starbucks and ended with a run.

Today was the 2nd week of mentors the Training Challenge group. I was glad that it was only week 2 and there was a lot of walking involved (which I could barely handle.)

As soon as I arrived, it started to rain… as we were running, it started to sleet… oh fun but at least today it was not windy.

the beginner group did 1:30/2:00 run walk intervals

  • Thursday – Back to Manhattan but this time for work. As I’ve mentioned, my work trips to NYC may be ending so I planned to squeeze as much activity in the days that I’m here.

After checking into my hotel, I hopped the subway to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens – Cherry Blossom time, right?

But actually there were very few cherry blossoms but boy were the Magnolia trees gorgeous. And it was a lovely day to stroll the gardens.

After, I met Elizabeth back in Manhattan  to see the Impressionist exhibit. It was actually VR and my first experience.  It was so cool.  I highly recommend if you get the chance.

And finally there was dinner with Cari. Always fun to hang out with my NYC friends.

  • Friday – Just working in Jamaica Queens and the train home in the evening.
  • Saturday – Long Run and Brunch.

One week until my next half marathon and a race the next day so it was supposed to be a relaxed taper run.

With the threat of heavy rain, we cancelled.

The “old” me night have run anyway since I had a big race on the horizon. But at the current time, my running mojo has left. (I’m sure it will return when the weather gets better…)

Instead, I dragged myself to the gym since I hadn’t been there what seemed like forever. I even did 15 laps on the track (alternating running & walking).

Then I went to pick up my race bib/shirt, get my nails done and do some retail therapy (at the dollar store, 5 below & Marshalls).

yes. white. blech!

  • Sunday – Delmar Dash (5 mile race). In the rain? And I may even add on some more miles…weather permitting.

This Coming Week on the Run –

  • Monday –  run
  • Tuesday – gym
  • Wednesday – run
  • Thursday – run
  • Friday – gym
  • Saturday – Helderberg to Hudson Half Marathon
  • Sunday – gym

This Coming Week on the Blog –

  • Tuesday – Happy Blogoversary (belatedly)
  • Friday – Things I Look for in a Running Shoe

Ultimate Coffee Date for April 2025

It’s that time of the month…

in different places (like DC & NYC)

time to join up with Coco & Deborah for their ultimate coffee date.

1.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that with all that’s going on in the world, DC was not my preferred place to visit (I had signed up for this race before the election.)

But it worked out well and I really enjoyed my visit in the nation’s capital.

2. Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I even had a blogger meet-up or two in DC.

I had already met Deborah in NYC & Portland, ME but I had NEVER met Coco.

3.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that with every race I run, my finish time expectations get lower.  It’s all mental.  I’m a work in progress.

I don’t expect any PR (2:06) finish times but I’d love to get back to sub 2:27.

4.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I’m back in NYC for work today.

For my last time?

Cari says I’m the like the girl who cried wolf.

Just in case, I spent yesterday enjoying the city.

5.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that whether or not I get to travel for work to NYC, you will still see me here.

I have several fun/race trips planned: June 6-7, July 13-14, Sept 12-13, Nov. 2-3 to name a few.

Happy Running! What’s new with you?  Please share.

TT: 2025 1st Quarter Update

MY TOPIC TODAY is: 2025 UPDATE.

Wow, THREE months have gone by pretty quickly.

Things have not been perfect and so there’s definitely room for improvement.  Of course, many good things happened… and some not so good things.

AND there’s still NINE months left!!

The best is yet to come (as they say…)

Running-Related:

  •  233 Miles (would have been 15 more if I hadn’t gotten sick recently.)

No annual goal this year…

Cold, snowy, icy, windy = not the best weather for running.

It’s all ok.  I will run as many miles as I am able.

As always, my favorite miles were those with friends…

  • 6 Races (1 -10K, 3 -3.75M, 2 -13.1)

I’m pretty sure they were all PWs or COURSE PWs… (but I’m trying to be positive here…)

  • 3 NEW Races

I love seeing new scenery and/or running new routes…

  • DNSed 1 Race

It was a free local race (Winter Series #3) and I had a work commitment.

  • Registered for 13 More Races (5-5Ks, 1 – 4M, 1- 5M, 2- 10Ks, 1- 10M, 3-13.1)

I’m super excited about the new ones (bolded)…

    1. Helderberg to Hudson Half Marathon
    2. Bacon Hill Bonanza
    3. Delmar Dash
    4. Tropicool 5k
    5. Miles Along the Mohawk
    6. Run for Women
    7. Mastercard NYC Mini 10k
    8. Indian Ladder Farms Hard Cider 5k
    9. Silks and Satins
    10. Firecracker 4
    11. Run 4 the River Half Marathon
    12. Squirrel Stampede 10k
    13. Lake Placid Half Marathon
  • 4 Blogger Meet-ups

Only Coco was a new one…

So who can I meet in the next 9 months?

  • Mentored 1 Running Groups

Race for Women Training Challenge group which just began and will end on 5/31.

It’s always rewarding to help others reach their goals.

Fitness-Related:

  • 0 Stationary Bike Rides

I had great aspirations but I seem to only get on the bike when I am injured.

  • Approx. 25-30 Gym Visits

When I was home, I tried to go to the gym on non-running days which was usually 3 times each week.

  •  0 Hiking Mondays

Working full-time so no longer always an option to have the day off. But it’s a great alternative to running and an opportunity to visit new places.

But my partner-in-crime was injured so hopefully these will resume soon.

  • Some Walking Tuesdays

Whenever I’m in town and have friends available, there were walks on the local rail trail but mostly due to the snow/ice in a shopping mall or at the gym track.

Non-Running Related:

  • Many visits to NYC

Mostly due to work and always an opportunity to connect with friends, see a Broadway show and/or visit a park or museum.

  • One Florida Vacation

In February, I visited friends on the East coast (Delray Beach/Boca Raton). It was filled with many dinners, sunrises, nature walks and more.

  • Many Dinners with Friends

Who doesn’t enjoy a meet-up that includes food/drinks?

  • One Knitting Project Completed

a cowl

  •  13 Books Read

I think Good Dirt was my favorite. Frozen River was a close second. I did enjoy The Three Lives Of Cate Kay too.

Did you read any of these?  Do you have any to recommend?

And my quest for activities is

Happy Running! How has your year gone so far? What’s left on your list to complete before the year ends? Please share.

Weekly Run Down for 3.23.25-3.30.25: On to the next one…

Two half marathons completed for 2025 and another in a few weeks.

Let the training continue.

Last Week –

  • Sunday – I started the day at the gym and then my friend & I decided to go to Mass. to explore some consignment shops and have lunch.

there were 2 catwalk boutiques and we got quite a few bargains… hey, all the $$ goes to charity.

  • Monday – Still pretty chilly here which is typical for spring in the NE.

Today was cloudy, windy and rainy… UGH!!

I did my run after work and at least it was dry…

I drove to the other end of the rail trail for a change

  • Tuesday – I went to the gym before work and then after work, I met my BFF for a walk in the mall.
  • Wednesday – Today was the first day of the Training Challenge group that I am mentoring.

I got there early to get in a few miles before the newbie runners arrived.

first time on the water line since fall..

I ran with a few beginners and we did 60:90 run/walk intervals. (Sorry, I forgot to take a pic.)

  • Thursday – Teaching live today and then I met my friend Deb after work for a run on the Corning bike path

I was really dragging and Deb was understanding…

I was supposed to go to our monthly tennis dinner but instead I had to attend a ZOOM meeting to be on the board for STEM.

  • Friday – Another live teaching day so no time for the gym or a run but I did play mah jongg in the evening.
  • Saturday – Long Run and Brunch. Will I get in my 12 miler? Will the rain hold off?

The rain did hold off but I did not get in my long run. 😦

I woke up with all awful stomach virus (which might have explained why I was not feeling well the past two days.)

I spent the day instead in the bathroom and in bed…

  • Sunday – TBD (depending on how quickly I recover)

The plan was for the hubby and I to head to NYC for some fun activities:

170,000 tulips in Union Square: How to get free flower bouquet | FOX 5 New York

Riverdance Tickets | Radio City Music Hall

La Masseria | Manhattan | Restaurants
