No surprise that I have a lot of races scheduled this Fall.
Last weekend a 10k and yesterday a 5k.
Last Week-
- Sunday – Unfortunately it was too cold and rainy to go on our boat. I tried to make the best of the weather. I went to the gym…
then to MIL’s to celebrate her 101st birthday…
And finally a trip to the mall to walk off all those lunch calories.
- Monday – I got up early to get in a run…it was raining… but there looked to be a break in the weather… Off I went and yes, it started to rain again but happily stopped!!
Phew, after I was done, it continued to rain the rest of the day.
In the afternoon, I had an appt to see my chiro (since my lower back was bothering me during my race on Saturday) but I had to cancel due to work stuff.
- Tuesday – No time in the morning and I had to go to my office in the afternoon so after work I met my BFF for a walk…(my only workout for the day.)
- Wednesday – Live teaching today and a super early start… it was even a challenge to get my Starbucks.
After work was the 3rd meeting of the STEM group. I got there a little to add more steps to my day.

up to 3 min running! and this run felt better than previous weeks despite standing from 7-am-4pm at work
- Thursday – Back to WFH … gym first thing
After work, ARE (our local running club) was celebrating its birthday so they organized a 5k followed by dinner.
- Friday- A busy wfh day.. no time for any fitness activity.
I joined my friends for mah jongg in the evening.
- Saturday – Barn to Bridge 5k.
But first, I had to make a sad trip with my new cat, Dali. I’ve mentioned how she hates my other 2 cats and hides from my hubby. It’s been over 4 months and it’s obvious that it is not working. I advertised on the NextDoor app that I needed to rehome her. A former student of mine replied and said that her son & his girlfriend would take her.
I delivered Dali to them… I hope she will be happier there.
Back to the race.
I’ve run this 5k race many times so I was familiar with the late start (11 am), parking logistics, etc…
If you were in good shape, it was a PR type of course…
I was happy to finish, chat with friends, enjoy the free refreshments…
I had parked at the start but instead of taking the shuttle, I ran/walked back to my car (Long run done!)
In the evening, I attended a fundraiser for Orange Street Cats (the organization that I adopted one of my cats from).
- Sunday – Gym and hopefully some lake time… (weather dependent)
This Coming Week on the Run –
- Monday – run
- Tuesday – gym, walk
- Wednesday – STEM mentor run (week 4)
- Thursday – run
- Friday- mah jongg
- Saturday – Long Run and Brunch
This Coming Week on the Blog –
- Tuesday – Barn to Bridge 5k Race Recap
- Friday – Reasons to Plan a Girls Race-cation

looks like a busy week all around! We thought we were into the nice fall temps but alas, it got hot again. Maybe this week after the rain moves out

I’m sorry about Dali! I guess some cats are just happier being “only cats.” She will probably do better in her new home. I’m sure you’ll miss her- but you won’t miss the stress she caused in your house.
I love how this post is titled “Return to Racing.” Did you ever LEAVE racing??? It seems like you race all the time- at least compared to the rest of us.
Heather is SUCH A CUTIE!

I skipped a week or two of racing.
yes, I’m less stressed without the fighting… but I did like her 😦

I’m happy to see you were able to find a new home for Dali! That stinks that she didn’t work out, but it sounds like the best solution for everyone. My cats are still fighting 2 years later…
Such a busy week – so glad it’s filled with all things running related!

I’m so relieved to find a great home for her… she couldn’t have been happy with all that chasing and growling.

We had some beautiful fall weather this week! Lots of sunshine and in the 60s, but then it was 80s. I don’t mind the return to the heat, as long as the sunshine stays for a while. How fun to have a race on a perfect day! I don’t know if I would love the 11:00 a.m. start, but I did a 10:00 a.m. start today and it wasn’t too bad. It helps that the kids run started at 9:15.

Aw, that’s so sad about Dali. I hope she’ll be happy in her new home.
I had a cat once that I got from an elderly man in a nursing home where I worked. Pets in nursing homes should be a good thing but everyone wanted her to move, and I took her home. She was a lovely cat! But when I moved away to study in college, I had to rehome her. My sister had her for a while, and later she moved to a family in the countryside. I’m sure she lived a good life.

She will be an only cat and I’m hopeful that she will be happy.

I’m glad you were able to rehome your kitty. I’m sure it was tough to part ways, but hopefully the new home will be a good fit for everyone.

I’m sorry about Dali – I had to rehome our old cat’s “brother” – clearly just another orange cat from a hoarder’s house lumped in together with him as they hated each other. I managed to return him to the rescue we got them from but it was really sad. However, Morgan blossomed as an only.
