Weekly Run Down for 6.29.25-7.6.25: A Two Race Week

TWO races!! Crazy, right?

Well, one was Friday, July 4th, a 4 miler that I do each year.

The other was yesterday. A new fun one that I planned to run on June 21.  Date changed…

Last Week –

  • Sunday – I started the day at the gym.

The rest of the day was filled with stuff that needed to get done like grocery shopping, nails, helping my SIL with a computer project, etc.

Boating has slipped off our radar.

We did have our first BBQ on our new deck using our new grill – STEAK!!

  • Monday – A WFH week. Yay!

I got up early and went for a short run… in the ‘hood. School’s out so no buses and less traffic.

always time for flower pics…

In the evening, I had my first of 7 pickleball lessons.  I can’t say that I have any talent but I had fun…

forgot my phone so no selfie. It was harder than I thought and I’m a slow learner

  • Tuesday – Before work today, I met up my new running friend to work on speed…

I got up at 5;45 to meet her at 6:00am.  Yikes. So coffee. No breakfast =  No speed.

Actually it was soooooo humid that we walked to and from the track. Then I sorta got in 2 miles of speed drills although I doubt there was much speed.

Then I actually went into the office today and picked up bibs/shirts for Friday’s race.

I am running the race and 4 friends are walking it…

  • Wednesday – I decided to run after work today… and go to the gym before work.

Too hot! Too sunny! I Quit…

and then I met up with my BFF after dinner for a walk…

  • Thursday – REST day but finally available to participate in the ARE  Summer Trail series… but I decided to skip it and do some errands and have pizza at home.
  • Friday –   Firecracker 4 Race. I’ve run this race several times and I love it. This year as I mentioned above, my friends came to walk it.  We carpooled.

It is a very popular race and I connected with many runners that I knew. That made it fun and the hill on mile 4 was just as torturous as I remember.

After I was done, I waited for my friends and then we went out to brunch.

I spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out on our new deck with my hubby and his sister.

And it’s not July 4th without fireworks, right?

at a park just a mile from my home

  • Saturday – Indian Ladder Farms Spiked Apple 5k Race – except that being the day after a 4 mile race, I only considered it a fun run so I could enjoy the donuts and the cider.

And that was exactly what happened.

It was advertised as a 2 lap course through the farm & vineyards with both grassy and paved surfaces. Though I race often, I only recognized one person!  And the course was very confusing and 3.6 miles (LONG!).  Mostly on grass and some dirt… and you got the medal before the race!?

The donut was delish as well as the cider and I won my age group (but I was the only one. LOL).

In the late afternoon, I had my first babysitting assignment.

3 hours and no meltdowns= success!!

  • Sunday – gym, house stuff, boating??

This Coming Week on the Run –

  • Monday – tennis, hike, pickleball lesson
  • Tuesday – run. walk
  • Wednesday – run
  • Thursday – trails
  • Friday – gym, mah jongg
  • Saturday – Silks & Satins 5k race
  • Sunday – train to NYC, Bastille Day events w/college friends

This Coming Week on the Blog –

  • Tuesday – Firecracker 4 Race Recap
  • Friday – Favorite Running Movies

Ultimate Coffee Date for July 2025

It’s that time of the month…

Running Addict Runner in Therapy

time to join up with Coco & Deborah for their ultimate coffee date.

1.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I’ve having a hard time convincing my local running friends to enter races.

Today’s 4 miler used to be one of our most popular races.

It may be only me today.

It’ll still be fun since there will be a big crowd.

2. Over coffee…

I’d tell you that tomorrow I have another race. I didn’t plan it this way. It was scheduled for June 21 when I signed up.

I was worried that it may be on trails since it is a new course.

It turns out that it’s on the road. Phew!

3.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that along with the mug theme, I have another 5k next Saturday and one on July 27.

The first one should be much easier since it is flat.

maybe I’ll win my AG again?

The 2nd one is hilly and I’m in it just for the ice cream!!

pix are 2 years apart but same outfit lol

4.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that half marathon training should have started.

Coming soon in 2025!

Why did I sign up for these damn 5ks?

5.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I want to try new things this year.. So

This week, I played pickleball.

This week, I did a track workout.

Both were hard.  Both need a lot work.

Hopefully by the next the Coffee Update, there will be improvement.

Happy Running! What’s new with you?  Please share.

TT: 2025 2nd Quarter Update

MY TOPIC TODAY is: 2025 Q2 UPDATE.

Wow, the past THREE months have gone by pretty quickly. (You can read my Q1 Update here.)

So we’re halfway through the year!!

Things have not been perfect and so there’s definitely room for improvement.  Of course, many good things happened…

AND there’s still SIX months left!!

The best is yet to come (as they say…)

Running-Related:

  •  188 Miles

No annual goal this year…

It’s all ok. I will run as many miles as I am able.

As always, my favorite miles were those with friends…

  • 9 Races (1-10K, 1-5M, 1-10M, 4-5Ks, 1-3.5M, 1-13.1)

I’m pretty sure they were all PWs or COURSE PWs… (but I’m trying to be positive here…)

  • 2 NEW Races

I love seeing new scenery and/or running new routes…

  • DNSed 0 Races

Yay!

  • Registered for 10 More Races (5-5K, 1-10Ks, 2-13.1)

I’m super excited about the new ones (bolded)…

    1. Firecracker 4
    2. Silks and Satins
    3. Indian Ladder Farms Cider 5k
    4. Keep MOO’ving 5K
    5. Run for the Roses 5k
    6. Ellen’s Run
    7. Run 4 the River Half Marathon
    8. Squirrel Stampede 10k
    9. Great Pumpkin Challenge 10k
    10. Lake Placid Half Marathon
  • 4 Blogger Meet-ups

Catrina was a new one.

So who can I meet in the next 6 months?

  • Mentored 1 Running Group and joined the Board for another (STEM)

Race for Women Training Challenge group ended after 10 weeks on 5/31.

STEM is on break until the fall.

It’s always rewarding to help others reach their goals.

Fitness-Related:

  • 0 Stationary Bike Rides

I had great aspirations but I seem to only get on the bike when I am injured.

  • 29 Gym Visits

When I was home, I tried to go to the gym on non-running days which was usually 3 times each week.

  •  0 Hiking Mondays

Working full-time so no longer always an option to have the day off. But it’s a great alternative to running and an opportunity to visit new places.

My partner-in-crime has recovered from her injury so hopefully these will resume each month soon.

we had high hopes but t was too hot out…

  • Finally Some Walking Tuesdays

Whenever I’m in town and have friends available, there were walks on the local rail trail or in a shopping mall or at the gym track.

  • 1 Tennis Monday

I enjoyed playing tennis so much in Florida and wasn’t as rusty as I thought so I plan to play this summer when I can.

  • 1 Pickleball Lesson

It seems that everyone is playing pickleball so I signed up for lessons at a nearby park.

so far I’m a slow learner…

Non-Running, Non-Fitness Related:

  • More visits to NYC

Some due to work, some not and always an opportunity to connect with friends, see a show and/or visit a park or museum.

  • Second Florida Vacation

In May, I went on my annual tennis vacation in Naples, FL. It was filled with many dinners, sunsets, runs, tennis games and more.

  • Many Dinners with Friends

Who doesn’t enjoy a meet-up that includes food/drinks?

  • 0 Knitting Projects Completed

I have lots of wool and plans but never got around to starting anything…

  •  10 Books Read

Did you read any of these?  Do you have any to recommend?

And my quest for activities is still
