2022 Recap and Look Ahead to 2023

As you may remember, I had 22 goals for 2022!!

You can read about them HERE.

I did meet most (14) of them and the remaining goals just didn’t seem applicable any longer (so I let them go).  You can read my update HERE.

Here’s a summary of my 2022 running year:

  • Miles: 1028
  • Races: 34
  • Half Marathons: 9 (one was virtual)
  • 10 Milers: 1
  • 15Ks: 3
  • 10Ks: 1
  • 5 Milers: 3
  • 5Ks: 10
  • Other Distances: 6
  • Out of Town Races: 5
  • New Races: 7
  • Age Group Awards: 17
  • Volunteering: 3
  • Bloggers Met: 4
  • DNS: 1
  • DNF: 0
  • PRs: 0
  • PWs: 0
  • Shoes: Topos (only)
  • Apparel: Skirts (only) from Skirt Sports
  • Blog Posts: 154

No, there will NOT be 23 goals for 2023… LOL.

Here are the ones I have so far:

  1. Run at least 1000 miles
  2. Run at least 3x a week (with one being a Long Run)
  3. Run with others (as often as possible)
  4. Run at least 25 races
  5. Volunteer (at several races)
  6. Participate in at least one Blogger Meet-Up
  7. Try something new
  8. Listen to more podcasts
  9. Update my music playlist
  10. No Injuries
  11. No PWs
  12. No DNS or DNF races
  13. Blog 3x each week

As you can see, there is no big hairy goal for 2023 (at least not yet.)

I almost added Run the NYC Marathon but I haven’t committed to it yet.  I may even add run a trail race or join a gym….

Time will tell….

Happy Running! How did your running go in 2022?  Did you meet your goals? Do you have new goals for 2023?  Please share.

    • Thanks. As I’ve said you don’t have to fast at my age, you just have to show up.

I do want to run the Cherry Blossom at some point…

But I’ve love to hop a train and meet in NYC for CP run.

  1. Congrats on an exciting and busy year, Darlene! Looks like you’ve got some nice goals in place for ’23 as well, so I’m excited to follow along. No big hairy goal for me either (yet)…stay tuned 😉

  2. Those are some impressive stats- 34 races and no DNS or DNFs! And no injuries- that’s most impressive of all.
I tried to do a “23 for 23” list but only came up with nine. Oh well! Your
list is good- does our half in February count as the blogger meetup?

  3. Good luck with the 2023 goals! 2022 was the year I started running, and my goal after my injury was to come back to running in the spring… but I came back to it in November :). My 2023 goals all have to do with continuing the good work in the gym and in the running shoes, and with my musical instruments.

  4. No BHAG goal here either. It’s all about the little things.
In addition to seeing more of old friends I want to meet some new faces in 2023
Chuckling at skirt only. What happened to Rainier?

  5. Happy New Year! Congrats on your goals and all those AG wins! You have a solid plan for 2023. When is the blogger meetup?? I’d love to be a part of that! 🙂

    • Some of us are running NYC half. Some are running Cherry Blossom in DC. (not me) I’m open to a meet-up in NYC any weekend I’m just a train ride away.
