Another week, another race. LOL.
Last Sunday I ran a local 5 miler
and today I ran a local 5k.
Last Week:
- Sunday – Delmar Dash 5 mile Race. Unfortunately not a lot of runners ran the race but it was still fun and the weather was perfect. (You can read the recap here.)
I even won my age group (my competition did not show up lol)
After the race, I ran 5 more miles so I could count it as my 10 mile long run. That run was miserable but it’s done.

lots of walking but listening to a podcast interview with Adrianne Haslet (lost a leg in Boston bombing & hit by a car in 2019) made me forgot about my blisters…
- Monday – #neveramonday. First the gym…
Then I joined the FTC group run after work…
- Tuesday – Rest Day. Busy work day and a rainy one so just a walk after work…
- Wednesday – Another gym morning.
After work, I again volunteered with the STEM runners. I arrived early to run a little… It was insanely WINDY!!! And cold!!
- Thursday – Back to the gym for day #3 but no running or walking today since I had a hair appointment after work.
Winter has made a return…

This was around 9:30 am. It was colder when I went to gym but did warm up a little later in the day and again the WIND was insane.
- Friday – Believe it or not, I took the morning off from work so I could do my 11 mile long run. I had planned to meet up with Stan but he had to leave early for NYC. (I am training for a half on 5/22 and he is training for one on 5/21). So I was left to run alone.
I chose a different route and started earlier.. I ran from the 11m point of my last half marathon uphill 5.5m and then back again. I was overdressed (due to the sunshine) and it didn’t feel downhill this time. Thanks to Ali’s podcast for keeping me sane.
But since I was able to finish my run earlier, I had time for a bucket list trip to Stockbridge, MA.
I wish I could have stayed longer but work was calling…
In the evening, as usual, I played mah jongg.
- Saturday – Instead of running, I met my running friends for a walk followed by brunch.
I spent the rest of the day gardening… weeding and trimming bushes were more tiring than my long run.
- Sunday – Race Day! Sasha’s Super Hero 5k – a new race for me and one that raises money for Ukraine.
The weather was perfect and over $30,000 was raised. It wasn’t an easy course but I did win my age group.
After the race, I plan to do some hiking or more gardening.
This Coming Week on the Run–
- Monday – gym, Freihofer Training Challenge Run (FTC)
- Tuesday – rest day, walk
- Wednesday – gym, STEM run
- Thursday – run, walk
- Friday – gym, rest day, mah jongg chez moi.
- Saturday – Prospect Mountain Road Race + 6 miles running down
- Sunday – Mother’s Day – Tulip Fest, dinner with fam, packing

Your race outfit is awesome! I hope it goes well! There’s a huge tulip fest this next week, in Pella (about 40 miles away), and I’m wondering how many tulips will actually be in bloom. Spring has kind of been a no-show in Iowa.

Our tulips are late this year.
I knew you would appreciate the outfit.

Not amazing. Just small races. But still beats staying home.

I think this week’s weather, even with its challenges, was much better than in a long time. I got to sit outside multiple times this week!
Congrats on your AG win. You have definitely had a good string of good weather races lately.
The Stockbridge area is very nice! We like heading out that way sometimes.

Naumkeag was really nice but got booked up quick and hardly any tulips.
This was a small race so not a challenge to win but I’ll take it.
The nice weather must have been during the work day. All I remember is cold and windy until Friday.

Oh it was cold & windy. But at least there was some sun. Gotta look on the bright side!

Yup. I got outside everyday but hard to enjoy running in the wind. The bright side is the weekend weather has cooperated. And I work all week.

I hope you had a great race this morning! Congrats on winning your AG two weeks in a row!
Did you enjoy your quick trip to Stockbridge? We spent a week at The Inn at Stockbridge many years ago when it was owned by the parents of a close friend.

I love Stockbridge but couldn’t spend much time there.
Both races were small so not a challenge to win. But thanks.

So in this weekly rundown post you ran two races, won two AG awards, and did two long runs. I’d say that’s a pretty good week! Nice job on the AG wins- it doesn’t matter how many fast runners were there- you definitely beat the people who didn’t show up!
Whose podcast was Adrianne Haslet on? I want to listen to it.

Ali on the Run. She is so inspiring.
Thanks. You’re right. I beat those runners who stayed home.
Still need to work on speed and endurance. I walked 5 times during the 5k. Lol.

I’ve definitely taken time off of work to fit in a long run. That time is ours to use as we want, no one can judge 🙂

You nailed the superhero running outfit! It’s absolutely spring here, in fact, we’re at the point where we’re starting to see summer-like temps here and there; fortunately the humidity hasn’t ramped up yet but that’s not too far behind.
