It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
This month, it’s a mishmash…
1. I gymfess…
When I say I will do something, I follow through.
That means three mornings a week before work, I go to the gym … no matter what!
At first, I thought: “I can’t wait until my free trial at the YMCA is over on June 4!! Hanging out with sweaty old men at 6:30 am is not my thing…”
But now, I am used to the routine. And I like routines.
So I think I’m going to miss my gym time.
I did send an email about my FREE local gym. Here is their response:
Fitness Connect locations are currently closed to prevent any potential spread of COVID-19. It is unknown when these locations will reopen. We do understand gyms in New York are able to start reopening on 8/24/2020. But because the Fitness Connect locations rely on the public to self-serve and maintain the sanitation of the equipment, there is no guarantee that the proper sanitation protocols and safety measures will be used. We appreciate your understanding that we are looking out for the health and safety of our community…
Sigh. 😦
2. I runfess…
Until recently, I was running three times a week by myself. I could run anywhere and at any time.
Now I run with a group on Mondays (FTC) and Wednesdays (STEM). Soon there will also be trail runs on Thursdays…
Yes, it’s inconvenient often to run at 6 or 6:30 pm. I’m tired and hungry!!
But it’s so much more enjoyable to run with others and I run much better!
4. I racefess…
I may have overclicked the Register button:

No goal races… just lots of fun with friends and supporting some important charities.
5. I workfess….
I love the freedom of working from home but I am looking forward (a little bit) to getting out of the house, dressing up and seeing real people. I will be teaching live starting May 25. Two-four days a week, every other week, I think. (No NYC travel yet, though.)
The remote trainings will continue from home… For how long? Who knows?
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Do you like to run with a group? Have you been registering for a lot of races in 2022? Do you still work from home? Yay or Nay on the gym? Please share!
It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with bloggers, Me (My First 5K and More), Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, Runs with Pugs, and Zenaida!
So Join in!
And don’t forget to link back to your hostesses and visit some other blog
Is it expensive to join the Y? It might be worth it if you truly enjoyed the workouts you did there. With all those races you signed up for, it might not be a bad idea to mix it up! But you know how I feel about that!

Yes it is expensive to join. And my house is needing some loving care. We’ll see.

It’s good to see you being consistent with the gym. Way to go. I work out of the house 20 hrs per week and the rest is at home. It’s been a frenzy lately. I need to set boundaries. Nice race schedule!

Yup. working out takes up a big junk of time… you are very consistent with it!!

Nice on the gym habit! Is it expensive to join? I think YMCA prices vary widely. It sounds like the other gym has thrown in the towel — Don’t we know that covid isn’t really transmitted on surfaces?
OMG on your race registrations! That is phenomenal!

Fingers crossed that the free one does open… Y is costly but it’s mostly that come summer I doubt I would go..

I’ve also gotten into the habit of going to the gym and think it’s a huge part of staying healthy as I get older and my muscles naturally get smaller because of aging.
That seems like a lot of races even for you! It’s a lot to look forward to!

It’s actually normal for me pre-pandemic.
Once I go back to the office, going to the gym will be harder…

I know that Y gyms are usually kind of expensive, but you might be able to find a cheaper option. For years I went to YouFit and it was only $10 a month (now I think it’s $15.) Might be worth looking around.
Yes, you have a full race schedule! I especially like how you have two in one weekend. It’s obviously something you love, so why not?

Planet Fitness is cheaper but summer is coming and I will want to run before work. Also I may not be working from home, that also complicates things.
If there is two in one weekend, I am probably walking one of them…. I’m not that crazy.

holy smokes that is an aggressive race schedule! If anyone can pull it off it’s you!

Is that a compliment? Ha Ha.

I thought I signed up for a lot of races but now I feel like I have barely any – haha. Thanks for that!

I know it’s a lot. But now that I did fairly well in my last half, I can relax and race for fun.

Nope, not registering for all the races. We may (or may not) do the Peppertree 5k tomorrow, but if we do it’ll just be a walk. The paths are so narrow there & with dogs it would be really annoying to run.

My friend is the RD for that race and I considered it.
But not this year. Sasha’s Run is raising money for Ukraine and this year that is a much more important cause.
Besides Sat I get to hang with my running friends. You should join us sometime. We don’t bite LOL

We decided to skip it. I have an eye on a few other 5ks in May. We’ll see.

Nice day for a race though.

You have a fun summer on your roster! I’m considering doing more group runs this summer. I’m doing a 7-person relay in a couple weeks, and maybe my team and I can coordinate some group runs after the relay. Otherwise, there are two big run clubs (in Des Moines and Iowa City, both about an hour’s drive) that have group runs every weekend. I have options…I just need to act on them, LOL

I love group runs especially if there’s someone at my pace. A 7 person relay is on my bucket list… there’s one here in the wine country.

That back at work meme cracked me up – looks like my first day of commuting lol!
You are definitely the race queen! Amazing!
Nice job with being consistent with your gym routine.

I know. That will be me when I go back.
I do race a little. It’s fun.

I like routine too. I’ve added Pilates on Tuesdays and now Fridays, and I go to the gym with my husband on Mondays and Wednesdays.
That’s a lot of races!

We meant to go back to the gym this week but work is still a nightmare for both of us. The stress we were putting on ourselves to register on Monday (that’s what we decided in the weekend) almost actually caused a fight between us! That’s when I said… we’ll do it when we have a calmer moment. So now it looks like next week, though probably later in the week. I can’t wait to go back and have a routine again! I love routines!
I would love to run with a group but it’s just not possible for me. We have an exceptional number of groups in town with really semi-professional athletes. I have considered joining a training club that has my age group on specific evenings but I just don’t know – Ron used to train there and he found it uninspiring. We are different runners though so who knows.
I’m registered for 2 races and I’m ok with that! You did get a bit wild with the registration button!!
I still work from home most of the time, probably from June I will go to the office 2x a week. Not really looking forward to it since it means commuting an hour each way. My “old” office is 10min by bike…

An hour away. Ugh!
Having a group waiting is motivation.
Hope your races go well. It just feels more normal having a bib on.

Wow, your race schedule! But I am not surprised. 🙂 Go for it. It does take some adjustment going back to work. I was actually excited about it!

It will be a big adjustment. But I guess it’s time.

Routine is pretty critical to my sanity. While I’m sorry you are going to miss gym time, I want to hear more about this Free local gym! What a cool idea! I need to start overclicking the register button.
