April showers bring … Wait, it’s June. Rain this week made scheduling things a challenge. But the important things like runs got done.
Last Week:
- Monday – #nevermissamonday almost didn’t happen. I woke up to thunderstorms and the rain continued on and off throughout the day. I wanted to squeeze a run in since I wanted to take a rest day on Tuesday (There was more rain in the forecast).
- Tuesday – Since it was supposed to rain, I didn’t plan to run and besides, it was a busy work day. I was hoping that my long after work walk would not get rained out. And it rained before and after so we got in a delightful walk on the rail trail.
- Wednesday – Today was our second scheduled Ice Cream run. You know how I feel about ice cream so joining this group run again this week was a no brainer. The timing worked out since I was too busy to run at lunch anyway. We met at The Crossings at 6 pm to run and then after, we went to a nearby shop to get some homemade ice cream.
- Thursday – No rain for the 2nd day in a row. I was very excited because today at 6:30 pm was our first scheduled weekly Trail Group Run since 2019. We met at Lawson Lake and about 75 runners showed up. You know that I am nervous about running on trails so I was glad to have company at the back of the pack. There was also a BBQ after. Loads of fun!

The course was about 3 miles – some technical parts and steep hills but I ran more than I thought I would. Looking forward to next week’s.
- Friday – Rest Day finally. Not much activity beside a short bike ride during lunch and my weekly mah jongg game. It was held this week at my house so that meant shopping and cleaning.

I hadn’t take this baby out in a month…. and it was such a beautiful sunny day. Wish I had more time.
- Saturday – Long Run Saturday. Would we get rained out? Nope, no rain until evening. We ran on a new to me bike path. It was nice to run some place different though I did not appreciate the hills. Afterward, we got brunch (of course) and hung at Chris’ house.

sorry no people pix. too hot. we started too late and it was so warm and humid. I planned on 10 but could barely get in 6. The trail was not shaded and uphill. I ran will Barbara and Sherry for while and then Debbie and finally on my own. We met the 4 others after for food and chatting.
I couldn’t stay that long since I had a graduation party to attend in the afternoon.
- Sunday – A beautiful day for relaxing on the lake.

Happy Running! How is your running going? Any in-person races planned? Have you been experiencing summer temps or rain where you live? Any vacations planned? Please share.
We did finally get a rainstorm but we remain under severe drought conditions. Summer came early here this year. Busy and fun week for you!

So many fun runs, and look at you on your bike! I split my run up yesterday — it was so humid, Scooby was breathing hard so I looped home and hopped on the treadmill. I need to revise my running schedule for summer.

great idea o split up a run. I wish I could have so I could do what I had planned.
The bike ride was short – no time. Darn job!!

It looks like things are pretty much back to normal for you! When do you go back to the office? I’d love to take my bike out for a ride, but with the wrist injury, that’s off the list as well.

Hope your wrist heals quickly. At least you can run.
Things are getting back to normal. Races still are not but hopefully next year.
I fgo back to work 3 days a week on July 6 and full time on Sept 7. Not looking forward to it at all.

You had a fun and busy week w lots of social things. We may have to start an ice cream run too. We sometimes do iced tea runs but that sounds like more fun

Sounds like a really fun week Darlene! We really need some rain here in MInneapolis, send some our way! Running with a faster friend can be a nice little push 🙂 Ice cream runs are a perfect summer tradition.

Not a lot of rain just here and there and never when they say it will.
Yes it’s good to get pushed every now and then.

Well, you mostly know the weather. Yes to a short vacation. Perhaps a little day trip next week; we’ll see how that works out, I’ve actually got quite a few things I’m working on right now.
Yesterday was not a great day for a run (or hike!). Glad I got mine done during the week — hard to resist with that weather for most of it!

No choice but to run on Saturdays…oh well. I survived. At least you usually have shade in the woods for hiking, But the bugs are out in full force.

Haven’t had too much trouble with bugs yet & yes it was very shady. Thank goodness!

It didn’t rain a lot but it kept threatening which is very annoying.

We finally got some substantial rain today…light rain this morning, a few hours of part-sunshine, and the rain returned by mid-afternoon. We really need it, and I got my run done early (in the light sprinkles), so I’m not complaining. Gosh, those ice cream runs sound delish 😉

Rain threatens and then it sometimes does rain. Hard to plan your runs.

We got a lot of rain yesterday evening, but that was pretty much it for the entire week. It was super humid earlier in the week though which made everything just feel gross – yuck!
Your ice cream runs sound like so much fun!

You definitely know how to make it fun! I like how your ice cream run day is followed by a trail run with 75 people, and a barbecue. Your relaxing day on the lake looks amazing! Do you miss your Sunday hikes?

I did miss my hike but it was so hot so I think the lake was the better choice.
I am lucky. Running should be fun sometimes. I’m not really training for anything.

We used to have a monthly bunco game in our neighborhood. Prepping for it was always a big thing at my house, but it was fun to see everyone. I do miss those get togethers! Glad you got to ride your bike. I just washed mine. It was way past due.
