It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
I cannot believe it’s almost May (and I’m still wearing a beanie and gloves!!)
1.I runfess…
I walked a 5k race.
Yes. Me. Not injured but I didn’t feel like exerting myself.
I had mentored a group of beginning runners.
One was recovering from COVID and wanted to walk the race. So I jumped at this opportunity.
2. I runfess…
After my last two half marathons, I’m looking forward to to shorter runs for awhile.
That is until July 1 when I start training for the NYC Marathon.
3. I runfess…
In order to enjoy my training runs for my next half marathon more, I signed up for shorter races instead of doing those long runs.
Bacon Hill Bonanza 10k, Tropicool 5k, Prospect Mountain 5.67m or Summer Smith 5k
4. I runfess…
I had thought that the Brooklyn Half Marathon would be my goal race this year…
But nope. See runfession #3.
I plan to just finish and enjoy a hot dog and a beer at Coney Island.
5. I runfess…
I bought new running shoes. That’s no surprise. Topos. Also no surprise.
They also made a Specter Chicago for Men.
What about New York City??
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Please share.
It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with bloggers, Me (My First 5K and More), Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, Runs with Pugs, and The Running Teacher!
So Join in!
And don’t forget to link back to your hostesses and visit some other blogs!!
If shorter races make you happy, I say do shorter races. Looks like a big warm up this weekend so hopefully those gloves get put away until the fall!

Enjoy those shorter races for awhile! Those are great, especially when it gets hot. I am a sucker for city-specific running gear!

It sounds like you had a great reason to walk the 5K — I bet she appreciated it.
Glad you found some shorter races to fit your schedule. You are a race fiend!

Well, it’s always good to mix things up! But since you will be doing long runs later on to prep for NYC, I’m wondering how you could enjoy them more. I think you already run with friends. If you’re alone, do you listen to podcasts? Music? Are you sure you’re eating and drinking enough? Those things all make a big difference for me.
I have a pair or Topos that I’m loving just for walking around. I’m trying to figure out why I didn’t love them for running- they seem to have everything I need. Maybe I should try them again.

I have 4 different Topos.
I listen to podcasts when I run alone.

Love the new shoes! I hope to get a new pair for my (our) birthday!
Once again, you have a super busy race schedule. I love that for you, and I think the shorter distances will get you excited for the longer ones again!

I hope so. But shorter distances I think are harder.

I think walking the race while you were recovering is a great idea instead of skipping it!
See you in Brooklyn!

Yes. Looking forward to Brooklyn. Are you staying in Manhattan? I’m staying near wall st and taking the subway to the race.

Yay for shorter races! That’s what I’ve had on the roster (including last weekend’s 10K). I’m looking forward to the D2D 13.1 on June 1st, though it’s strange to think that’ll be my first half of the year, LOL

It’s great that you walked the 5K with the lady you’d coached. I’m sure she really appreciated it and enjoyed your company.

Nice that you walked with the runner you coached. Definitely a good reason to walk a race!

Nothing wrong with walking a 5k. I am sure your friend appreciated you walking with her. While half marathons are “fun”, the shorter race distances are also fun.

They are in a much different way.
