It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
And the last one for this year!!
1. I runfess…
I flunked Planksgiving.
I had good intentions and I started out strong. In fact, I planked for the first 12 days.
On November 13, there was the Stockadeathon 15k race…
And you what happens once you stop, it’s hard to start again.
And so I didn’t.
2. I runfess…
Last month I admitted that I had a weakness for cute running shirts.
Actually I have a bigger obsession for calf sleeves.
I like to wear ones that match my outfit, and for each season or holiday…
St. Patrick’s Day and Thanksgiving covered.
Now I have three new pair:
3. I runfess…
I signed up for ALL FIVE races offered in Dec-Feb through a local racing club.
They are FREE, have age group awards and delicious food after… so why not??
Well, the races are on Sunday. My running friends run on Saturday… the course is quite boring but there are usually three distances to choose from (the longer the distance, you more you loop).
First world problems…
I may walk on Saturday and then race on Sunday or run long on Saturday and fun run on Sunday… TBD
4. I runfess…
So with no half marathons scheduled for December and January, I’m losing my weekend long run mojo.
It’s hard to want to run double digits in the freezing cold, right?
I even considered signing up for the Fred LeBow Half Marathon again in NYC..
No, I didn’t sign up!!
At least I have one in February and March to train for.
5. I runfess…
Instead I signed up for half marathons in April, May (this one should be a Runfession but I’ll explain next Friday) and September:

April 15, 2023

May 20, 2023

September 23, 2023

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I also flunked Planksgiving. I flunked worse than you did.
My husband is also planning to run the half in February but has not been
doing long runs. I think his longest recent run was four miles. I’ve been gently “hinting” (nagging in disguise) about it… “Let’s see, how many weeks till this half?” It should be interesting.
Happy New Year, Darlene!

I’ve only done 6 miles… so he has plenty of time to catch up.
Happy New Year to you too.

I love calf sleeves, too, but it’s been awhile since I’ve added any new ones to my stash. Those Christmas lights ones, pictured above, are almost an identical match to a shirt of mine! I have a tough time doing double digit runs in the cold weather, which is why the two summer marathons I’ve done, were sort of struggle bus adventures 😉 Now, a double digit run in the heat of summer…bring it!!

Same.. I get out in the cold (cuz I hate the TM) but more than 3 miles is very hard. Yes bring back summer!

I’m not signed up for anything but my NYD 5k and the Frozen Gnome 10k in January. But I’m going to sign up for that 15 mile trail race in April and one in July in Colorado with my son. In between? Let’s see what pops up on my radar!

So cool to do a race with your son.

You’re going to have a great year. My biggest race so far is the Gate River Run 15K in March. My running buddy is recovering from long covid, so hopefully we can get back to it soon.

so nice your calendar is filling up! love it! I won’t be doing any long distances next year, at least I don’t think so but you never know… I love the calf sleeves, in fact I love to be quite colorful when I’m out running, usually that’s my InkNBurn gear or at least my hair hahaha! I probably would have flunked planksgiving as well, I just don’t do challenges that well

I’m horrible at challenges. And I love your hair!

I never used to sign up for the Winter series — and it was never a problem.

Certainly easier with the app. And saves time. Looking forward to them as always.

It’s so easy to lose your long weekend run mojo – I haven’t run long in months and I fear getting back to it! I know I will manage but they are quite intimidating when you’re out of practice!

It’s amazing how quickly you lose it. And how slow it comes back.
Good luck.
