A snowy start to the week but at least things warmed up a bit.
It was week of selfcare (haircut and nails) and catching up with friends (two ZOOMs).
Many of my friends ran the NYC Half Marathon on March 20.
I entered the lottery but did not get in so instead I decided to make sure I got in next year… hence, my virtual race.
Last Week:
- Sunday – Since I had only run 5 miles the day before (in a snowstorm)
I drove to the Crossings and ran 5 more windy chilly miles. 5+5= 10 miles, right? Weekend Long Run complete!
Afterward, I did all the errands that could not be done the day before.
- Monday – #nevermissamonday I ran after work and hoped that the streets in Delmar (where I live) would be clearer than the ones in Colonie (near the Crossings).
In the evening I had a ZOOM with a few of the college friends that I had went to France with. We hadn’t talked since we met in August.
- Tuesday – Another after work run. I drove to the rail trail and was pleasantly surprised that most of ice/snow had melted.
Must be a ZOOM week. Had another one tonight. This time with running friends since several are wintering in Florida and others have not been running due to the cold weather or injury.
- Wednesday – Rest day! I had an hair appointment after work. And besides I had run four days in a row. But I actually took a lunch time walk for a change… 60s again!!
- Thursday – Sunrise run… yes me!! It was awesome to start the day that way and then I could relax after work.

a little too cloudy for a great sunrise but at the bottom left, if you look closely you can see the full moon
After work, it was raining (good decision on that run) so I went and got my nails done.
- Friday – With mild temps and the possibility of rain on Saturday, I was tempted to squeeze in a run before mah jongg. But instead I went for a walk with friends (70 degree temps – how crazy?)
- Saturday – Long Run Saturday.
Actually my plan for today was to run a Virtual NYC Half Marathon. 13.1 miles in the rain did not appeal to me…. But the forecast was wrong… it did not rain. In fact, it was warm and humid. I walked 3 miles and then ran/walked 10.14 with Sherry.
- Sunday – Glad that I got that long run/virtual race over with. This morning I was busy tracking my friends who were in NYC running the race LIVE.
In the afternoon, I was scheduled to volunteer for the Freihofer 5k at the Adirondack Sports Expo in Saratoga.
I got there early and had some delicious donut holes & spicy mocha while I strolled around Congress Park and downtown.
Then I got to hang out with some and old new friends while promoting this race (you can run it live or virtually for only $22 – that includes a shirt and a medal – AMBDC is the discount code)
This Coming Week on the Run–
- Monday – Freihofer Training Challenge Run (FTC)
- Tuesday – lunch run
- Wednesday – run after work
- Thursday – rest day, dinner out with tennis friends
- Friday -lunch run, dinner with family (celebrate S & A’s anniversary)
- Saturday – rest day, walk
- Sunday – Shamrock Shuffle (5 mile race) + 6 miles
This Coming Week on the Blog –
- Tuesday –Virtual NYC Half Marathon Race Recap
- Friday – Runfessions

I was thinking about your running your virtual while I was running yesterday. It will be so much fun to run together next year. seems like so far away but it will be here quickly I am sure. Glad to see your weather is warming up a bit

it did warm up this week but in the NE, it always takes a while and then goes back n forth. I’m glad you suggested the virtual half.

Way to knock out the virtual race. 13.1 is tough on your own. Glad the weather cooperated. Have fun with your volunteer gig today!

I do hate virtual races. The mojo is so hard. At least I had some company for 10 of those slow miles.
I am looking forward to the expo. Hope to snag some freebies and discounts.

I’m glad the weather forecast was wrong for your virtual Half! Honestly, I don’t think I have the discipline to run a half on my own. I need some self-care, but keep forgetting to make an appointment during business hours.
Have fun volunteering today!

I have zero discipline… It helped that my friend agreed to run/walk 10 with me… otherwise who knows if I could have done it. I prefer LIVE races.

Virtuals are tough, but virtual 13.1’s are the pinnacle, LOL You probably remember, I did the Key West virtually while in Florida. At least I had a somewhat “new” route to entertain me, and a few palm trees along the way. It was worth it for the mental (and physical) challenge, and the event shirt was totally on-point. Priorities, LOL.

Yes. Yes. No runners no crowd support. No adrenaline. A victory for just finishing.

It’s always nice to run without all the layers! It just feels so freeing.
Our bulbs are beginning to come up (noticed it a week or so ago(, but took advantage of the ones in DE for photos. 🙂

This was the week for shedding. Glad the weather cooperated when I had to run 13 miles. The layers may be back next week.

One of my FB friends ran the NYC half today. The course sounded like a great tour of the town! I’ll have to add that race to my bucket list now. Hope you’re scoring some deals at the expo 🙂

It’s a great course. Come do it sometime. At least enter the lottery.

i’m looking forward to your virtual half recap! Glad you had some great weather- it’s funny to see everyone sweating in too many layers now. It’s also funny to compare the pictures from the beginning of your week to the end- spring is definitely coming!

Yes. Snow last weekend. Sweat yesterday. Unfortunately cold coming back. The spring I’m the NE.

That’s part of why I love the morning runs – the afternoon time to just be/walk/read is the best.
Congratulations on Virtual, next year will be fun. Weather was way off here too
Was fun to cheer my friends – awesome weather.

I cheered virtually. Jealous of their weather. Hope you do it next year with me and Deborah.

Nice job on the virtual race, Darlene. I am with you, I loathe virtual races, but yours was a means to an end. Exciting that you’ll get to run the live half next year!! I thought you were running Freihofers this year?

I am running it. As always.
And yes. I do hate virtuals. At least I had a good reason to drag my legs 13.1 miles.

All that snow and well done on the virtual! I keep getting encouraged by the company running the London marathon to do the virtual – um, no thank you (it’s not linked to getting a place next time or anything).

No. I’d never do a virtual marathon. Unless they paid me a lot of money.

Interesting that running the race virtually gets you guaranteed entry! Great job getting it done. I’m sure next year will be a bit more fun.

It does for this race. And I still have to pay for the race. But I can bypass the lottery.

Virtual half marathons are so hard – at least you had a good motivation! I would love to run the NYC Half – great to know you’re now in for next year!

Sign up for the lottery. You have a better chance of you don’t live in NY.
And yes, virtual races are tough.

I want free shirts and cookies! What a good time!
I am getting my nails done today and cannot wait!
Once Mr PugRunner gets home from SC, we definitely need to start looking at vacations (and racecations). It’s time.

Awesome job with your virtual race this weekend. We had the same forecast for Saturday, but didn’t end up raining until 7pm that day so they were way off with that prediction, lol.
