It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
1. I runfess…
I love to hike as you know. I also love artsy things. So I decided to visit another Sculpture Park. But it was closed when I got there. I went around the gate and walked around…. Took pictures. Glad I did not get arrested. lol.
2. I runfess…
In Last month’s runfession, I talked about 2022 races. My running friends and I plan a race-cation every fall. This year there are TEN of us!!
So I booked a house (8 bedrooms) on the ocean. The race is not even open for registration yet (and we can only get 50% back if we cancel.)
3.I runfess…
About the race mention above – I did contact the RD and he stated that it was confirmed for Oct. 2. And my friends said that they didn’t care if we run an in-person race or just run on our own. But I do want to run a real half marathon. Fingers crossed.
4. I runfess…
For the first time in years, yesterday I did not run both the Troy Turkey Trot 10K AND 5K. I only ran the 10K. I did have a little FOMO but since I had just run a half marathon, it was probably the smarter decision.
5.I runfess…
I said many times that I was ONE and DONE when I ran the NYC Marathon in 2019. But with the perfect weather conditions, I had serious FOMO this year. And I had tears in my yes watching the winners and even more so when I watched those who struggled but finished in the late hours.

struggled with RA but finished in almost 11 hours (last 10 miles with a walker)
Even Chelsea Clinton ran it…
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Have you signed up for any 2022 races yet? Have you ever gone around a barricade and entered a place that was closed. Did you have FOMO when you watched or read about the NYCM? Any race-cations planned for 2022? Please share.
It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with bloggers, Me (My First 5K and More), Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, Runs with Pugs, and Zenaida!
So Join in!
And don’t forget to link back to your hostesses and visit some other blog
I know you really wanna race but that beachfront abode will be so much fun all on it’s own! I missed that CC ran NYCM this year. Why is Hillary masked?? Not vaccinated??

I agree. That house looks amazing. I wrote this post early. I just signed up for Oct 2 race. Hopefully Covid doesn’t get worse.

At this point in time, I can’t plan anything so far ahead (or with the chance on losing out on lots of $$). Once was enough. Hopefully we’ll get to go somewhere, at some point but it remains to be seen.
I’m really not much for FOMO. I choose what I want to do, and am happy for others as they do their own thing.

Lots can happen before Oct. 2. But sometimes you have to risk it.
FOMO can be a positive because you may do things that you may not have done. And enjoy them.

Fear is never a positive in my book. You can do new things without being motivated by fear.

The term FOMO is used sarcastically. It is not really about fear. It means we want to join others. It’s a motivator.

Wow, I am too chicken to sign up for a race so far in advance, since I’ve had to DNS races twice, including the Richmond Half. There’s also the uncertainty of work. I just learned this week that we have a “retreat” that same weekend in October 2022.
That sculpture garden looks cool! Glad you didn’t get in trouble checking it out. I got kicked off a pier in Chicago that really was a ^Navy^ pier!

It seems that everyone will go on that race cation even if they can’t race. Fingers crossed we are healthy and able.
Hope your Achilles stays quiet and you can add some races to your schedule.
Once I start traveling it’s all on state and not away on weekends. It does interfere with training.
Also my favorite 5k is scheduled for the same day as my high school reunion.

No guilt after that drive. I was hoping that I wouldn’t get caught.
I hope that house is as amazing as it looks in the pics.

I’ve had a lot of 26.2 FOMO the past two years. Obviously, there was nothing I could do about it last year (Covid and stress fracture, thank you very much), but this year was a different ball game. Even when my marathon was cancelled (it went virtual, but no thanks!), I could have found another. But, I was also a bit relieved to not have to continue with the training. I like the race itself MUCH better than the training, LOL.

Oh I think many of us including me like the race better than the training. In fact I joke that my favorite part of the race is the start line and the finish line. In between often sucks. lol

I love that you already have that beachfront house booked! It will be a fun girls’ weekend even if the race doesn’t come together. With all that has happened in the last couple of years, I’ve let go of registering far in advance for races.
I did have FOMO after watching NYC (and volunteering at Boston last month) – the big question for me is whether I have it in me to take on the training for 26.2 again. Don’t you just wish you could snap your fingers and be trained LOL

I totally agree. I’m not against running 26.2 miles. But the training is grueling.

Well, that’s a long time in advance to plan a race but you’re very consistent. You run tons of races and never have to DNS (at least, for injury.). Either way it sounds like a great race-cation. That beach house looks amazing!
That sculpture park is cool- I would have gone around the gate too.

It was very cool. I may go back when it’s officially open.
I agree. Even if I am injured I would go and cheer my friends. Hopefully that does not happen.

I love sculpture parks too and probably would have also gone around the barrier to see it!

You know I’ve totally snuck into places that were closed. I mean, come on! And that place you rented looks amazing. You can do your own race if need be.

I knew if I didn’t snag that house, some other group would. Since I posted, the race registration opened. Still who knows with Covid. We all went in 2020 so we will again. Race or no race.

I’d love to run the NYCM even though I have no plans to run another marathon. 😉

I know. I said one and done. But NYCM was amazing.
Yes. I can’t wait for Maine in Oct.

Those sculptures are so fun! I would love to run NYC again. It was such a great race! I’m not signed up for any 2022 races YET, but I’m sure there will be plenty. My 2020 Tokyo Marathon was deferred to 2023. Fingers crossed.

We ran it the same year. Good luck for Tokyo.
Yes I’m sure you’ll be running many races in 2022.
Stay healthy!!

I would very much like to run the NYCM one day. Maybe. I don’t know.
You will love running in Maine. It’s so gorgeous there. And I hope that one day I will be able to run with you in Melbourne. It would be a blast.
I would not have gone around that barricade. I’m a total rule follower.

That would be cool if you ran NYCM. I would come cheer you on.
Looking forward to Oct. I have never run a race in Maine.
Unfortunately my sister-in-law moved and no longer lives in Melbourne. But I had deferred this race from 2020. If you want to drive down and meet up, let me know.
