It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
1. I runfess…
I signed up for 10 week Troy Turkey Trot Challenge because I wanted to train for the 10K and to run with my usual Challenge friends.
Well, for the ‘advanced” group, there really isn’t a coach. Different and few runners show up each week. My friends did not sign up. The course is often on the track or a dark neighborhood or campus route. It was only 8 weeks not Ten.
I’m not a quitter. But I may skip the rest of the runs and I definitely will not sign up next year.
2. I runfess…
I won my age group at a recent 5k (Malta 5k). They didn’t have an award ceremony. You had to pick up the award at the local Fleet Feet store (which is not local for me.)
So I ignored it. I figured it was another medal that I didn’t need.
While I was in NH for my half, I got a call from someone at the store reminding me to pickup my award. Coincidentally, he would be in NH running the same race. Anyway, I asked him what the award was and he replied: Gift card to Fleet Feet. My response: I’ll pick it next Sat.
Long story short, I drove there the next Saturday but the RD has picked up the awards. (They may track it down and mail it to me.. but I doubt it.)
I didn’t want to waste the long drive:

new Topos for my November half marathon
3.I runfess…
After reading all those posts about saving money, I went to the Poshmark site…
Yup, I HAD to buy them.
Of course I would have saved more money if I didn’t buy them at all.
4. I runfess…
Now that I have signed up for ALL my 2021 races (I will have run 21 by the end of the year), I am figuring out my 2022 schedule.
I think I have my February Florida half marathon picked (a deferral from 2020)

Feb. 13, 2022 in Melbourne
but I am debating on my January race…
I definitely am having NYC FOMO:

Jan. 23, 2022 in Central Park, NYC – I want the HAT!! – cheaper
OR
Jan 9, 2022 – also in CP – a better date
5.I runfess…
My April half marathon choice is even more difficult..

Apr. 16, 2022 – local and downhill (if they go back to the original pre-Pandemic course)
OR

Apr. 24, 2022 – in Brooklyn
It’s nice to finally say that there are actually choices.
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Do you replace your shoes often? Have you signed up for any 2022 races yet? Please share.
It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with bloggers, Me (My First 5K and More), Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, Runs with Pugs, and Zenaida!
So Join in!
And don’t forget to link back to your hostesses and visit some other blog
I only have one race on my 2022 calendar thus far, a half in Key West. I have several that I’ll probably do, as well, I just haven’t yet registered (Fight for Air Climb in May and Drake 13.1 in late April). You mentioned the hat from one of the races…I almost (ALMOST) am tempted to register for the Des Moines Turkey Trot just for the cute pom-pom hat. I ran it virtually last year (it was my rally-back “race” after my stress fracture), and I’d run it virtually this year as well on the streets of my local Trot

My friends did KeyWest and loved it. I almost went but too $$ at the time.
Yes I am a softy for cute hats.

Bummer about the “training group” and boo on chasing down the AG award. They really should mail that to you. At this point it looks like ZOOMA Bermuda is a go in February. I wonder though how many people will want to travel there.

Not me. Although I did love it. Maybe again someday. I’m sticking to in this country for now.
And you?

Those shoes were a steal! I haven’t tried Poshmark yet but I’ve gotten some really nice stuff on ThredUp for super cheap.
I couldn’t decide between a bunch of 5k & 10k races in November so I went nuts and signed up for all of them. My husband asked if I just needed t-shirts;-) It is very good to have so many options again.

I used to run the 5k and 10k on Thanksgiving. This year just one.
I need to look at TredUp. Or maybe not. Lol.

Wow on 21 races in 2021. I might do ~one~ LOL. That so-called training group sounds like a bummer! LOL on buying shoes to not waste the drive. Such a classic runfession.

I only have one race in 2022 so far in March in Asheville which I am super excited about. Still trying to figure out if that NYC run w work for me time wise. Poshmark has some great deals when you can find them. I have sold a bunch of stuff on there too.

I wish I had time to sell stuff. I just give it away.
Not sure about Brooklyn but would love to meet up.
Asheville is supposed to be a great race.

Ooh, I got excited at first because I thought you were coming to my neck of the woods to run your February half- then I saw it’s Melbourne. I’m hoping to tun the Ft. Lauderdale half in February (foot permitting.)
i’ll have to check out Poshmark- that is a HUGE savings! Of course it’s probably hit-or-miss to find the correct shoe and size. It’s worth a try though.

Yeah. I thought I might do Ft Lauderdale if Cari does. I stay in Delray or Boca with friends. Not that far. How far do you live from Delray?
Yes. Huge savings. But you never know what you are going to get.

That’s annoying about the 10K group. I hope it was free. I would skip the rest!
I’ve never run an NYC Runs race. They started after I moved. I like the Fred Lebow races though! January halfs are fun and chilly!!

No it cost $$$. Live and learn. It used to be a great training group and really helpful.
Feb Lebow gives you a great hat and is cheaper

Too bad about the Turkey Trot Challenge. Hopefully the money went to a good cause at least. I’ve only signed up for one race for next year but I need to figure out what else I want to do. It is definitely nice to have options again.

It helped support the race which I am running.
It is great to see races again after the drought of 2020 and rescheduled ones in 2021.

That’s a great deal on those sneakers! I would have purchased them also at that price.
I only have one race on the calendar for 2022 – it was originally supposed to happen in March 2020 but has been re-scheduled a few times so hopefully it happens.

I hope it does happen. It’s frustrating when races either get cancelled or go virtual.

21 races this year – wow! It’s nice that you’ve already got some options for 2022. I only have one race on my calendar for next year – it’s my rescheduled November half.
Too bad the training group turned out to be a bust. I think I’d skip the rest of the sessions too.
I hope they mail you your gift certificate!

I doubt I will see my award.
I hope more races open up for you. At least you have one race as a goal.

Congrats on your AG win! Hopefully you get your gift card soon! I only have the Hot Chocolate 15K planned in April, otherwise I haven’t given much thought to 2022 yet. More than anything I’m looking forward to a running break!

Sometimes you just need a break. I wish hot chocolate would come back to NY. Loved that race.
I doubt at this point I will get that award.

That’s a great deal for those shoes! Of course you had to buy them.

I wouldn’t have blinked twice at the shoes! What a bargain!
I have no races on the calendar for next year. I’m not sure where my training is going to be at coming back from this injury.

I bet you’ll be back before you know it.

Well you know what my April answer would be — and not just because I’m running it. How often do you get to run an inaugural race?
I’d skip the rest of the “training” too. Doesn’t seem like you’re getting anything out of it.
We always need new shoes. I have four in rotation and one pair on the way
