Good News! I applied to work from home until at least Dec. 31. And it got accepted!! And I have my COVID booster shot scheduled (very happy about this!!!)
Bad News! We were still eating on paper plates! And our washing machine broke! And my car headlight quit! (That’s three, right?)
On the running front: This week included a half marathon taper and my favorite 5k race!
Last Week:
- Monday – The kitchen was status quo but we decided instead of replacing the carpet in adjoining family room, to just have it cleaned (as ell as the other rooms upstairs). How does this impact my running? Having to stay home and wait for workers to arrive.
But it was still #nevermissamonday with our last Freihofer Training Group run.

Just an easy 3 miles which never feels easy lol Blurry? That what happens when you snap a pic while running.
- Tuesday – A scheduled rest day so just a walk after work with friends,
- Wednesday – I decided to drive to the end of the rail trail since I hadn’t run that way in a while. And a running friend was able to meet me to run and for dinner after. Win. Win.
- Thursday – Working from home makes it easier to squeeze in a run before work…but it was raining.
When our after work trail walk got cancelled, I was able to do my run then

glad that the sunflowers ae still around… but got a little wet toward the end but at least got it done before the storms
and head to the expo to pick up my race packet (and volunteer swag.)
- Friday – I volunteered after work at packet pick-up for tomorrow’s race. It was fun and I met some new people, chatted with runners that I already knew and even met a few elite runners.
Then I got my #flatme ready for the next day.
- Saturday – Freihofer Run for Women 5k Race -. This race is always special since it’s the only race I’ve run every year (except 2020.) #13 completed with perfect weather and lots of friend meet-ups.
Some extra miles added before and after = half marathon taper completed as well.
- Sunday – I was hoping to go on our boat but the hubby had a tennis match so Hiking Sunday started early this Fall.

Great to get that many times in at one race – well done! I had a funny week as I strained my “bad” foot moving appliances around in the kitchen so have run so very little, but all OK and I feel rested. In-person race in three weeks though, eeps!

So sorry to hear about the foot. Fingers crossed it’s ok for the race.

Definitely some good things this week, especially that you have the option to WFH until the end of the year, that’s great!
The Freihofer’s Race always looks like such a fun time and this year was no different! The cookies definitely make it worthwhile lol.

You’ll have drive over one year though although that’s a long ride for a 5k.

What a full week! Great job at the race. It’s neat to have those “tradition” races that you do every year.
Good luck with the rest of the kitchen! Yay that you will get a booster soon!

Yes. Can’t wait to be even more protected. I hope everyone can get it too.
Hopefully we will be done with the kitchen Wed. Then have to put everything back.

A great week and good news about your job!
Glad you could run another race in person.
Here, on these days, the weather is perfect for running but not interesting races yet.

Wait- your washing machine broke??? That’s the one thing that would send me into a panic. I hope everything gets fixed ASAP.
Sounds like your race was super fun- can’t wait to read the recap. Glad to hear Hiking Sunday is back! The photos are beautiful.

My hubby fixed it after it flooded our basement and our new floor.
The race was great.
Hope to have at least one more weekend on the boat before the marina closes for the season.

It’s a nice shirt! But I knew long ago I wouldn’t be able to do it in person. Our washing machine is pretty old. Shh!
Although the husband’s car drove just fine to my mom today.

My hubby fixed the washing machine.
About 300 runners did it virtually. Have to support our local races if we want them to continue. IMO.

That’s great that he was able to fix the washing machine. A big relief, I’m sure.

Sounds like you had a great week. I do hate waiting for workmen to show up. That park looks like a great place to run. So pretty. Nice hiking pictures too. I love waterfalls.

I really love waterfalls as you may have noticed from my hikes.
Hope the kitchen is done soon. Losing my patience.

Mmmm I’m liking that race swag! Congrats on #13. That’s amazing. I don’t think I’ve run any one race more than 6x. Sorry about the kitchen chaos. You know I share your pain. This too shall pass……eventually.

It shall pass. Hopefully soon for both of us.
The race is local and all women. I plan my schedule around it. #14 if you count the virtual.

Fantastic!
I love all the training groups you run with, and I think that has to be so great for motivation and dedication!
I am racing a 5K on Saturday for a local breast cancer foundation. It’s a great cause and a great community event. My group of friends is so excited!
