It’s that time of the month…

ETA: 5-25-21
to join up with Coco & Deborah for their ultimate coffee date.
1.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that, in case you don’t know yet, I’m going to be a grandma in May. We’re very excited. It is a surprise since my daughter-in-law was told that she most likely couldn’t get pregnant and they have been trying for awhile.
And it’s a BOY so I guess I can start quilting/knitting and shopping.
Any running grandmas out there??
2.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that I have a new challenge. It’s actually one that I thought of when the pandemic started but now it’s a real one:
Before it was announced, I had already visited 17 out of 20. The 3 left were just not nearby. And I just finished!!!
Are you participating in any challenges?
3.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that I also participated in the RGB Challenge.
It was only 78 miles between Sept 20, 2020 and Nov. 3 2020Feb. 1, 2021. Since I finished in a few weeks, I continued logging my running and walking miles. My goal was to see how many miles I could accumulate and maybe finish in the top 20 out of over 8,000. (Just call me an Overachiever). And I did pretty well. I decided to stop posting on Nov. 2.
Did anyone else Run for Ruth?
4.Over coffee…
I’d tell you I said that I was over virtual races. And I meant PAYING for them There are quite a few FREE NYRR races. And so I did sign up for them (2 in Oct, 3 in Nov, 1 in Dec).
Most are 5ks (and I do get a medal if I do 3 out 5 and record them on Strava).
This is the only longer one.

between Nov 30 & Dec 6.
Any more virtual races on your schedule? Free or for money? Anyone want to join me on the Free NYRR races?
5.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that I miss NYC big time. I used to go there several times a month for work
and several times a year with friends…
and then there were the races…
So on a whim, I registered for a NYC race on Dec 6. Most likely it won’t be safe to go…but a girl can dream.
**6. And I forgot to announce here that I am now (in addition to Skirt Sports), a ZOOMA Ambassador.
I am very excited because I LOVED my ZOOMA Bermuda experience. I hope to participate in ZOOMA Cape Cod next fall.
Any ZOOMA ambassadors out there? Anyone planning on any ZOOMA races?
It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five linkup! Join in! Don’t forget to link back to your hostess and visit some other bloggers.
Happy Running! Got anything to spill? Share it here!
Aaah every time I read Cari’s blog I crave NYC so bad…I haven’t been there since 2016. I can’t wait to take my family there.
Congrats on your first grand baby! So exciting.

That’s a lot of virtual events to entertain you this month! I am in a workout minutes challenge for the month of December and everything counts towards that so it should entertain me. I do have my Thanksgiving 10K virtual to do as well. Congrats on your first grandchild how exciting! Thanks for linking up for coffee

That sounds like a fun challenge.
My virtuals are just runs. Not sure I need them. But it doesn’t hurt to sign up.
Thanks. Can’t wait until May!!!

If I counted correctly, you deserve a big congrats four times, Darlene!
On becoming a grandma in May, on completing the 20 preserves, on being the 17th out of over 8’000 on the RGB challenge and becoming a ZOOMA ambassador!
Looks like you are having a spectacular time!!! (you can catch up with all the NYC things later)

Lots to be thankful for and many congrats 😉 I’m really glad I had my biking challenge; it’s been a great “new” thing for me and I can assure you the biking is here to stay. That’s been a major lemon deluxe pie in the midst of so many lemons LOL

Biking was really great for you. I’m not a biker and I hope I don’t have to become one lol
But I really enjoy the trails. And with constant foot issues, it has been helpful in letting run fewer miles.

As the mother of 3 sons and the grandmother of 3 grandsons, I can tell you, boys are so much fun. I think you’re gonna love being a grandma, Darlene. I am hoping one of my grandsons will be my running partner in the future. Maybe the youngest one.
Good luck on your new challenge. It sounds like a lot of fun!

I only have stepsons. Was hoping for a girl. But excited for a healthy baby.

My last trip was to NYC in February. So glad I made time to both have dinner with Cari and run in Central Park. I can’t wait to do both again! After Coretober, I am taking the month off from challenges, but this week I’ve been doing my best to burn off stress with Peloton workouts.

Same. I saw Cari in Feb. last trip to NYC was in January.

So jealous about Hadestown! It will be a while before that one gets to Jacksonville.
Listen, if you come to ZOOMA Amelia Island, I will be there! That would be EPIC! Congratulations on your ambassadorship!

Maybe. But I don’t think I can take time off for both.
But maybe if all my vacations until then are cancelled due to COVID.

I stopped recording walks once I finished. Sometimes I still record time for walk/hike (although most of my hiking is light hiking, not like your fire towers).
Considering a turkey trot where part of the fee goes to food banks but haven’t decided yet. I do have one virtual 5k to run sometimes soon, already have the tee but won’t wear it til I’ve “earned” it.
I always like to challenge myself.

I find climbing much more challenging than running. Esp since there’s no races.
I’ll run on Thanksgiving but no virtual race.

Congratulations on your grandchild on the way! I have a similar onesie for my daughter – she actually wore it today!
I’m only doing a monthly mileage challenge, no virtual races right now. I just want to build up my base and stay consistent!

That’s a good idea for any runner.

No challenges for me. I’m so tired of it all. I will probably run a virtual Christmas race but other than that, I’m just running. Hoping to hit 1200 miles by the end of the year. That’s my own challenge! :p

1200 is a great challenge and I bet you reach it!!

Had no idea you could get a metal. I clearly need to read the NYRR emails.
Congrats grandma. Can’t wait to celebrate his arrival with you, and I miss you being here too. It will probably be plenty safe on 12/6. When I decide on my return date I’ll let you know
Yay on the challenge you “discovered”

I think so re: medal but don’t really care. I now have to remember to do them with Strava.
Hope to see you soon.
