Friday Five 2.0: Runfessions August


It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice

My topic for today is: Five August Runfessions

  1. I runfess…

I was really excited when I got a 6 month free membership to a gym back in March. I vowed to go use the machines twice a week.

Then once a week.  (Even the nearby Starbucks stopped motivating me.)

Well, the thrill is gone.  I have not gone once this month!!!!!!!

2. I runfess…

I took the day off from work (and did not travel to Liverpool) because I wanted to go to a friend’s funeral.  And I did go but I ran before and played tennis after.  I can’t let my free time be free.

3. I runfess…

I am been purging big time from my closet. I have too many things that I no longer wear. I definitely don’t need any more running clothes.  I mean I only run 4x a week at most.

So why did I buy another running skirt or two?

4. I runfess…

Speaking about temptation, I cannot stop eating ice cream.  Every day!!!  It’s my reward after a run. It’s my reward after a bad day.  It’s my reward…just because.

I need an intervention.

5. I runfess…

I’m already picking out my races for 2018.

But I’ve decided (for now) on quality rather than quantity.  In the past I’ve run as many as 7 half marathons in a year.  This year, I had planned to run 6 – 3 in the spring and 3 in the fall but (may only run 5).

I think for next year, it’ll be 4 – 2 in the spring and 2 in the fall.

Here’s the plan so far:

March:

FLA – bridges, ocean views, friend meet-ups and baseball (Mar 18)

May:

largest half in US, NYC weekend, fun fun (May 20)

 

Sept:

hilly but with beaches, staying at my college roommate’s new house in RI (Sept 9)

Oct:

Paris what else can I say? This will probably not happen but a girl can dream… (Oct 6)

  1. Wow not even a Starbucks can get you to the gym? Haha! Dr. Miracle has a brand new Starbucks right in the same shopping center as his office. I freaking love it. Your 2018 is shaping up!

  2. Re the gym – it’s hard to force yourself to go when you just like doing other things, like running and playing tennis, about a million times more. And hey, a girl ALWAYS needs a cute new running outfit or two!

    • I don’t keep it in the house either because I will eat the whole pint. At least if I eat it out, it’s only a dish or a cone.

  3. I have a no-sugar-added Klondike Bar every day. The chocolatey coating is perfect. As far as 2018 goes, I’ve signed up for the Colfax Denver Half in May. I’ll probably do my other usual 10 milers, although I may be done with the Army 10 Miler after I do my 10th this year.

  4. While I’m looking at 2018, I have no plans yet. Just an idea of one race I’d like to do in the summer. And an idea of which states I’d like to add. But you never know — there was a lot I hadn’t planned on this year that just happened.

    I knew you’d buy more skirts. You always say you won’t and then you do.

    Obviously my favorite food is chocolate, but I still don’t eat it every day.

  5. I am always looking for running/exercise gear…even though there really is NO room for it in my closet. I really need to do a major purge….

    My race calendar is still pretty empty. Las Vegas is the only thing bought and paid for so far, but I am eyeing a 5K in late September and a 5K/5-mile combo in mid-October. Nothing for 2018 yet.

  6. I runfess I’m an ice cream junkie. Mmmm… any day, any time!

    I’m also purging my drawers this weekend, too. I have so much I don’t wear.
