Relationship to running?  Many many races take place in Saratoga esp. in the park.  I have run many of them (Silks & Satins, Run for the Roses, SPAC Rock & Run, Fasig Tipton) and I hope to run them again in addition to new ones (Palio, Great Pumpkin).

Happy Running!  I hope you are… happy and running!

ME on page 2 of the 2012 brochure

Last May, I ran Sean’s Run for the first time.  My friend Mary talked me into it.  It was a big (1500 runners) local race but a very hilly race.

Look who is now pictured on the 2012 race brochure – http://www.seansrun.com/pdfs/2012Flyer_spread.pdf

That would be me…(at least they cut out my fat thighs!!).  I wasn’t planning on doing this race again…but maybe I should.

The funny thing is that last year’s brochure had Mary’s photo on it (from the first year she ran the race.)

Happy Running!

I tried to select one photo for each month (which was very difficult).  Not all are running-related but of course, most are.

Highlights of the year:

  • 21 races
  • 1st Half Marathon
  • 1st 15k race
  • a great boating season in Lake George
  • yoga addiction
  • destination race to Cali
  • 2 vacations in Florida

Happy Running!  Hope you had a great 2011!

Albany’s Last Run – the Early Version

Before yoga last Wed, I ran near Washington Park where thousands of holiday lights were on.  I didn’t have time to run through the park where Albany’s Last Run 5k on Dec 17 will take place.  The park opens to cars that pay $15 to view the lights at 6pm also & I wasn’t sure I would be able to run through the park.

So after work on Thursday, I headed out as soon as I could. I parked my car where I go to yoga class.  I wore my bright orange Last Run jacket.

me & MaryPat at the Delmar Turkey Trot

I intended to do an early version of Albany’s Last Run. I had planned on 3.1 miles but when I got there, there were no lights on!

So I just ran around the park in the DARK!!! It was kinda eerie but cool!

Little by little, the lights went on.  So I just kept running around the park.  When they were finally all on, I expected to get kicked out but no one said anything so I ran & took photos (lots) of the lights.

Here’s just a sampling:

I wound up running 4.5 miles & losing one of my gloves. I stopped in the lakehouse for some hot cocoa to warm up. Then I ran back to my car.

Not bad.  It normally costs $15 to ride around the park in your car.  I did it for free, got a better view of the lights and got some exercise!!

I get to do it again on Dec 17 for the 5K race but now I can run fast & not look at the lights. Ha ha!

Happy Running! Any holiday races coming up for you?

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas…

Yes, today, it is in the 30’s. It snowed yesterday and more snow is predicted for tomorrow.

So I guess it’s time to think about Holiday cards.

If you read my blog, you’ll know that I love to take pictures.  As a result, when I send holiday cards, I usually enclose one of my photos.

I think that this year, I am going to use Shutterfly to make my own holiday cards using some of my digital photos.

Once you upload your digital photos, you can create either greeting cards, calendars, invitations and even a variety of unique gifts.

Shutterfly is very easy to use.

The problem will be deciding which of Shutterfly’s many designs to choose

and which photos taken this year to upload??

me running?

or

me & hubby on our boat?

or

our cats?

If you’re lucky to get one, you’ll find out…

This year Shutterfly is offering bloggers a great deal. 25 free Christmas cards when you blog about Shutterfly’s Christmas cards!

 Are you a blogger?

Happy Running! Do you send photo greeting cards?

End of the Boating Season & Last Long Run in BL

Today was bittersweet.  We have had the best weather this summer (& fall) for boating.  But you never want it to end…Do you think the sign above was for me??

I got up this morning very tired…not enough sleep but the weather was perfect…(well, maybe a little warm for this time of year, but who’s complaining?)

breakfast at the marina before my run

I was planning 11 miles but would settle for 10.

I decided to do the first half around the Sagamore Hotel.

waiting for customers...I was tempted

view of the lake & a little fall foliage

View from the Nature Trail at the Sagamore

With only one frost, most of the leaves were GREEN.  Definitely not peak colors…

Then I ran through the town of Bolton Landing which was very CROWDED…garage sales…crafts fair, etc. I did stumble upon some interesting sights.

Yes, he's real

a bufferfly among the mums

As I passed the marina, I was pooped already and it was hot…I ate some gu & took a swig of water and continued down 9N south for the rest of my run.  I was running SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.  I told my hubby I’d be done in 2 hours… oh no…

I ran down through the cemetery and then headed toward the lake.  It was beautiful, as usual.  I just had no energy.

along my running route

me running in one of the neighborhoods on the lake

The time forced me to head back to the marina as not to be late.  Unfortunately, it is UPHILL on the way back.

I did 10.5 miles instead of 11 at a snail’s pace but got it done!!

My hubby was waiting so I hopped on the boat and we spent the rest of the day on Commisssion Pt Island with a whole group of friends and friends of friends.

the gang toasting our last island picnic of the season

And I was able to drink, finally.  I discovered a way to add alcohol to my Root Beer Float addiction.

whipped cream vodka & root beer

Awesome!! You can use orange soda & it tastes like a creamsicle..

We hung out as late as possible … I have to work tomorrow 😦

view of the Sagamore & the moon from our marina

Of course, we stopped on the way home for a  real (ice cream) Root beer Float!!!

Until next year….

Happy Running! Happy Columbus Day!
