The summer is flying by…
Last Week –
- Sunday – The early morning rain stopped after I came home from the gym and we had a lovely day on Lake George.
- Monday – I woke up to rain (again) so I postponed my run until after work.
- Tuesday – Too busy to run before work… but then my Internet went down so I had to race to work. As a result, I had no time to pack running clothes.
After work, I rushed home to change clothes and meet friends to walk on the rail trail.
No RUN!!!
- Wednesday –
Rest Day before tomorrow’s race.I did goto the gymfor a quick run before work (to make up for the skipped run the day before)
and then met my BFF for a walk after work after a quick visit to see my granddaughter.
- Thursday – For the 4th year in a row I ran the Firecracker 4.
It was great to have a few friends join me and to see so many runners that I knew there.
The race was followed by drinks, lunch and great conversation.
- Friday – Day Off so I could also participate in the Lake George Hike-athon again.
This year, I invited Deirdre and Kevin and I chose Cat Mountain. It was longer and more challenging that previous hikes. and then we would join my hubby for some boating on Lake George.
Well, unfortunately Deirdre got sick and they cancelled.
I was tired and had climbed Cat Mountain many times so I decided to skip the hike and just drive up to the lake.
We barbecued, swam, napped and had a relaxing day.
- Saturday – Long Run Day. My last week of only 6 miles.
We woke up to thunderstorms… but they were short-lived and I’ve never sweat so much during a run.
- Sunday – Again the gym… not sure what is planned for the rest of the day…
This Coming Week on the Run –
- Monday – DAY OFF, run, hike w/friends
- Tuesday – GYM, run, walk
- Wednesday – run
- Thursday – trail walk
- Friday – hair appt.
- Saturday – Silks & Satins 5k, boating
- Sunday – Train to NYC (for work), run?
This Coming Week on the Blog –
- Tuesday – Firecracker 4 Race Recap
- Friday – 5 Fitness Goals for the Last Half of 2024

Sounds like you had a really nice week! Two days at the lake, a race, seeing your granddaughter… all the good stuff. I know you’ve had a lot of rain, but the photos you’re posting are beautiful! So green and lush- the rain is good for something.
Good luck with marathon training! : )

Rain is fine as long as it doesn’t interfere with running. lol

Sounds like a really nice week of workouts and fun! What a bummer that your friend got sick and couldn’t do the hike, though.
It’s been hot and humid here, but no rain…

It’s been a sweaty couple of weeks for me too! I get home and can’t wait to peel off my clothes and get in the shower. We’re earning it, aren’t we?
Your granddaughter is adorable. I just love that age.
Enjoy your time on the lake!

It is wonderful on the island esp in the shade and then if you are too hot, you can jump into the lake.

Seems like we’ve all been fighting the humidity. It was off the charts in NC this weekend, so the Iowa humidity doesn’t feel quite so bad…but it’s definitely a force to be reckoned with.

It is so hard… worse than the heat.

The Firecracker 4th sounds like a fun tradition. The 8K I used to do on the 4th relocated too far away.
Your boating photos look fabulous!

Oh, you had so much rain too… we’ll take some here in CA, it’s been so hot and dry here. But it sounds like you had a pretty good week, the hike looks gorgeous!

I don’t min rain in the summer unless it prevents me from running…
The hike didn’t happen this year but will try for an easy one today.

Such gorgeous views at the lake! How wonderful to have access to such a place. Hope your friend feels better!
Here it’s autumn- or spring-like weather. Cold and rainy. I don’t mind rain too much as long as it’s warm but… the weather isn’t my cup of tea lately.

I missed the local 4th of July race. It was just too hot.
Everything is vile here. Too hot. Too humid. Too buggy. Where’s fall?
