Ultimate Coffee Date for March 2024

It’s that time of the month…

time to join up with Coco & Deborah for their ultimate coffee date.

NYC is the theme for this month’s post:

1.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that my first half marathon since last September is in TWO weeks (and in NYC)!

It’s #66 but I’m still anxious about it.

2. Over coffee…

I’d tell you that this is the second time I’ve run this race but both times it has been a “recovery” race. And so the goal of my training has been “just finish.”

Do you believe that I thought this was a “slow” finish time? Now I’ll be happy with 2:36:01.

3. Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I haven’t been to NYC for work in two months but after I return home March 18 from the race, I go back on March 24 and I’m there for the rest of the work week.

You will be seeing plenty of Central Park pics… I hope the cherry blossoms are early this year again.

4.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I am also working in NYC in April, twice in June and in July.

Maybe that why I subconsciously signed up for races in May

May 18 (Prospect Park to Coney Island)

and August

Aug 3- 10k (on Governor’s Island)

5. Over coffee…

I’d tell you that the sign up for the guaranteed entry for the 2024 NYC Marathon opened up on Feb. 21…  and I have until March 21 to decide if I want to run it for 3rd time.

I have 3 close friends running it (another may also qualify and another who is entering the lottery).

FOMO is real.

Training is hard!!

It’s so expensive!

Spectating could be lots of fun!!

Anyone interested in entering the lottery?

Happy Running! What’s new with you?  Please share.

  1. As always, you have some fun races to look forward to! My first 13.1 (since October) isn’t until late April, so I don’t need to officially train for it yet (I’m already in 10K shape, so there’s plenty of time tweak the mileage).

  2. I laughed when you said that you thought 2:16 was slow. No way! Not in that course. Good luck! I hope the weather is better than last year. I have been toying with the idea of entering the lottery for the marathon. Maybe.

  3. LOL on training for a marathon being hard — that’s an understatement!

Wow on all those trips to NYC. Hopefully you’ll earn hotel points you can use on some fun trips. 😉

  4. I have not trained for a marathon since before kids – it is SO hard. It takes up so much time, energy, planning, etc.
I love NY but rarely get to go for fun – I have family there so don’t think I’ve ever spent time in a hotel there except for a business trip years ago!

    • Let me know if you ever visit my area…

If I do run it, I will have company which makes it less hard (but yes, still hard.)

  5. That is amazing that you have run 65 half marathons! Do you have a certain goal number of half marathons you are going for? And for a “recovery” race that is an amazing time! You have some fun races coming up!

    • No real goal… maybe 75 before 75? run them until I can’t. Easier than a 5k because you don’t worry about being fast…

  6. Oooh, that’s a tough one. It’s so hard to get a spot, but it’s such a huge commitment in time and money. Whatever decision you make, I know it will be the right call.

I love that ice cream medal so much. I’m skipping our local ice cream run in favor of the potato run lol.

    • We do have another ice cream 5k in MA that I’m eyeing too.

I’m waiting on the decision… it’s kinda also centers around the cost and if I have a roommate for the hotel.

  7. Good luck with the race! (And I’m excited to find out what you decide about the marathon.) You’ll be fine. Just go and have fun, don’t worry about your finish time. Think how happy you’ll be that you’re out there running!!!
