It was one of those weeks where I had something scheduled for every night of the week!
That happens when you are traveling for work for weeks and now you are home!!
And then you have an upcoming vacation planned for next week…
Last Week:
- Sunday – My hike last Monday was cancelled due to rain as was today’s. (April showers bring May flowers, right?)
But I had plenty to keep me busy… unpacking, laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning (that’s what happens when you are away the previous week…)
I started this rainy day with a trip to the gym.
Then my hubby and I got our 6th COVID shot.

very excited for the vaccine and to continue to be protected from COVID (for myself and others I am in contact with…)
Still raining so I got my steps in with a walk around the mall.
- Monday – Back working from home so I could hit the gym first thing. (BTW: no reaction from the vaccine at all.)
In the evening, I again mentored the beginner running group.

week 6 out of 12… most runners including myself struggled to run for 5 or 8 minutes. I encouraged them to walk if needed.
- Tuesday – Another morning at the gym (Trying to make up for last week and next when I’m on vacation.)
But no running today since I had a scheduled dinner date with my stepson (the unmarried one.)
Unfortunately my stepson had to work late so that left me free to walk and also prepare food for the party the next day.
I decided to return to the Pine Hollow Arboretum to see how things were blooming.
Our local Tulip Fest is in a few weeks and I wondered if the tulips were starting to bloom so I headed to Washington Park.
- Wednesday – I was forced to skip the gym since I had an early morning work ZOOM (with a camera on … I could not be there in my workout clothes. LOL)
But I took the afternoon off from work so I could run and then meet up with some tennis friends.
I was happy that my running friend Sherry was able to run with me at UAlbany (You know how I hate to run alone.)
Afterward, my friends and I finally got together to celebrate our 2002 trip the USTA Tennis Nationals in Palm Springs.
It was so much fun to catch up and reminisce.
- Thursday – Back at the gym before work… and I squeezed my run in at lunch time.
After work, my friends and I had tickets to go see Fiddler on the Roof (and of course, we went out for dinner beforehand.)
- Friday – Morning off from work.. that meant I could go to the gym later.
It was supposed to be a rest day from running. Why is the weather so nice on rest days?… boy do I wish I had switched my long run to today!!
Since I went to gym earlier than planned, I had enough time to do some walks or hikes.
With rain in the forecast for every day next week, I returned to Washington Park.
I continued my walk around the park…
Then I drove to another place I’ve wanted to visit… it’s in the middle of the worst part of the city (and a little creepy to hike solo there).
- Saturday – Long Run Day!! Nope… RAIN!! Sorry. I am fair weather runner.
Instead I went to the gym and re-scheduled my hair appt.
- Sunday – Re-Scheduled Long Run Day! My plan is to run 12 miles. Two of my long run buddies are away but I hope to have company of some other running friends and follow it with brunch.
This Coming Week on the Run–

- Thursday – rest day, 5:45 am flt to Florida

It looks like your tulips are much more full than the ones my sister and I saw this week at the Botanic Gardens. It’s been mostly cold and rainy here this spring. And we’re getting more of that this week. Sigh.
Enjoy your long run today!

Cold and rainy here too.
I’m happy to leave and find some sun.

Looks like another productive week! Wow the spring blooms are gorgeous there. We are just starting to have tulips in bloom but the lilacs are nowhere near ready.

The rain will speed up our lilacs I bet.

Wow, you really did have a busy week! I can’t believe you had no reaction to the Covid shot- they always knock me out for a day.
I hope you had good weather for your long run today and found people to run with! And yay- you’re heading down to the Sunshine State this week. I hope this vacation goes better than the last one (I’m sure it will!)

Supposedly less reaction to this one.
Rain stopped and I got my 12 miler done.
And yes no broken bones during this vacation!!

Your pics of the tulips are so beautiful! There’s a huge tulip festival about 45 miles away (Pella, IA), and I seldom get a chance to get over to see all the beauty of the blooms. Sorry for all the rain! We’ve had so much wind (32mph this morning!), I think I’d gladly trade that for rain.

Wind is no fun. Hope this week’s weather is better.

You did fit it all in! And such beautiful locations with those flowers. I only have a few tulips in my yard, so I’m thankful my neighbors have a lot. They are my favorite! What a fun reunion with your tennis friends. The time really does fly by!
I forgot to mention in my blog that I got my 4th covid vaccine last week. I had a bit of wonkiness the next day but nothing major. I actually am part of a study and have to donate blood samples so they can check out my antibody levels change after the vaccine. (and I’m getting paid for it!)

that is so cool about getting paid to be protected.
I have a few daffodils but no tulips… we have deer that eat EVERYTHING

I love all of your spring flower photos! We don’t have that many tulips around here for some reason. I think someone told me before that they just don’t do well because of the heat and they often don’t re-bloom year after year like they’re supposed to so many people don’t bother with them. They’re beautiful, though.

I don’t have any but luckily the parks do.

Looks like a good week and that’s great you’ve become such a frequent gym-goer. I hope your long run was good and the weather was ok.

I do enjoy the gym routine… it gets me going in the morning.

Lovely flower pics, thank you! I’ve started my next tranche of walk-runs for the physio – ramping up the running is HARD, it turns out. Oh well!

Hah! I don’t do anything on weeknights unless I’m traveling. You do more in a week than I do in a month.
Most of my meetings are “camera on” but sometimes I make an excuse and turn mine off. 😉

I’d be in trouble if I were on camera. Lol.
