This week was less hectic than last.
We started out with fall-like weather and then as the week progressed, the temps started rising.
Just in time for my 15k race..
Last Week:
- Sunday – Boating Sunday! Chilly and windy but always better than staying home.
- Monday – Juneteenth celebrated so a day off from work.
I could get used to this… Doing things on my own schedule!! FOMO on you non-working runners!!
Got my weeding, trimming bushes, laundry, grocery shopping done.. all in this cool fall-like morning.
I met a friend for a walk in the afternoon (and the temps had warmed up significantly)
Then in the evening, a group was running in the Crossings so I joined them followed by a Trader Joe’s stop.
- Tuesday – Back to reality. With rain in the forecast, I squeezed in a run before work.
It rained on and off in the afternoon but my friend was still game for 5 mile walk after work… and we didn’t get too wet.
- Wednesday – Again rain in the forecast. So I decided to play it by ear on whether to run or not. There was a SOAR (Sisterhood Of Athletes & Runners) run scheduled after work at UAlbany. It’s always nice to have options.
Afterwards, I met my BFF for a walk around the mall.
- Thursday – Rest day finally! And rain on and off all day.
After work, I met my friends for the ARE weekly trail run walk. As usual, we had a good time.
- Friday – Rest Day #2. Getting ready for the race the next day.
And the evening with the mah jongg ladies.
- Saturday – Race Day – Adirondack Race to the Lakes 15k.
A very early morning wake-up since I had to leave by 5:45am to get to the race. I’d like to report that I was prepared for those hills… but I wasn’t. Still I enjoyed the last two miles and the post-race dip in the lake especially since the summer HEAT and HUMIDITY had returned.
- Sunday – Race Day and/or Boating Sunday!
Before Saturday’s race was announced, I had signed up for a fun trail 5k (see bib above). After having run a HILLY 15k the day before and temps in the 90s today… I decided I’d rather be floating in the lake!!
This Coming Week on the Run–
- Monday – DAY OFF – hiking with friends, run
- Tuesday – run
- Wednesday – rest day, Van Gogh exhibit, dinner out with tennis friends
- Thursday – run, ARE trail
runwalk - Friday – rest day, mah jongg

- Sunday – rest day, boating

Thanks. Successful if you mean survived. It was a slow one.
Weekdays off will be greatly welcomed

Congrats on the 15K — sounds like a challenging one. Enjoy the water today!
We didn’t have Juneteenth off, but we had a lunchtime speaker (via Zoom) who gave a lecture on the history of Juneteenth.

That must have been interesting.
Yes yesterday was a challenge. I don’t plan on any movement today.

Cheers to a less hectic week. I felt the same way. Nice job on that race! A post-race dip sounds amazing.

It was just my feet. But yes so necessary.
Hope we continue to have stress free weeks.

I do love a 15K distance race but the summer heat just deters me from signing up for any. Enjoy your time off today and hope it’s a nice day out on the water

It is hot today. The water is the best place to be.
And yes summer racing at any distance is challenging

Glad you enjoyed the race. At least it’s a lot cooler up there than here! And you had the lake to relax in both days.

It was hot up there. And I didn’t stay at the lake. I had to take the shuttle back to my car. Only dipped my feet in.

Well, the race must have gone pretty well in spite of the heat if you won an AG award- I’m looking forward to the recap! Hope you’re enjoying your day at the lake. It sounds like a perfect way to recover.

Nope. My time was slow. But it was a small race. 118 runners.
Yes I’m reading a book in the shade looking at the water.

Sounds like a great week. Congrats on your 15k. As much as I try to prepare for hilly races, I feel like I never am. The heat was a killer this week. I also didn’t say anything about Roe vs Wade and it was hard not to…sad, sad day.

Very sad day for women.
Hills kill me.

You always manage to get a lot done, rain or shine! I think the 15K is a fun (and kind of unique) distance, but not hardly any of them in my area. I hope you enjoyed your Sunday 😉

I was in Boston for half of the week and the weather was so windy and chilly! I don’t think it went above 60 degrees any day I was there – definitely felt more like Fall, lol.
I wish we had more 15K races here – it’s such a cool distance!

It was cool here too all week until Saturday!!
I agree. A great distance but very few around here. I have a local one in Nov and another in Dec (in NYC). Both are hilly lol

You got a nice lot done there! Here, it was really hot Tuesday for our evening club run and Thursday for my morning run (and only getting hotter as we went) but then cooled down for Friday and Sunday’s runs – phew!

Strange weather. It was fall like and then extremely hot. Today it was cool again.

We have this coming Friday off and I can’t wait to just relax and take it easy. Well done on another race in the bag, and a good call on Sunday – I bet it felt wonderful to be on the lake!
