FFF: Ultimate Coffee Date for Dec. ’21

It’s that time of the month…

Amazon.com: Ceramic Running Christmas Coffee Mug | Running's My Favorite : Home & Kitchen

time to join up with Coco & Deborah
for their ultimate coffee date.

1. Over coffee…

I’d tell you that 2021 seems to have sped by.  But I think I’m on track (barring injury) to reach my 1000 mile running goal.

as of today, I’m up to 935!!!

2.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I’m not into challenges and definitely not one related to ST but in November I actually completed one:

One 60 Second Plank each day for 30 days (through ZOOMA run club)

3.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that what I like about this Plank challenge was that it only took ONE minute a day… and it got easier rather than harder. Since I was working from home, I could do it any time of the day and even in my PJs or running clothes.

May be a closeup of text

Most plank challenges have you add time each day… so that you get stronger..

Hey, a one minute plank was a big enough deal for me. LOL

4.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that no, I was not tempted to continue my planks after November 30.

But due to the time change, I’ve had to do more of my 3 mile weekday runs at lunch time (or lighted UAlbany) and do my walks at the mall (both outdoor and indoor).

5.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I only have one more race for 2021.  That makes 21 for the year. (That number was just an accident.)

I’m pretty excited about this fun one because it was canceled last year and I was injured in 2019.  And you get to dress up.  But more importantly is that this is the last year for the Holiday Lights in the Park so it will most likely be the last year for this race. Sigh.

Happy Running! What’s new with you? Any challenges completed?  Any holiday-themed runs or races planned? Please share.

  1. Yay on being on track to reach your milage goal. Obviously my Achilles wrecked mine!

I’m with you on plank challenges that build and build. I honestly question the value of a 5 min plank. I used to be able to do 2-3 minute planks, but the Peloton workouts max out at 1 min at a time, so that’s where I’m at now. 😉

Enjoy your last race of 2021!

    • I was not injured a all this year…that helped. You have a good excuse but you are amazing with those peleton workouts.

I’m looking forward to my last race. My friends are planning a pot luck dinner after to celebrate our friendship & running.

  2. The holiday-themed races are sparse in my area these days. There were several options, years ago, but most have gone *poof* and aren’t around anymore. That said, there is one that Barb found next weekend, a Santa run 5K, but we haven’t decided if we’re partaking or not.

  3. Wow 21 races this year!? that is pretty impressive for a yar like this one. You are the racing queen. Nice job on those planks. Did you feel or see any difference after doing them for a month?

    • no on the planks. I think because it’s only 1 minute. They got easier if I could distract myself by playing music.

I love to race and am lucky we have any scheduled in my area. Ii did feel safe doing them too.

    • I should. But it means that I had no injuries. Knock on wood. Many years I did not. It’s not do or die. Just some extra motivation to run consistently and not slack off.

  4. Good job planking! I was concerned I wouldn’t have time to run if I had to serve for jury duty, since I’m not a night runner & I really don’t have much reflective stuff for when it’s dark. Grateful it didn’t happen.

Otherwise same old, same old, no real plans.

  5. I like that plank challenge. i heard somewhere that there’s not much benefit to doing longer and longer planks. I don’t know if that’s true but it sounds good.
Congratulations on wrapping up a great year- 21 races and 1000 miles- great job!

  6. 21 races!!! An impressive accomplishment. I have only run 3 races: 2 virtual and 1 in person. My minimum goal for the next year is 1 race per month.
    I like the plank challenge.
I am sure you will reach the 1000 mile goal.

    • That’s a great goal. That’s the minimum for me. I’m lucky that we have so many local races. I don’t run every one since I had to do long runs.

I should get to 1000. Fingers crossed.

  7. I read somewhere that a one minute plank is all you need for the benefits and I can do anything for one minute.
I’ve only done 2 10k’s and 1 half this year. How the heck did you do 21 races? Strong work!

  8. Congrats on the planking challenge! I hadn’t done them in ages and now I realize that 30 seconds is a struggle for me, so I’m hoping to mix it in more often!

I hope you have a great race! The holiday/jingle jogs always look fun and festive.
