After having rained almost part of every day last week, I was wondering if the same would happen this week.
Also as I have complained numerous times, we are now expected to work in the office at least three days a week.
But due to a day off, I only worked in the office on Wednesday and Thursday. A great way to ease back in. Next week will be the full three days. Sigh.
Both my job and the weather make fitting in runs quite a challenge… but so far, so good. (Remember I do not own a treadmill or belong to a gym.)
Last Week:
- Monday – I had the day off from work. My original plan was to go boating yesterday, sleep on the boat and then do some hiking up there today.
We didn’t go boating yesterday as it rained last night and today.
Plan B?
Hiking in the rain… And re-visit some of my favorite waterfalls.
I lucked out on the first hike. It rained on my whole hour drive out but stopped once I arrived in Canajoharie.
Since the rain had stopped, I decided to drive a half hour further to Owen D Young Nature Trail (my all time favorite place with at least 15 waterfalls).
As soon as I arrived, it started to pour. I left my poles behind and grabbed an umbrella. And I had a wonderful time.
I had to rush home since this evening was my first Freihofer Training Challenge group run. I am an ambassador for this race so I need to participate to support them. I chose Monday night because it was the only night that I was free. And I joined the intermediate group since the Advanced group this year only met on Thursday (my Trail group night.)
Obviously I was tired from hiking but excited to meet up with new and old running friends. It was raining and I was very tempted to bail. But I went and happily the rain stopped.
And guess what? Two of the women wanted to be in the advanced group as well so we will run together from now on.

the purple shirt is dedicated to a mentor that died this year. Purple was her favorite color and she was also a STEM mentor (the team color is purple as well.)
- Tuesday – I woke up to rain, Again! But it stopped early and I got in a lunch time run on the rail trail.
After work, it stayed dry for a walk with my BFF at the outdoor mall (Oddly enough, it is where I walk when I go to the office.)
- Wednesday – Back in the office… trying to keep my lunch
Starbuckswalk streak

it was supposed to cloudy and rainy. instead it was sunny, hit the nearby woods for some shade (and bugs)
and then after work attend our Wednesday Ice Cream Run.
Of course, there was a threat of rain/thunderstorms. As soon as I got done with work, the skies opened up. It poured and poured. And so I waited and waited. Finally I drove to Six Mile Waterworks where the run was being held and sat in my car contemplating if I wanted to run in the pouring rain. Other runners were there and going to run so I decided that I would too. And then it stopped raining. It was muddy but I ran the whole thing (and didn’t fall this week.)
- Thursday – Back in the office again. Since the trails would be very muddy after last night’s torrential rains, I decided to get up early and get in a few miles.
The lunch/Starbucks walk streak is still alive.
and this on the nature path:
After work, our weekly group trail run was held. Finally one with NO rain predicted. Yay!
I had tome to kill so I picked up my ambassador swag for the Freihofer 5k. If you are interested in running it (even virtually), sign up here and use my code (ambdc10) for $10 off.
This week’s run was scheduled at Tawasentha Park. Another very muddy run/walk. But so fun be with so many friends and other runners.
It was Judy’s birthday eve so we had to celebrate with ice cream.
- Friday – Working at home and a rest day. My work schedule and my running schedule are definitely not in sync. But there was No ice cream and No Starbucks coffee and pastry. I call this a diet win.

Iced Chocolate Almondmilk Shaken Espresso = my new favorite
There were several walks and evening mah jong with the girls.
- Saturday – Long Run Saturday with my peeps. My plan was 9 miles and run some of these with others and then brunch after. Of course, rain was predicted for morning and thunderstorms for the afternoon. Oh joy!
It did not rain but was warm and HUMID. And thanks to friends, I got it done.

1 mile w/Barbara, 1 mile w/Jenny, 2 miles w/Debbie and the rest solo (and cheer on Jenn on her 15 miler.)
- Sunday – In between raindrops, I was able to squeeze in a nice hike.
This Coming Week on the Run–

I am sure it is hard to get used a new schedule again. You did a great job of fitting it in this week. I like the look of your ice cream run

Great job getting your runs done this week! We didn’t have much rain this week. Yesterday it stormed in the afternoon which cooled things off. Hope you did ok being back in the office!

I survived but didn’t enjoy it. Oh well.
At least there’s other more important stuff happening. Family friends etc.

Adjusting back to being in the office is way harder than adjusting to being home back in March 2020, ha! Great job though still fitting in so much. That ice cream cone looks delicious 🙂

I know, right?
That was great. The One the night after was even better. Coffee Nutella twist.

I’m glad the week wasn’t a total washout. We were supposed to get rain yesterday, but just saw a few drops when I was walking Scooby in the afternoon. I’m going into the office two days this week — at least there will be Starbucks!

Same. The office means Starbucks.
It rained yesterday afternoon. And last night. Raining again now.
Well at least the rain didn’t cancel any runs.

Wow, you had a wet and eventful week! All that rain is resulting in some beautiful foliage. Have you tried the Starbucks brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso? My son and husband LOVE that one!

Yes. It’s good too.
It’s hard when it rains in the weekend and you own a boat.
At least I got all my runs in.

I’ll bet all that rain wears on you. We’ve had intermittent sprinkles all week just because it’s been so flipping humid. It’s a gorgeous weekend though so I won’t complain. Gorgeous flowers! I had some Mint Oreo frozen custard this week that was very delicious.

Yum. That sounds awesome.
Rain on and off ALL weekend. Ugh.

Yikes, so much rain! Good for the grass and flowers. At least that is what I tell myself when it rains a lot here too. 🙂 It’s been a while since I picked up anything from Starbucks. Maybe this week I’ll get something.

So do you get to work from home the other 2 days? I mean, it could be worse….I’ve been going to the office all year. I’m sure it’s hard to get used to going back again. Hang in there.

Yes it could be worse.

Wow, so much rain! I know how annoying that can be. We’ve had a lot of rain in the forecast, and more often than not, nothing shows. That’s not a complaint, but it is frustrating trying to plan around the supposed rain.

It is so frustrating. Glad it did work last week. Hopefully this week it will be better.

We were supposed to get so much rain this week but it never really came – we just had tons of clouds, which I think added to the stifling humidity. I’m hoping for a break in the heat and humidity this upcoming week.
Love the swag that you picked up for Freihofer 5k!

I bet it is hard juggling work and run schedules but it looks like you did a great job this week! There was so much rain this week – felt like I should be building an ark LOL! Glad you were able to stay upright on the trails.

That Tuesday action shot is awesome.
I was so glad for Saturday’s rain and today’s overcast, but I’m on pavement so that’s a big difference. LOL at the outdoor mall walk — we met there at least once for Starbucks.

Ugh…that shot makes me look crazy and skinny.
Yes we did meet there… It is a problem working so close…
I think the rain just stopped. I’m going for my Starbuck, I mean walk.

Here’s hoping you’ll get back into the groove of working in your office quickly. It’s got to be a bummer going back in when you can work so easily from home. I do have to say that I was thrilled to see my clients in person again.

That’s the issue. I am more productive at home. Once I travel, it’ll be a different story,

It feels like it rained forever here. Ugh. I’m over it.
That being said! I love that shirt and the tribute to what sounds like an amazing woman. I hope you enjoy the training group. I know how much you love that race.
So many great hikes, too! I can’t bring myself to get outside right now. Too much heat and humidity and too many bugs. Gross.
