Pandemic Runfessions for April

It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice

1. I runfess…

I have not worn clothes other than running clothes since I started working from home on March 17.  It’s not because they are comfortable. It’s because no one is seeing me and it saves time getting out the door to go for a walk or run.

I do worry that my work clothes may no longer fit.

Do you wear running clothes even when you are working from home?

2. I runfess…

I have spent a lot of time searching for new places to walk or run.  Usually I ran near wherever I was working.  Now working from home makes me want to leave the neighborhood as quick as possible and discover a different environment.

Did you run in different locations or did you stay close to home?

3.I runfess…

I never ran with a mask on.

I know you think I should have.  I always wore a buff around my neck and could have pulled it up if I felt I was dangerously close to someone else.  But I never felt that way.

Did you run in a mask?

4. I runfess…

I signed up for the Peleton app since it was free for 90 days.  And there were so many really great outdoor running workouts that I could do.  I went as far as pre-loading them.  But unfortunately, they still need an Internet connection and I do not  have unlimited data on my phone so I’ve only used them a few times and the shorter ones.  They would be a lot more useful for me if I had a treadmill.

Do you use the Peleton app outdoors?

5.I runfess…

I may be enjoying my walks more than my runs. I think it is because they are more scenic and I love taking pictures of nature. I am walking everyday at lunch but as I have mentioned, I am always dressed in running clothes and so I could be running at that time. It is so easy to lose that running mojo when you are not racing.

Is it just me? Are you still motivated to run when they are no races?

It’s Friday so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five linkup! Join in! Don’t forget to link back to your hostess and visit some other bloggers.

Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Please share.

  1. I don’t wear a mask when I run–but like you I do wear a buff around my neck that I can pull up if needed. Luckily, I don’t need to do it often.

It’s a good thing I don’t need racing to feed my running mojo. I just like to run.

  2. I don’t wear a mask when I run. My hubby and I have been driving to the trails. Not every day but once or twice a week. The chances of us encountering other people on the trails where we run is very low, it hasn’t happened yet. The state game lands a big and there are lots of trails to run on. I have had it with virtual races. I am ready to run a real race! I hope the fall races really happen.

    • I have tried the runs and I like them…it’s just the data drain. I have not done any exercise indoors. My bad.

I have not tried on my jeans. Ignorance is bliss they say lol

  3. I wore a buff when it was colder and could pull it over my nose if I felt it was necessary, but luckily I didn’t have to. It’s so much warmer now that I think having something around my neck would really bother me, so I’m not wearing it…but then, there are very few people out while I’m running/walking and it’s easy to cross the street to avoid them.

I do miss my running friends. I always a social runner, and this just stinks.

    • It does bother me…often I have to take it off and shove it into my pocket.

I am definitely social runner and a social eater lol

  4. I only wear a mask to the grocery store. I see so few if any people when I’m out running, I don’t see a need. I love that you’re finding new scenery. All of my runs are done from home. I can fashion a 22 miler from here if I want to so there’s no need to drive anywhere. I may be in the minority but I’m more motivated than ever to run right now. I don’t need races. I’ve done all the races I care to do. What??

    • What???? Lol. You need to do we can meet. Zooma!!

My development is so small so I have to run on main roads. No thanks.

I wear a mask in stores too.

  5. I run and walk with a buff but I wear a mask when I have to go to the grocery store.

I usually work in leggings and a tshirt, but I do put on jeans 2-3 days a week just to make sure that they still fit, lol. I know that if they fit, my work pants will also fit.

    • I know…the same with neighborhood walks. That;s why I cannot run in the neighborhood. I have to have new scenery!! Running is hard enough.

I only get dressed because I can’t run and walk in PJs lol

  6. I alternate between running clothes, yoga clothes, and pajamas. I haven’t worn makeup in months. If I “do” my hair, it’s a messy bun or pony tail. What can you do?

I stick to o the same running area (my neighborhood), but I vary the route.

We just bought masks. I really wanted to get at least one each for my parents, and then just ordered when I found patterns I liked. I haven’t ben in a store or building since we started shutting down, and I really haven’t felt the need to wear one outside since I am never really near anyone else. We have them if we need them, at least.

    • Makes sense. I do out but I really feel safe. I wear a buff in a store and that’s it.

I can’t wait to go out and dress up. Crazy?

  7. We don’t have a mask mandate (yet), but many are wearing them in the stores. I sometimes wear a buff on my “daylight” runs, just so I have it…but I really don’t see anyone. I’m not having any problems staying motivated, but I do miss the camaraderie of races! Like you, I do a lot of races (under normal circumstances), so it’s really odd not having those weekend excursions to look forward to.

  8. I run close to home, mostly because it’s more efficient. I heard some carriers have waived data limits, so you might want to check on that. But, if you pre-load the workout does it use data or just play? You could test it by turning off cellular data and seeing if it still works. I use the Peleton App for indoor workouts anyway.

  9. I’m the same, I have the buff but I haven’t needed to pull it up. I also haven’t worn anything when we walk in the neighborhood (although sometimes I have a buff on).

I went out to do stuff a couple of times this week. Once I used a scarf, the other time I used another buff.

Of course I’ve been living in leggings a long time. It makes it easy for me to be able to workout out throughout the day without getting changed a gazillion times.

    • I am really looking forward to dressing up but not changing my clothes several times a day. Believe it or not I don’t own leggings. So it’s just skirts.
