Runfessions for March

It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice

1. I runfess…

I have finally graduated from PT and doctor appointments.(Perfect timing considering what is happening right now.)

So I have extra $$ for racing. LOL (if there were any happening…)

But I am slacking off on any of those exercises that I should be dong to strengthen my hips, calves, glutes, quads, etc.

Do you continue your PT prescribed exercises once you are healthy?

2. I runfess…

I broke up with my chiropractor. (and that was before she closed her practice…)

I started going for ART when I strained my calf and then I was going monthly for tune-ups but once my foot started hurting in November, I stopped. And now she is pregnant.

Do you regularly go to a chiropractor?

3.I runfess…

I have now registered for SEVEN half marathons for the year…. (if they were cancelled, I ran them virtually)

Now that my foot no longer hurts, I’m thinking about #8. Crazy, right?

hot, hilly and humid

Update:  My April Half has been postponed until August 29 so this one won’t have to happen.  Since I am running all my races (virtually), I am sticking with one half per month.  3 down…9 to go.  LOL

4. I runfess…

I almost registered for the Cherry Blossom 10 MiIer.

I have always wanted to run this race.  I didn’t enter the lottery but I found out that so many runners offer bib transfers. Flights were cheap. It was tempting but I only worked two days at the Bar Exam instead of three.  That meant I lost my extra $$$ plus Bermuda was expensive.

(Turns out it didn’t matter because the race was cancelled.)

Next year…Perhaps?

5.I runfess…

I did not register for the 2020 NYC Marathon because at the time I was still experiencing foot pain. I wasn’t sure if it would ever go away. I did not want to run 26.2 miles like that. It was hard enough without foot pain.

But when only 2% of those who entered the lottery got in, I felt guilty that I had a timed entry (from Helderberg to Hudson Half 2019) and I did not register.

The race was cancelled after Hurricane Sandy so technically 2021 is the 50th running of the race.

So maybe next year… (If that foot pain stays away and I can get back to running at a decent pace or I get in by the lottery.)

It’s Friday so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five linkup! Join in! Don’t forget to link back to your hostess and visit some other bloggers.

Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Please share.

    • Most of the 11 or so cancelled were just planned. So far haven’t lost much money but it is depressing. I feel bad for the running companies and businesses.

    • I had signed up for those fall races before the cancellations. But mostly I’m just training as if they weren’t cancelled. Why not?

  1. I went to a chiropractor when I was having issues with my hamstring. He was doing ART, which had really worked for my hubby when he was injured a few years ago (different doctor). I didn’t really feel as though it was very effective. I broke up with him after a few sessions. I also thought he didn’t listen to me when I was describing my symptoms. I am religious about doing the stretches I got from the ortho guy who finally fixed my hamstring. I don’t want a repeat of that mess!

  2. I do not see my Chiro regularly unless there is an issue. That said, he’s been putting some great stretches and exercises on his IG. Doesn’t Bermuda seem like such a luxury after all that’s happened since? I can’t believe ZOOMA’s Texas race went off without a hitch too right before everything hit the fan.

    • I may do it next year with Cari. It’s easy to get a bib even if you don’t get in through the lottery.

But hopefully at some point the cherry blossoms will bloom here. May??

  3. It’s funny I had thought about Cherry Blossom this year too, but couldn’t make it work with my schedule…and then all this happened. Maybe in 2021?

It’s great to hear that your foot’s feeling better and you graduated PT. Ironically I was supposed to start just as everything shut down. I know enough of the exercises from past sessions that I’m just trying to do some on my own. It’s hard once you feel good again to want to keep doing them!

  4. I’m with you on the PT exercises. I’m at home all the time now so you think it would be easier to get them in but nope. They’ve completely fallen off the radar. I need to get back on the wagon with those again.

  5. Deborah & I we’re chatting about things, and she said she was glad I came LAST year for the Cherry Blossom because this year was a wash. I had considered putting in for the lottery, but didn’t …maybe next year (?). I’m glad I got that one done, and we had perfect weather when I was there 🙂 my luck is not always on my side LOL

  6. You need to do your PT!!!! I don’t do everything everyday, but I do a lot of it. I have never been to a chiro, and don’t think I ever will. The idea of adjustments turns my stomach, even more so after i broke my leg. I can’t handle that cracking LOL!

I have tons of extra $$$ for races, but I can’t do any of them. I think I will put in for the Cherry Blossom lottery for next year. I need DC and I would love to run that race.

    • I never went to a chiro before I hurt my calf. No cracking. Very similar to the stretches done by PT but better.

My foot was nerve related not overuse or injury.

If you don’t get into lottery, you go to the site and do many transfer bibs.

Maybe I’ll see you there or NYC.

      Running Fort Lauderdale next Feb.

  7. LOL. Crazy 8s
I keep up my PT especially since I learned that it was the same issue (broadly) that caused the achilles tendonosis last year and the IT Band this year. It’s harder now since I can’t do all the exercises, but I’m doing the best I can.
    I don’t do chiropractors.
