It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest for the last time in 2018 with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…

2. I runfess…
I planned to run a Florida Half as I always do just to stay motivated to run during those frigid winter temps. Then I qualified for the NYC Half so, of course, I had to sign up for that one. I needed one to seriously train for and I picked a NEW local one in May. Then a new half was announced for April. It’s very nearby and is DOWNHILL.
And now I have FOUR half marathons scheduled in FOUR months. Oy!
3. I runfess…
I went to a medical appointment recently and they made me get on the scale. (I don’t have a scale at home.) I was wearing a coat and boots… My first thought was that they must have added ten extra lbs.
My second thought was about that 4P Mother-of-the Groom dress that I bought last summer…will it still fit?
My third thought: Maybe I should cut back on my desserts and post run rewards?
My fourth thought: Maybe I should put batteries in my home scale.
What do you think?
4. I runfess…
I am part of a FB group for the NYC Half Marathon. I think all 25,000 runners are posting in it daily. Anyway, the only reason I joined the group was to sign up for the bus from Manhattan to the start in Brooklyn. I did (good thing since the first bus filled up in 4 hours).
It would be rude to leave the group now, right?
5. I runfess…
I won the book Couch to Active in a recent blog giveaway. Well, I am pretty active, as you know. I entered the giveaway because I’d like to give it to someone else who has expressed interest in running.
Would you be insulted if someone gave this book to you?
It’s Friday so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup! Join in! Don’t forget to link back to your hostess and visit some other bloggers.
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Please share.
I would never get on a scale wearing a coat and boots! I’m sure they could add several pounds. I would leave the FB group, or at least turn off notifications and/or hide it from your feed. You’ve got a great race calendar going already!

A busy one but it should keep me running.
Yes I’m ignoring the feed.

Geez a coat and boots? Why?? If the person expressed interest in running, I don’t think that book would be offensive. Great race schedule so far!

I know. I asked if she could wait until I took them off.
Just hope I stay healthy enough to run them all.
I am going to give her the book tonight.

A coat & boots will definitely add a lot of pounds. Just shoes add a couple. I think you’ll be fine.
Who is going to know that you left the group except for you? I would. I really don’t like big FB groups.
I guess we won’t be seeing much for long runs on weekends. 🙂

Only because you do your long runs on Fri or Thurs. I plan to keep my Saturday long runs if possible and run the shorter distance at the Winter Series. I hope you do some of my races too. Remember that 5k PR?

I do my long run on Thursday (only when weather forces my hand) or Friday because I can’t get it done on Sat. And it’s also harder for me to get out early now because of Gizmo.
But you have a lot of Sat races! And no, I haven’t forgotten my 5k PR. My racing calendar for next year is wide open right now, it’s really just about what’s going on in my life.

Can Lloyd take care of the cat on Saturdays?
Many of the races are on Sunday – Winter Series, Shamrock, Delmar Dash and some are on Sat but I can do my long run on Sun or just add miles.
Unfortunately life does get in the way and other things are way more important than running. We all have stuff. I have a relative going through a divorce and a friend with cancer, etc. Hope your life stuff turns out not to be serious.

Yup, we all have stuff.
Unfortunately at the moment giving Gizmo fluids is a 2 person operation, and Lloyd is helping. It helps if I’m calm, and rushing around to get dressed and out the door doesn’t make me calm.
We’ll get to a time when it’s not a 2 person operation, I’m sure, I always did it with my other cats & they weren’t any easier. In fact, Giz is probably easier than the other 2 were in the beginning. It just takes time for them to connect the dots that this makes them feel better — they always do at some point.

Glad I don’t have to do this. With both of us working and my traveling, it couldn’t happen. Giz is one very lucky cat.

That’s a lot of races for 2019! I’m still figuring things out for next year. I ended up getting a free entry to RnR DC so I know I’m doing that half at least 🙂

I’d love to do RnRDC. I have registered for my half marathons. The others are just planned.

Your 2019 calendar is already looking quite full! I think I only have 4 races on mine so far, lol.
A coat and boots will definitely add a good 5lb to the scale!

Darn it. Only 5?
It looks full but I’ve only registered for the halfs and the Jan & Feb races. The others are just planned. You never know…

Wow, that is quite a running calendar for the first half of the year! Awesome!!
I always take off my coat and sometimes shoes when I step on the scale. I have one at home too but need to get batteries. 🙂

I think I do too but no batteries. I am afraid to get on it. I don’t like to obsess about my weight if I am healthy. Just want my clothes to fit.
Hope I can run all those races!!

I agree! I am in no rush to get batteries. My clothes still fit so I am good with that.

OK, that downhill half marathon would seriously tempt me – I know they are quad killers but still…DOWNHILL!!! You have a ton of fun races ahead for 2019.
As for the scale/wedding dress – I mean, there’s always alterations, right? Nah, I know you’ll fit fine in it – you always look so tiny!

It’s not as downhill as it seems but better than uphill.
The dress was tight when I bought it. As incentive not to gain weight. I have 3 months to lose some. Thanks for the compliment. Running skirts can hide a lot.

I dont think I’d be insulted. Especially if they had mentioned they wanted to start a fitness regimen now that the new year is approaching. New year, new you right? My sister ran the NYC half the other year and she said that jas been her favorite race.

I hope I like it. I’m excited. I also hope the weather is good. I’m not lucky that way.

I runfess that I didn’t enter that giveaway because I don’t have an interest in the topic…what can I say?

I’d leave the FB group…there’s probably a lot of the “groupies” you don’t even know, right? And, I bet it’s the same 10-20 people doing all the daily posting LOL

True. I just hid it.

I signed up for 7 halfs so far. The 1st one is in March noeth of Boston. Seemed like a good idea at the time. My goal is 12 halfs in 2019.

That’s a great goal. Good luck.

Some of those FB groups are ridiculous. I do Run the Year and the first month is all the resolutionists, on steroids. What if I can’t run, does walking count. Ad nauseaam.
Only 24,999 are posting in the NYC Half one because I kept forgetting to join. Talked to my brother about Sacandaga Half, forgot to mention the other. Will do that.
Scales with clothes on are so annoying — and your boots probably were heavy. Good luck with the dress!

The holidays are over. The eating should calm down. Unless you want to take Bus 4, don’t join. It’s crazy. You should do April 13. Downhill half. Can’t find that in NYC.
Happy new year.
