This was supposed to be a big racing month -5K, 10k, 15K, Half Marathon!!
Unfortunately the weather interfered with two of those races :(.
Here’s how the month went:
Weekday Runs:
I was able to run at least 3 times outdoors most weeks which is great because I HATE the treadmill (though a snowstorm forced me on it once.)
- Colonie Town Park
- UAlbany
- hotel tm
I ran a few times while working in NYC and on Long Island. Otherwise I ran locally. My weekday runs were usually around 3 miles (occasionally more and occasionally less).
- Central Park
- Hudson River
- Eisenhower Park
Unfortunately I missed ALL of my Turkey Trot Training Monday group runs. I missed ALL of the Saturday ones too but I had no intent of attending those. Although I love this group, if my work schedule does not change, I will not sign up again next year.
Long Runs:
I did my best to get in a few long runs in to prepare for my 33rd half marathon this month. It helped that I have great running friends.
- 10 miles instead of 11
- 9.4 that should have been 12
- 8 miles
Total Mileage:
I’ve run 78 miles so far this month. It may be a slight increase over last month and I am still behind on my 1000 mile yearly goal. But the important thing is that I am feeling healthy so all is good.
Races:
November is usually a popular month for racing and this November followed suit. I ran the Stockade-athon 15k and got a PR. Unfortunately the Girls on the Run 5k a week later was cancelled. Then on Thanksgiving Day, I DNSed the Troy Turkey Trot 5k. Two days later I did run the HILLY Pelham Half Marathon and won my age group.
- Stockade-athon – 15K PR
- Pelham Half Marathon
Cross Training:
Due to my work schedule, I only played tennis once and I did NOT work out at the gym at all.
I did not walk at lunch at all. Of course, I got a lot of steps in during my work time in NYC.
Other News:
Despite all my work travel, I was able to squeeze in some friend, family and hubby time. I even saw TWO movies (Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born.)
Feeling healthy so Life Is Good.
Looking Ahead:
Half Marathon #34 is February 10, 2019.
This is my list so far for the next 2 months:
- 12-01-18 – Jingle Bell Run 5k ???
- 12-08-18 – Albany Last Run 5K
- 12-09-18 – Winter Series #1 (3m)
- 01-01-19 – Winter Series #2 (3.5m)
- 01-13-19 – Winter Series #3 (10K)
- 01-24-19 – Winter Series #4 (15k)
(Winter Series races are local and FREE)
I am linking to Deb at DebRuns for her December Race Linkup:
No monthly goals.
This motto worked for 2016 & 2017 so I’m sticking with it in 2018!

My Topic is: Give your running month a letter grade.
I’d say overall a B+
Despite my busy schedule, I did my best to get in my weekday runs. My long runs actually got done but were not as long as they should have been. I did play tennis once but did not go to the gym at all. I ran a 15k race PR and a half marathon.
Not a bad month but feel a lacking in the mojo department. (I even DNSed a race which is so unlike me.) It is maybe the cold weather and early winter snows. I better get used to it. It’s only just begun.
I am also joining up with Running on Happy, Suzlyfe, Crazy Running Girl, and Coach Debbie Runs for the Coaches’ Corner linkup
Happy Running! How did your November turn out? Anything exciting planned for December? What grade would you give your running month? Does the cold weather zap your mojo?
Any month with a PR in it is a great one in my book. Wow look at all those races coming up! Busy lady! We are movie twins! Loved both of those.

I agree. PRs are hard to come by.
Any other movies you recommend?
Since most of those races are free, they may not happen if the weather is bad.

November has been an impossibly dreary month here. It rained more than April (and half of that rain was snow!).
I’d say you had a fantastic month with your 15k PR & winning your AG in a large half. You don’t give yourself enough credit.
Absolutely nothing exciting planned for December. Or January for that fact . . .

I was the only one in my AG so no great achievement there.
Nothing exciting planned for Dec or Jan here either. Just the winter series.

Well, it’s still a great achievement that you’re out there & tackling a hard course.

I apologize if you are getting multiple comments from me. Somehow they are disappearing!
Embarking on your 33rd half is really something, wow!
My running was pretty slim in November. I actually don’t mind using the treadmill though, but when i do I feel guilty for not being outside. (My using the treadmill had little to do with the weather and more to do with being lazy…haha) -M

Good for you. I wish I liked the treadmill more.

It looks like you had a busy month! I cannot believe we are almost in December, where has this year gone?!?!

I know. I can’t believe it’s almost 2019.

you know, i think you did great actually. you were away for work, the weather was crap enough to have to go on a treadmill, so you had a DNS? You saw family, friends, had 78 miles anyway and saw two movies. AND got a PR and an AG. pretty amazing in my book 🙂
November was … great and odd and spontaneous. I don’t know how much I ran in November. I have not been feeling it, but lack of a goal or schedule does that to me. I mean I can’t complain, I went to Las Vegas for the 5K and Half and got to meet a longtime blogging friend from Canada (we had a blast!). But I’ve been feeling “meh” and I know I have to get used to the dark mornings and evenings and the rain and the wind and the cold…
one race on the books in December – the bruggenloop (Bridge Run) in Rotterdam. looking forward! last year it was cancelled because we had heaps of snow the night before.

Hope you Dec race goes off.
I feel the same now that I don’t have a half until Feb. tough to make yourself get out the door esp. when the weather sucks.
Running in Vegas is a big deal!!!! I met her too for a few moments.
I wish I could run more RnR races or get back to Europe.

Although the weather affected two of your races this month, you were still super busy!
Congrats again on your PR too!

I love how you have that many races planned already for next month! I wish I was able to race that often.

They’re free so they may not happen if the weather is bad.

My November was pretty dismal…no races (other than my local turkey trot) and very low mileage. I have been feeling the effects of all that 26.2 training, so I’m really trying to scale back on the running, and (as you know) that is tough LOL The weather has been really blah…so it’s been a great month to NOT be running much (glass half full).

Even if you’re not running a lot, you are always so active.

Great work, as always. November was meh. I got sick. There was travel. Too many things to get done. I kept my miles kind of up there, but it was probably one of my worst months of the year. Womp. Womp.

Hopefully next month will be better.
Getting the miles in a good thing.

I feel your pain with the weather! Winter arrived here early and with vengeance and freezing cold temps, so I have been on the ‘mill!! Hope the race this weekend turns out well for you!!

The mill is tempting but I hate it.
I think I’m going this weekend’s race. At least I didn’t register yet.

A PR and an age group win!!! That is so awesome! You must be pleased with those results despite missing the other two races!
