It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest about my most recent race-cation in France with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
1. I runfess…
I know that I made the right decision to DNS my Thanksgiving Turkey Trot but there were so many friends who did run, I had major FOMO.
2. I runfess…
I did not DNS the Thanksgiving race because it was too cold. I had all my layers ready but I was worried about running a race so close to my half marathon (which was two days later.) The coach told me to run it easy and not to race it but knowing me, I would have….
3. I runfess…
Although I have complained about all my travel for work, I will miss some of my favorite running routes. I will still be traveling but to NYC.
- while working in Buffalo
- along the Erie Canal in Rochester
4. I runfess…
I feel grateful to still be setting PRs this year. As I age, I hope I will be able to accept getting slower.
- Bacon Hill – 5k PR
- Delmar Dash – 5 Mile PR
- Stockade-athon – 15K PR
5. I runfess…
This year I will have the lowest total mileage since 2014. I guess if I am healthy it shouldn’t matter. But since I do not do any cross-training and I rarely play tennis anymore, I feel like I should step it up.
2018 – 886 miles so far
2017 – 1041.5 miles
2016 – 1046 miles
2015 – 969 miles
It’s Friday so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup! Join in! Don’t forget to link back to your hostess and visit some other bloggers.
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Please share.
I don’t think you’re really that far off your miles. And since you’re traveling so much, cut yourself some slack. Quality over quantity.
Those medals are cool, but I runfess only my half medals really have meaning for me. I also runfess it totally slipped my mind that tomorrow is the first of the month and therefore it’s tea time . . .

I definitely agree about quality. But my runs are pretty lacking. Walking a lot with slower runners and taking lots of photos. But I do enjoy my runs that way. It just doesn’t prepare me for races.
Tea time is ready for tomorrow.

Runfessions slipped into my weekly wrap, and maybe coffee too if I post the photo of my new microwave. But with this week only one was real, I missed Tuesdays on the Run too.
I agree with Judy that your mileage is good for your extensive travel – but I also agree with you re: enjoying while photographing. Funny that we were both apologizing for being slow Thursday when neither of us had much in the tank

Yes. Some runs are like that but better than skipping it. Boy was it crowded at the tree!!!

Oooh that is a pretty medal, but you did the smart thing saving yourself for your half.

I think so. I’ll run it next year. Maybe it’ll be warmer.

I don’t blame you for DNSing your race. This early winter is a joy suck, isn’t it? I love that you are still setting PRs. My fastest times are in the rear view mirror. It’s hard to swallow. But as long as I feel that I left it all on the race course, I’m ok with it.

Me too, I think LOL

Smart choice on the DNS! Given all the travel you do for work your mileage is great!

I wouldn’t worry about the yearly mileage. The main reason I don’t ever set mileage goals is because I want to focus on quality running and not quantity. I agree, those high miles look nice, but you’ve had fun along the way and have had some great races (hello…look at all those PR’s). Pat yourself on the back and have an extra glass of wine 😉

I think you played it smart with the Thanksgiving race! I runfess that I did DNS my Turkey Trot because of the cold though!!! 🙂

That’s awesome that you’re still setting PRs and it’s great that you’re healthy (that’s more important than mileage…and better to have quality over quantity :])! :

You totally did the right thing by saving your legs for the half marathon. Sure the medal was nice, but you can always run that race next year! 🙂
