My foot!
Too sore (at times) to run and train…
But I have races to run!!
PTs are all booked!!
Last Week-
- Sunday -I was scheduled to work in Jamaica, Queens Monday and Tuesday so I took the train to Manhattan this morning.
After checking into my hotel, I had plans to see a Broadway show….
I had a little time to kill so I walked (limped) to and around the theater…
and then afterward, I met up with a college friend for drinks on her penthouse terrace and then out to dinner….
- Monday – My normal work day: early subway to Jamaica, work all day, subway back to my hotel.
Again, if you know me, I love to squeeze in a run in NYC.
Nope, I relaxed and met a friend for dinner and drinks… and ice cream.
- Tuesday – Same agenda as the day before except when I was done, I took the train home.
- Wednesday – I started the day at the gym and then one more visit to my chiro…
PT is next on my list of things to do so I can be pain-free.
Impossible to get an appt. The first one I could snag is for July 17!!!!
- Thursday – In Person teaching the next two days… That means Starbucks and lots of time on my feet.
It’s the weekly trail run evening but I had to attend a STEM Board Meeting Zoom call.
When it was over, I met my trail friends for ice cream…
- Friday- Day 2 of teaching and Starbucks..
with mah jongg in the evening.
- Saturday – My normal long run day… and brunch with my local running friends.
and it’s tough to skip it…
I decided to do a 3 mile run/walk with Deirdre to see how I felt.
No pain when running and sore when walking…
But it actually so much better later in the day.. (Am I not injured??)
Afterward we met the 5 others for brunch… it’s always fun to get together.
- Sunday – Gym followed by a day on our boat (weather dependent).
This Coming Week on the Run –
- Monday – DAY OFF – gym, run?
- Tuesday – gym, walk
- Wednesday – run?
- Thursday – trail run/walk
- Friday- gym, mah jongg
- Saturday –Firecracker 4
- Sunday – Hike-athon, boating
This Coming Week on the Blog –
- Tuesday – When to DNS a Race?
- Friday – Ultimate Coffee Date
Happy Running! Training for any big or small races? Is it finally feeling like summer where you live? Are you patient when you shouldn’t run? Any NYC trips planned? Please share.

Hhmmm. I hope your foot is OK.
I’m a bit worried about the timeline for my hip, and know my appointment this week is just the start. ~sigh~

Sounds like a tough week especially with the weather and the race frustrations layered on top. You still showed up and did what you could, which always counts for something. Hope the next stretch feels a bit smoother and gives you a clearer path forward. Keeping good thoughts about your foot.

SIGH! What about something more aggressive, like shockwave treatments? It’s your achilles, right? Maybe it’s already on the mend- your run/walk on Saturday sounds promising.
Good luck with it- I have my fingers crossed for you.

Not sure what the problem exactly.

I know the feeling – calling up the PT office and you have to wait. I feel like “hey, I’m injured. You should fit me in tomorrow!! This is a crisis!” Don’t they understand? 🙂 Your foot issues also sounds tricky – sometimes there, sometimes not? I am doing PT for me knee and I feel a bit silly about it since I don’t really feel “pain”, but it feels off and that’s a red flag for me.

Even if it’s perfectly fine by the time of the appt, I may still go… so that it doesn’t happen again.

How annoying! I’m so sorry, Darlene. That PT appointment in July is ridiculous. By then you’ll have already completed a full race calendar out of spite!
Can you see another PT?

bing in pain is the worst and not knowing what is causing it is very frustrating. I imagine you won’t like my advice-taking some time off to let your body heal is never a bad idea

Interesting that you have more pain when you walk than when you run. That must be a good sign?? That’s a bummer about the PT appointments. At least the 17th is not too far away (not like my 3 month wait for an MRI in 2023) but bad enough when you’re injured and need to get going with fixing it. Aren’t there any other PTs?
At least you were able to get around and do some fun things in NY.

All the PTs are booked. But it is feeling better. We will see if it continues to improve.

Well… maybe your foot just has some sort of short-term injury and is already healing. Maybe continue to baby it and see how it feels to do a short, easy run later in the week? When is your next race?

Next race is Saturday. Gulp.

Noooo! I hate when that foot pain pops up on you! Not cool, foot!
But also look at all your NYC time! I am so excited to be there and run those streets in a few weeks!
Just keep being kind to the foot and we will hope it sorts out!

I’m trying. Not good at it.
I’m sad I can’t be in nyc at the sane time.
We will have to meet up elsewhere.
