Yesterday I ran my THIRD half marathon for 2026.
And I don’t have another scheduled until September!
Last Week –
- Sunday – A rainy cold windy Easter Sunday…
Unfortunately the gym was closed so I went for a walk at a local arboretum (before the rain)..
They opened some new trails. I can’t wait to go back when the trees have leaves and flowers.
In the afternoon, we went to my MIL’s for dinner. The highlight was spending tine with Heather.
- Monday – WFH until April 29!!
I started off the day at the gym…
My friend agreed to meet me for a run at lunch time (on this COLD blustery day)…
In the afternoon I went to the office…
- Tuesday – Another gym morning…
and a walk at lunch with Jenny which was SO WINDY (and feels like 20s cold)
and another walk after work with 2 former co-workers followed by dinner out.
- Wednesday – After work, I met up for the Training Challenge runners (for week 3). 5 min walk, 90:90 9x 5 min walk.
- Thursday – I started the day again at the gym (making up for last week) and then after work, I had to get my bib for Saturday’s race
and I asked my friend to meet me for a run nearby as I was tired of my local routes.
After my run, I met my BFF for a walk around the mall (more talking than walking as she had hurt her foot.)
- Friday- A gym morning, carb loading and babysitting my granddaughter this evening.
and since the weather kept changing (from 70 to 50 degrees), trying to figure out what to wear?
- Saturday – Helderberg to Hudson Half Marathon.
The way this race works is that you park at the finish and take a bus to the start and so your car is at the finish when you are done.
For the first time in years, it was not snowing, raining or freezing… The weather was fine. (Cold at the start but good for running).
I finished and was greeted by many friends volunteering along the way.
Afterward, I met my local running friends for brunch.
- Sunday -gym, walk, gardening, TAXES!
This Coming Week on the Run –
- Monday – run, dinner with tennis friends
- Tuesday – gym, walk
- Wednesday – PM run (week 4 of training challenge)
- Thursday -run
- Friday – gym, mah jongg (chez moi)
- Saturday – Long Run and Brunch, COVID vaccine
- Sunday – gym, Barbie exhibit at NYS museum
This Coming Week on the Blog –
- Tuesday – Helderberg to Hudson Half Marathon Race Recap
- Friday – Spring Running Essentials

wow I cannot believe you still have snow! We have had an unusually warm few weeks and we are in the 80’s this week which is crazy and too soon. Spring is everywhere and summer is quickly following. Congrats on your race!

Still cold here. Loving your flower picks.
Good luck with the birthday dinner and of course the big wedding

It looks like you had beautiful weather for the race- you wore a tank top! And congrats on the AG award (again.)
Our weather has been unsettled this past week, with lots of rain and wind. Of course that was mixed with lots of sunshine as well- it rarely rains all day in Florida. The wind kept the temps somewhat comfortable so I’m not complaining.
Heather looks like such a happy little girl!

Heather is spoiled. In a good way.
Yes many runners were dressed warmer since it was so cold at first. But I was comfortable.

Wait… snow? what the heck! I’m glad your race day was decent. Gotta love that a PW gets you a 3rd AG. That IS a win! Congrats!
Looks like you have a good group for your Training Challenge. Bonus that you had someone to chat with!

Crazy weather!! so much wind.
It was a decent race. We are our own worst critic, right?

Well, I had 24mph wind on my 10-mile run earlier. It was brutal, so I’m glad the temps were in the low/mid 70’s or it would have really been torture.

Running in the wind is tough.

Congrats Darlene, on another half marathon! You’re amazing. No races here–no training for anything but life. I’m really enjoying just running because I can.

Congrats on your 3rd place age group finish! I love those races where you see so many friends along the way and at brunch after the finish.
How fun to babysit Heather on Friday evening!
Ugh to the snow! That’s just plain unfair. LOL

Very lucky for race weather since otherwise the weather has not been kind.

Oh your granddaughter! What a wonderful afternoon and holiday!
And great job on your half! I’m not training for anything too major right now: I’ve got so much going on. I have a 10K in a couple of weeks and then we’ll go from there.
