It’s that time of the month…
time to join up with Coco & Deborah for their ultimate coffee date.
1.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that you probably know, I have THREE half marathons coming up;
-
- 3-15– United NYC Half Marathon (Brooklyn Bridge addition)
- 3-21- Asheville Half Marathon
- 4-11 – Helderberg to Hudson Half Marathon
Half Marathons #76, 77 and 78!!
I shouldn’t be nervous… but I am!!
They seem to get harder….
But using run-walk-run intervals has helped me get through ALL my training runs! Thank you Jeff!!

such an inspiration to runners… he will be greatly missed!!!
2.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that I’ve been experiencing niggles of late.
First it was my lower back. I went to the chiro but a week in Florida seemed to cure that.
When I went to PT, she said that my right SI joint was tight and she gave me exercises to do…
I ‘am going back to PT to complain that my left hip now has bothered me when I run…
It’s always something…
3. Over coffee…
I’d tell you that I am sure everyone in the NE is complaining. We’ve had the worst winter to train for any Spring race.
I am so happy that I escaped for a week… no slippery roads, no jacket or gloves ❤
I have to also mention that my friend Jenny whom I run most of weekday runs with did complete the Tokyo marathon.
It was hot and sunny in Tokyo that day and unfortunately she and many others (even Sara Hall had to DNF) were not acclimated to this weather.
4..Over coffee…
I’d tell you that I and the Race Directors are probably hoping for better weather. So many races this winter had to be cancelled.
So much money lost… medals and shirts all ready. (I didn’t pick mine up but many runners did.)
Will that affect race prices for future races?
5.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that I have a 10k tomorrow… Unfortunately every year, the weather is awful for this race…
And rain is predicted for tomorrow… (it could be worse, it’s not supposed to snow.)
Happy Running! What’s new with you? Please share.

It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with bloggers, Me (My First 5K and More), Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, and Runs with Pugs

Congrats to Jenny! I feel like I know her after reading about her on the blog so much. I’ll bet it was extra hard to run in the heat after training through the winter.
You will be fine for your halfs! Just keep Jeffing : )
Hope that hip calms down. Yes, it’s ALWAYS something!

Feel fine… Today.

It’s crazy Tokyo was so hot when I almost DNF’d due to hypothermia. It was SO cold and rainy when I ran in 2019. Congrats to Jenny for pushing through! Have fun with all those upcoming races. I hope the niggles resolve themselves.

No Matter how many races I ran, I was always nervous right before. It’s normal . You know you will finish and that’s the win!

I do know that. Still…

Good luck tomorrow – maybe the weather will surprise you. I feel like this is the winter that will not end.

I think it will just be cloudy.

it really has been an odd winter, and a brutal one at that! I hope your 10K goes well (and the rain isn’t too nasty).

I think the rain will wait until after.

You should have picked up the NYC 10K swag as it’s a collector’s item since the race never happened. I did that with a DC marathon that was cancelled just four days before the event – the company went bankrupt! Here’s hoping you have decent weather for tomorrow’s race.

The weather was ok. Rain before and after I finished.

Well, now I know you managed to race between rain showers — hopefully that’s a sign for good race conditions to come.
So the NYC is going over the Brooklyn Bridge? I haven’t been following that.
Ugh on the Tokyo conditions. And I guess it’ L.A. today that is concerned about heat? Crazy for so early in the year.

Normally it’s the Manhattan Bridge. First year for the change.
And yes I got lucky yesterday

you know, regardless of weather, training conditions, niggles… you keep going and that is exactly what I love about you!!!
I would definitely try that warm up and some good daily stretches – it is so tough when we get older!!

It is… I am not good about stretching…

Way to go Jenny!
And I’m proud of you for getting those niggles checked out. So many runners just let them slide and they snowball into bigger things.
It stinks when they have to cancel an event. The BDR race group saves all their leftover shirts and medals and does a “Leftover 5K.” You just show up and pick your own shirt and medal from what they have left from previous events. It’s wildly popular and a great way to repurpose extras.

That is so cool.
Shirts are extra here which I love. And no medals except long races. I love that too. I’m not big on bling. Where do you put it?
