It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
1.I runfess…
I had planned to seriously train for my recent half marathon but I skipped too many long runs and I felt guilty signing up for one the weekend before the race.
There was serious FOMO since there were TWO races that weekend that I wanted to run.
- Prospect Mountain Run
- Summer Smith 5k
2. I runfess…
It’s a work in progress but I’m still struggling with accepting my slow(er) pace for short races.
I thought some speed would return…
3. I runfess…
Back to #1, I am happy that I did run those short races instead of those long runs.
- Bacon Hill 10k
Races are much more fun than 11 & 12 mile runs (esp. if you win your age group.)
4. I runfess…
Now that I’m done with half marathons until September, I can relax…
- NYC
- Brooklyn
That is only until July 9 when marathon training officially starts.

5. I runfess…
Yes, marathon training starts but there are so many short races that I want to run.
I already signed up for three four.
Help!! There are so many more…
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Please share.

I’m planning to do some speed work this summer! Of course, that’s what I said last summer and I’m just as slow now as I was then, so… all those short races you run are like speed work. Maybe you’ll still get some speed back, and if not- you’re still winning your AG so you can’t complain too much!

I can’t complain because I am healthy. I have to remind myself. It would be nice to be a little faster or at least have it feel easier.

I’m looking forward to a sabbath from long-distance running for a few months (after tomorrow’s 13.1). But, my new locale has me close to a lot of short races (5K &10Ks aplenty)…so it’s gonna be an interesting summer.

I runfess that you always make me want to sign up for so many races! Even now, I’m considering if I should get up early and go run one tomorrow. Nah. I need a break.
You’re doing great, although FOMO is so real.

LOL. You are are hopeless!
I’m not sure you can complain about being slow when you are winning your AG, but I know it’s hard to let go of those expectations.
Enjoy your races!

LOL. You’re incorrigible.
We both know marathon training will kill speed, but it’s a plan for post NOvember 3 if you’re really not going to run the NYC Half
