Runfessions for January 2024

It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice

…the first one for 2024!!

1.I runfess…

When I was not running  due to an ankle injury, I was still tempted to make running-related purchases.

I mean you always need new shoes when recovering, right?

2. I runfess…

Although I’ve barely started running again, I still haven’t deferred my Feb. 18 half marathon in Florida.

I know I am not in shape to run 13.1 miles but I just can’t pull the trigger yet.

is it because of the medal?

3. I runfess…

I have more running clothes than I’ll ever need but I finally could not ignore the bargains from Skirt Sports (they are going out of business, as you know.)

I wear a “S” but the skirt runs small and the top runs big…

4. I runfess…

I already signed up for our September race-cation race… because I wanted to take advantage of the cheap price.  Hope I don’t burned again.

HALF MARATHON – Early Bird Fee (ONE WEEK ONLY): $75 – January 15, 2024 through January 21, 2024.
Regular Fee: $90 – January 22, 2024 through August 1, 2024. (unless race sells out)
Late Fee: $105 – August 2, 2024 through September 29, 2024. (unless race sells out)
If you are interested in running this race, use this promo code – DARLENESGROUP to get 10 off..

5. I runfess…

I don’t enjoy racing alone.  Yet I registered for the Brooklyn Half Marathon because I time qualified.

I selfishly talked two of my running into entering the lottery.

Phew.. they BOTH got in.

Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Please share.

  1. You can always wear your skirts as cute outfits for running errands, etc. so you really can’t have too many! At least that’s my excuse for buying things like that. 😉

Your fall racecation sounds fun! And yay for getting friends to join you in running the Brooklyn Half.

  2. Yes, they always have a very cool medal for the Ft Lauderdale race. Any chance you could run-walk it? Or are you thinking of doing the 5k?
I agree with Coco- it’s okay to buy new gear and sign up for races when you’re injured. It keeps your spirits up and reminds you that you WILL be running again.
Did you decide you don’t like the Altras?

    • I loved the Altras but they brought me bad luck. LOL

I am thinking of the 5k but not that one. One north on Feb 17. I could run/walk it but it would take so long and I don’t want to ruin my chances of running NYC in March.

    • Oh no. I was hoping to see you in March

But glad you are running Brooklyn. Maybe I’ll get lucky for dry and cool.

Yes there’s a 5k the day before. We will see.

  3. My recent obsession with biking shorts (not necessarily the padded ones, but those with the side pockets) is very comparable to your skirt thing. I wear them for both indoor cycling and outdoor riding (the seat on my indoor bike has an odd shape and rubs me in an awkward place, LOL), I wear them for running as well because the pockets are so nice!

  4. I’ll take that medium off your hands when it doesn’t fit you — it won’t 😀
Bummed I won’t be here in May to spectate everyone. I may run that again one year. Maybe
