Remember how my year began…
Read below and you’ll see how it ended.
Last Week –
We were supposed celebrate the holidays with my stepson & DIL but my hubby was real sick so we postponed it until the new year.
I got a trail walk done before the rain set in and then spent the rest of the day doing errand/shopping.
It rained most of the day so I was not able to get my run done at lunch.
Luckily I could to squeeze in a run after the rain stopped and before I went out to dinner to celebrate a friend’s B-day.
I drove to the rail trail and I was in a rush, lots on my mind, listening to a podcast and then suddenly somehow, I was down on the ground…
Twisted my right ankle (the good one).
I limped back to my car.
Swollen, bruised and very painful… (RICE and tears)
Ankle is still swollen, bruised and painful. (More RICE and tears).
No run with Heidi.

No run with Heidi.
Ankle is less swollen, less painful but more bruised.
Friday is Mah Jongg night and thankfully, you sit when you play. (One of my friends there has metastasized breast cancer that has spread to her bones and now her lungs – puts it all in perspective so no more whining about my ankle).
NO RUN – Just brunch with my friends after THEY finished running.
So they say bad things come in threes:
Then I’m done!!

Oh no! I’m so sorry about your ankle! I was worried first you had broken something. 😬 I hope it gets better quickly! I sprained my ankle several times when I was young and it was absolutely awful.
I’m not joining the rundown this week because it’s been a super busy week and Christmas Eve is our main celebration day (we’re Swedish) so I decided to totally relax these days. But I’ve had an excellent week in the gym and certainly feel I leave this year strong.
I hope your husband is doing better.

Good news that you feel strong.
Hoping my ankle heals soon. Not a patient runner.

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about your ankle. Glad it’s ‘just’ a sprain, although they can be just as bad as a break. Hopefully, it will heal quickly. In the meantime, let everyone take care of you! Enjoy the holidays.

What I’m told is that a sprain takes longer to heal than a break.
Not happy right now.

Oh no, Darlene, I’m so sorry to hear about your ankle, but you do have a good attitude about it. Hopefully, it will heal quickly so you can resume training for your halves.

You have definitely been having a very tough time lately. No matter how tough anyone else has it, it’s okay to feel badly (for a little) about yourself.
If it’s a sprain, hopefully you’ll be running sooner rather than later.
I also hope that your husband is feeling at least somewhat better. It’s a rough time of year. 😦

Sprains heal slower than breaks but not much I can do but wait…
My hubby is on the mend but I think my kitty is history.

OH NO. This sucks so much! You really are not having fun these days. My husband also sprained his ankle- stepping down into the garage- and he’s in a really bad mood. I’m sure you’re googling this like crazy, but as soon as you’re able start doing mobility exercises, and then strength (like balancing on that leg.) You may not be there yet though.
Is your husband okay? You said he had pneumonia- I’m worried about him. And your cat. Yes, bad things come in threes, so you should be done for a long time. Also, this has to be your worst Christmas ever- so it can only improve from here.

Yes. Things can only improve.
I’m in a bad mood too. This Ft. Lauderdale half is jinxed.

Yes, I don’t think he’ll be able to run it. He was already behind on his training, and now this. I think we need to avoid that race in the future!

I’m very sorry about your ankle- how frustrating for sure. But also good point on your friend’s cancer. How tragic…wishing her all the best….what a difficult scenario. Glad she sounds like she has a good friend network for support.
