No rest for the weary since a week after my half marathon, I had signed up for a 5k.
And I am training for another half on Oct. 2.
There were also a group hike and long walk. And TWO vaccines!!!!!
At least it was only a 4-day work week.
Last Week:
- Sunday – Boating Sunday.
The forecast was iffy but we got home before the rain.
And then I went and got my Flu shot.
- Monday – DAY OFF – #nevermissamonday Unfortunately the forecast was for a washout and they were right!
I was lucky to get a dry run in early

I drove the Albany end of the rail trail and was treated to many interesting sights. Happy to report NO after effects from the race or the flu shot!
I had to cancel my planned hike and instead spent time at Traders Joe’s and the mall.
- Tuesday – The rain continued in the morning so I postponed my run until lunch. And it was STILL raining. Boo!
My running friend texted me after work that she was going for a run on the rail trail so I decided to meet up with her for part of her run. Rain won’t kill me, right?
- Wednesday – A dreary morning so I decided to skip the run and wait until lunchtime.
I drove to run in town..
And then after work, I was free to meet friends for a walk.
- Thursday – Finally a rest day and a busy work day…
As I mentioned last week, ARE-sponsored trail runs ended so our group decided to continue them on our own. This week, we choose the location based on the cookie/ice cream truck being nearby.
- Friday – Another rest day!! An evening for mah jongg and viewing a full moon.
- Saturday – Race Day! Malta 5K.
This was my 7th time running this 5k. And I focused on enjoying rather than finish time.
Afterward, I headed to Zim Smith bike path to run a few more miles and meet friends for brunch.
I couldn’t stay long because I had a tennis party to attend (celebrating a friend dealing with serious cancer diagnosis)
And I got my 3rd COVID booster!! I’m so relieved to be protected (even if there are side effects).
- Sunday – Boating Sunday.
The lake would be my preference but the hubby has a tennis match and the weather looks less than ideal… so it may be a running/hiking day.

Happy Running! How is your running going? Any races run or planned? Has the weather been fall-like where you live? Have you gotten your flu shot yet? How about your 3rd booster? Eaten pumpkin foods yet? Please share.
Looks like a busy and fun week. Your pics are gorgeous. It’s such a pretty time of year and how about that moon?

It sounds like you and your friends made your own fun at your recreated ARE trail run.
Congrats on your 5K age group award!
I’m planning to get my flu and Covid shots in the next week or two.

Good for you. No reaction from either. Phew.

We also had a lot of rain the past week but I don’t mind it really. I am going to shower anyway! You never know what race day will bring. Speaking of that, I am not feeling ready at all!

You’ll be great. And lucky ass.
It’s raining as I run now. Feels great.

Congrats on another race (and AG award). I LOVE all your beautiful pics! I keep passing by a sunflower plant, and never think to snap a pic. They’re the “mini” flowers, so it would involve pausing and zooming-in…and who has time for that, LOL.

Did you get the new Covid booster? I want to get it, but I’m cautious because I had a strong reaction to the first two shots. I have to remind myself that feeling sick for a day is better than missing almost two weeks of work because I have Covid (which is what happened to me in December.) Anyway, good for you for getting both those vaccines!
Sounds like you had a great week of beautiful runs. I’m looking forward to the race recap!

Yes. Zero reaction. Got Moderna. My last 4 were Pfizer. I agree. I never want Covid.

Glad to see you got the new Covid booster. My recent infection counts as a booster, lol. I’m good for about 3 months, then I’ll be rolling up my sleeve again. Amazing that you don’t get any reactions to the vaccines. I always do. Flu shot is coming up as well.
Congrats on all your races!

I’m very pleased about the lack of reaction. But I’d get my shots anyway.
And thanks. Happy to be out there competing. Even if it’s slow.

The rain this week was insane but much needed here since I feel like we’ve been in a drought for weeks.
So cool that you were able to get your booster shot. The rollout of the shots here has been kind of confusing so I’m still trying to get clarity on where I can go to get it.

It was really easy here. CVS.

We’ve had a ton of rain lately but it hasn’t stopped me from running, even in a total downpour once. As long as it’s warm, it’s fine. No flu or covid boosters yet but soon.

I agree about the rain. Better than the treadmill.

Glad you got your booster! We are just waiting to be called for ours (4th ones but haven’t had one for a while) and I think we get a free flu one, too. Husband will get flu and pneumonia because he is registered as a diabetic, I get a free flu one as an over-50!

very relieved and both shots are free here! I can’t believe some people don’t get their vaccines.
