Let’s start with the Bad News.
I have run the Freihofer’s Run for Women 5k every year since I started running. It is obviously my FAVORITE race and I have never missed one – in all weather conditions, recovering from ankle surgery and even with a broken foot.
I have run this race (FRW) 12 times!!
- FRW 2019
- FRW 2008
- FRW 2012
And this year, I was named an ambassador!!
Well, I guess 13 is an unlucky number.
This year, the race has been cancelled!! 😦 😦
The Good News:
The Freihofer’s Run for Women has switched to a virtual 5k run for 2020.
That means that YOU do not have to travel to Albany, NY to run this race.
You can run the 5k no matter where you live!!
For only $25 or $20 with the code AMBSS5, you will receive:
- 42nd annual virtual Freihofer’s Run for Women t-shirt & bib
- A finisher’s certificate that can be printed out at home
- Commemorative finishers’ medal
- Coupons for Freihofer’s products
- Automatic entry into Virtual 5k Sweepstakes with great prizes!
The t-shirts, medals and coupons will be mailed to participants the first week in June.
You will be getting exercise and supporting some great charities.
Please join me!!
For more info and to sign up, go to http://freihofersrun.com before April 30, 2020.
Here’s even better news:
As an Ambassador, I am giving away TWO free entries!!

I’ll be choosing TWO winners on April 23, 2020.
I’m linking here since it is Wednesday:
Formerly the Running Coaches’ Corner, it’s back with new co-hosts Coach Debbie Runs, Running on Happy, Confessions of a Mother Runner, Mile by Mile, Runs with Pugs, and Fauxrunner.
Happy Running! Will you be joining me and running the Virtual FRW 2020?
That’s a pretty amazing race streak. How nice that they are having a virtual option!

Still sad. But not much we can do about it. Not enough dates for all races to be rescheduled.
Will you run it?

It’s great that they’re still offering a virtual race! Better than getting rid of it all together! 🙂

True. But not the same. 😦

Darn the unlucky 13! And when you’re an ambassador too! But that’s awesome that you’ll still have the virtual option. Maybe by the time the race comes there will be more positive news about COVID-19…

Let’s hope. Still seems far away.

I’m sad for you – that is the one race that I’d like to run, and considering I don’t even know where exactly Albany is in the state, that’s saying something. I love that they host such an empowering race for women each year. I hope you can be an ambassador for it again next year; that said, I feel like you’ve been an ambassador for years already.

Albany is about 140 miles north of the city.
You can virtually walk it this year.

Bummer! I’ve never run a virtual race, but it looks like I’ll be doing several this spring.

Oh, no! I’m sure that’s a huge disappointment! I know how much you love this series, but I’m so glad they are making a virtual option for you. Additionally, how great that you can now share the love all over! I’m entering right now!

So cool that your favorite race is having a virtual option. Much better than just canceling it outright. I entered your drawing. Keeping my fingers crossed! 🙂

I hope you win. Even so it is pretty cheap for what you get.
I was hoping that that would re-schedule, though. Virtual races are just not the same as you know.

Sounds like this race is to you what Dam to Dam is to me. This would have been my 13th consecutive year running D2D. It was scheduled for May 30th, but got moved to September 5th (WHEW!). I was so tempted (still kind of am LOL) to head to the Dam on May 30th and run the route all on my own….

I remember. Our races were always on he same day. I was hoping that they would pick another date but too difficult, I guess.

I’ve had so many races cancel or say they will try to reschedule in the fall. I wish more would consider the virtual option.

I know. I agree. It’s hard to reschedule. Just so many weekends. So they cancel.
They really want women to get out there. Hopefully they will.

Yes. If I don’t have to run it alone. But not the same. It is what it’s.

How exciting that you were chosen as an ambassador of one of your favorite races and what a bummer that it had to be canceled. That’s a fantastic picture of you wearing the shirt at the end of your article!
