Last Week:
- Monday – Day off from work. I could have gone up to the lake with my hubby but I just needed a day off to catch up – unpacking, laundry, grocery shopping, weeding, DVR, reading… TIME ALONE aaahhhh!!!
- Tuesday – Back to the normal routine. Walk to the park at work, a short recovery run after work and then dinner out with a co-worker.

peony time
- Wednesday – National Running Day! I had several opportunities to run today. I wanted to run with the STEM runners but since I missed my Freihofer Training group run last week, I decided to run with them one last time. I was very hot and I was very tired. Luckily our coach was not there so I could slack off on the 1 minute sprints.
Afterwards, I attended the GOTR thank you reception. I even won a raffle prize.
- Thursday – REST day and it was needed. I walked at lunch and then walked around the mall with my BFF after work.
- Friday – Another REST day – yes, two in a row. What a slacker. I walked to get my race packet and after dinner, I played mah jongg.
- Saturday – Ran the Freihofer’s Run for Women 5k for the 9th time. It was hotter than expected but still fun running a race where you know so many runners.

28:50 (recovered after a slow first 2 miles)
Afterward I ran 4 more miles (reluctantly) on the rail trail.
- Sunday – This was supposed to be a boating day but the weather had different ideas so it was a day to catch up on stuff around the house.
12 miles done with 3 runs and 4 rest days. (recovery week!)
This Week:
- Monday – 4 mile run
- Tuesday – rest, tennis
- Wednesday – STEM run (3 miles)
- Thursday – rest
- Friday – 4 mile run, mah jongg
- Saturday – rest, boating?
- Sunday – 5k race (with STEM) + 5 more miles
Once again, I am linking up for the Weekly Wrap hosted by Holly @ HoHoRuns and Tricia @ MissSippiPiddlin. See rules here.
Happy Running! How is your running going? Any races?
Sometimes you really do need that rest. I think I’ve gotten better at listening to my body, and am more likely to rest when I really need it. Which seems like a lot lately . . .

I agree. I do need rest but I feel so lazy when I don’t run. I probably should just find something else to do. I need to get my bike out.

I do too sometimes. But I sure didn’t move yesterday. Sometimes you just have to.

I had alot of rest days this week too and while they were unplanned, my leg/foot really needed them. You did a great job this week and sometimes resting is more important than doing something that might cause an injury.

I hope your leg is ok. I know rest is important but I feel lazy when I don’t do anything. I need to get that bike out.

I had a lot of rest days this week too. I think the Summer heat after a cool Spring may be hitting all of us with the need to rest a bit more and acclimate!

Great week Darlene it’s ok to rest, I know it’s hard for me too I feel like a slacker too. I don’t think we have a chapter here but I need to check and see if we have a GOTR for sure. It’s a great organization.
9th time to run this huh, is this the longest running race you attend?

Yes. I ran this one even before I was ready to run 3 miles.

Congrats on the 5k and a great finish time in a hot race. I can’t imagine running a 5k right now. I’m in FL this week and the feels like temp was already 90 at 8 this morning. Ugh. It’s much cooler on my bike. I hope you get to go boating this weekend! Thanks for your support of the WW Darlene!

I know. I was in Fl a few years and it was a sweat fest at 6 am.

We all can use a cut back week from time to time. Great job on your 5K despite the heat! My race times suffer in the summer months.

Yes, it’s much tougher running for speed when it is hot or humid.
