WRD for 8.9.26-8.16.26: In Limbo…

I’m sure you are tired of reading abut my foot.

So am I.

The leftt neuroma hurt during the race but at least the right Achilles felt fine.

Then the next day, the Achilles was sore…

Did I wreck it by running the race?

Last Week-

  • Sunday – So I went to the gym and rested my foot at the lake…

read another great book – The Calamity Club (when not the whole book it’s almost 700 pgs….)

  • Monday – Day off!

No real plans… just catching up after 3 days away.

I decided to see how my foot would do on a run…

it felt ok. Phew! but it was warm and I should have gone out earlier…

After my run, my friend Jenny wanted to go for a walk…

she has endless energy as she is training for Sydney… we walked over 6 miles!!

  • Tuesday – WFH this week and another walk with Jenny…

we walked around a nearby park

After work, I had a PT appointment.  We continued to work on stretching and gaining flexibility in my ankles/Achilles.

  • Wednesday – I had plans for a pre-work run with my friend Deirdre. She had to cancel because she was sick. Luckily I didn’t see the message and showed up.  And I had a great 4 miles with negative splits.

the weather was great so that helped… did 60:60 run walk intervals (with some fast runs)

At lunchtime, I went for a walk with Jenny…

much warmer than this morning… glad I got my run done already…

  • Thursday – Another early morning run…

a little variety, neighborhood and the HS track

and a PT appointment after work (my PT was very pleased that my range of motion has increased from 5 degrees to8!!).

followed by the weekly trail run (which I walked).

perfect weather & scenery followed by hard cider (at this orchard.)

  • Friday – DAY OFF.

The original plan was for 4 of us to hike and then have lunch and maybe more  hiking (a repeat of last October):

But for various reasons, we had to cancel and hopefully we can re-schedule for a Friday in September.

So I convinced my hubby to take the day off from work and we went up to the lake.

ate lunch at my favorite spot on the lake and relaxed until the wind kicked up (we left before the skies opened up.)

In the evening, I hosted mah jongg.

  • Saturday – Long Run and Brunch. We met up at Zim Smith bike path where is my favorite spot for a long run.  I had 10 miles on my plan but since I only ran 6.2 last weekend, I wasn’t sure how many I could get done…

My running friends decided to walk so I was solo…

And I did it!! 10 miles!!

90:45 intervals and I felt great…

We had a great brunch but my foot was very sore on the drive home…

Ice and the hot tub seemed to do the trick… no damage done.

In the evening, I went with a friend to my annual sunflower field viewing!!

❤ sunflowers!!

  • Sunday – Most likely just the gym, walk, errands, hiking…

This Coming Week on the Run –

  • Monday – run, walk with BFF
  • Tuesday – gym, walk, PT
  • Wednesday – run, tennis meet-up dinner
  • Thursday – run, trail walk
  • Friday-  PT, mah jongg
  • SaturdayLong Run and Brunch

This Coming Week on the Blog –

  • TuesdaySharing A Summer 2026 Memory
  • Friday – 5 Facts About a Runner’s Age

Happy Running! Training for any big or small races?  Anyone getting PT? Please share.

  1. sounds like you have some chronic foot and ankle conditions that you need to decide how to manage for the “long run” I love how you always make time for lots of social activities

    have a great week ahead!

  2. Nice job on the 10 miler! I would do the same thing you’re doing- run, and manage the achilles at the same time. I mean if we waited till nothing hurt, we would never run. Sounds like you’re very aware of it and you’re going to PT- increasing the range of motion should help a lot.

I like how your photos are starting to look a little fall-ish : )

  3. I hope your Achilles continues to improve. Did your physical therapist tell you to expect residual pain after your long runs and that it’s normal as it continues to heal?

What a pretty variety of sunflowers – I’d never really thought about there being other types than the standard that most people think of when they think of a sunflower. I have yet to go to a sunflower field and I always say I’m going to when I see your pictures each year.

  4. I’m loving all your photos. Especially the sunrises and sunflowers! I love sunflower fields but haven’t seen one in full bloom for years, I only see them in Italy and you need to go early in the summer to see them in bloom.

So sorry about your foot (both of them!). That’s some grit running those 10 miles! And good news about the increased range of motion.

You know many times you’ve told me “perhaps you’ll run again” in the last few years and I’ve said “oh, absolutely not” every time? I bought a pair of proper road running shoes this weekend. And, I run some short intervals. And I’m loving it! If my body handles it well, I may increase those intervals later.

Talking about PT, I always do PT! For the moment for ankle mobility, angry shoulders and a troublesome lower back muscle. And my brachialis for guitar playing. It never ends!

  5. Sorry to hear that your foot and achilles are still acting up. I hope it settles down soon. I know you don’t like to be held back! Just don’t overdo it…

The sunflowers are beautiful! There’s a field up in Wisconsin that I always want to visit. We’ve not been there yet, lol

  6. Sorry to hear you’re still struggling with foot issues. But you still did quite a bit this week! We saw a beautiful field of sunflowers while we were on that long group bike ride last week. I was thinking about visiting it especially after seeing your pictures. It seemed a lot closer on the bike ride though!

Glad you were able to convince your hubby to go to the lake. 🙂
