Yesterday I was in NYC. Not for work…
but to run an all-women’s 10k race with 4 friends.

Last Week-
- Sunday – Another day with iffy weather. It didn’t rain until the evening but it was too chilly to be on our boat.
I started the day at the gym and then got a lot of errands done including my nails.
I spent most of the afternoon in the garden and then we barbecued before the rain. Phew.
- Monday -I may be doing a lot of gym work this week. Since my race, my right Achilles (the good foot) has been sore. Better safe than sorry since I wanted to not limp through the NYC race on Saturday.
I even skipped my pickleball lesson.
I visited my granddaughter instead.
- Tuesday – Another gym morning (I use different machines when I go 2 days in a row.)
One week GOTCHA birthday for my new cat… She is still isolated from the others so all is well.
- Wednesday – 4th morning in a row at the gym.
I was lucky that my chiro Kerry had an opening at lunch so she could work magic on my right Achilles/ankle.
She said it was just tight muscles and that I was fine to run…
In the evening, I had tickets for a wine tasting/fundraiser. This was my 3rd time attending and again it was a fun event for a great cause.

There was lots of good food (and wine) and though we didn’t win any raffles prizes, I did win a door prize.
- Thursday -I skipped the gym in favor of the dentist followed by a test run and errands. (I went into work late…)
The Achilles? A little sore but I was able to run…
Being cautious, I didn’t go to this week’s evening trail run…
The weather in NYC:
- Friday- I took the day off to take the train to NYC. There were 5 of us going on this mini race-cation..
After we arrived, we headed to our hotel then to have NYC bagels for lunch. From there, we walked to get our bibs & shirts for the race and we spent the afternoon doing some fun touristy activities before we carb loaded at dinner.
- Saturday – Mastercard NY Mini 10k.
I ran this race for the first time last year…
and this year I convinced 4 friends to do it with me. All women’s races are the best and this was no exception. It was MUCH warmer than we would have liked but we all had fun.
After our showers and change of clothes, we celebrated with lunch followed by a Broadway show.
Finally, we had some dessert, grabbed our bags from the hotel and headed home on the train.
- Sunday – Gym visit and weather permitting up to the lake.
This Coming Week on the Run –
- Monday -DAY OFF, hiking, lunch,
pickleballdinner with some old friends - Tuesday – gym, walk, hair appt.
- Wednesday – run
- Thursday –trail run/walk
- Friday- gym, mah jongg

I looked at that race a few times over the years and thought, no way too hot! You are always a good sport with the weather. NYC is always a fun weekend

Didn’t expect this heat so early. It was cold last weekend. You are correct. NYC is always a blast

Wait, you left us on a cliffhanger! How was the achilles? Did it feel good? It must have been okay if the race was fun.
Ha, the new kitty is so, so cute!!! Do the other cats realize something’s up? Whenever I’ve tried to keep a cat separated like that, the other cats are always suspiciously sniffing around. But that’s a good thing- they’ll get used to the smell so when the cats finally meet they’ll “know” each other a little. I’m excited for you! I hope the cats love each other.

They were anxious at first. Now back to normal. But she is locked in her own space.
Achilles was sore but able to run slow. It was less happy after but it feels better today. I’ll rest it again. No race for 2 weeks.

Good news about the achilles, although tight muscles can be very troublesome. I love how you join so many races!
Your new cat is so beautiful, and has such unusual markings in the face, like a moustache!

Yes hence the name Dali.
The Achilles is annoying. Well what happens with it.

Your race-cation looks so fun! What a great group of running friends. I’m glad your achilles is doing ok (is it still?). Here’s a dumb “I’ve never been to NYC” question… how many broadway shows are there? Are there 10 theaters all with different shows so you always have a lot of choices? Or just a couple of places but the shows change very often? I’m always surprised at the number of shows you get to see.

Good questions. Lots of choices. But the shies that do well like wicked Hamilton lion king stay around for years. There are what’s new ones and revivals.
The Achilles was sore after but feeling better today.

Congrats on a fun race and girls weekend! Glad to hear your achilles let you run.
Your new kitty is adorable! When will you let her mix with the other cats?

Your weekend racecation sounds like fun! It’s good to hear that your Achilles hung in there for the race and didn’t cause any problems and it’s great that it’s feeling better today.
I looked up Dali and finally understand why you named your new kitty after him. 😉
Here’s hoping the weather was good enough for you to make it to the lake today!

Nope, rain predicted on and off… no boating. It looks nice tomorrow, of course.

it sounds like a fun race despite the heat! How is your Achilles holding up? Looks like a busy week as usual. Reading this post made me definitely want some New York bagels 🙂 enjoy!

It seems we both had dentist appointments this week. Good times!
Congratulations on another great race! This one looks fun and the medal is so pretty!
And I can’t wait for your new kitty to meet its’ siblings! They are going to be a perfect trio!

I’m nervous that they will hate her.

I’m glad your Achilles let you run. My peroneal tendon next door to my Achilles is complaining if I dare do my strengthening exercises, let alone run! A lovely mini-race-cation!

Maybe I shouldn’t. we’ll see if it gets worse.
