8 days away with friends in Naples, FL was fabulous.
I also turned a year older yesterday!
Last Week-
- Friday – First full day of my tennis vacation. While some took tennis lessons, I went on a short run and then played doubles with them after (very rusty lol). The weather was perfect for our first visit to the beach. I was in heaven (love relaxing, reading in the sun and floating in the Gulf). We ended our day with dinner out.
- Saturday – Mostly a repeat of the day before except for a different beach and a different restaurant. But while the tennis lessons were happening, I ran a 5k race. It was in a new location for me. The highlight was meeting Jeannie Rice (and winning my age group).
I got back in time to play doubles too. The meal tonight was French and a stranger bought us two bottles of wine. Doesn’t get better than that?
- Sunday – Tennis got cancelled due to rain but I did get my short run in earlier. And since it wasn’t a beach or pool day, we took a Trolley tour of the city and then had dinner and drinks at the movies. We saw The Devil Wears Prada 2. The movie was meh but the food was delish and we sat in lounging chairs. We also went out for ice cream afterwards.
- Monday – The beautiful weather returned so we repeated our usual vacation activities. We chose a different beach (our favorite) and had dinner downtown and walked around before and after.
- Tuesday – Another perfect weather day for running and tennis. Instead of the beach, some went shopping and some (like me) preferred to hang out at the pool. We had dinner at the cafe by the pool. Tonight was our designated book night. We discussed The Midnight Library (have you read it?) Afterward we took a Sunset Cruise. The clouds rolled in and we thought the sunset was going to be a bust. But no, amazing red skies!! And we had delicious ice cream after.
- Wednesday – Last full day of the tennis vacation. Last warm sunny run and tennis and last day at the beach. We had dinner out (of course) and then went to see the Carole King Musical. We all enjoyed it (even though everyone had seen it before.)
- Thursday – Time to head home. For once, no airline drama.
- Friday- I had taken the day off in case I had flight issues. But I decided to keep it. I went to the gym, unpacked and did laundry, visited the tulips,
went for a long walk w/Jenny
and played mah jongg
- Saturday – MY BIRTHDAY! Rain spoiled my day. I had planned to go for a long run with friends and out to brunch.
Instead I walked in the mall. My friend Heidi joined me for 5 of my 10 miles and we enjoyed brunch together.
And I went out to dinner at a French restaurant with my hubby.
- Sunday – Mother’s Day – run, Mother’s Day brunch w/family.
This Coming Week on the Run –
- Monday -run, pickleball lesson
- Tuesday – gym, walk, b-day dinner w/BFF
- Wednesday – run (training challenge group)

happy birthday! Your trip looks amazing. I’m sorry that rain ruined your birthday run. Did I read that right and you did 10 Mi inside the mall? Happy Mother’s day and hope you get to enjoy a wonderful day!

Happy belated birthday, Darlene! Looks like you had a good time in Florida (except the rain). I’m glad your trip home went without troubles.
The tulips are so pretty and that photo from the lake is SO beautiful! A walk there would definitely be my cup of tea.
I’m going to Sweden in the beginning of June, and it’s about time I start planning how to pack. For Sweden at this time of the year it can be all seasons in a week so it’s complicated!

Happy Belated Birthday! It’s too bad you couldn’t have been on a sunny beach for your birthday, but you got a lot of that leading up to the day. Glad you had (mostly) great weather in Florida. I’m looking forward to the race recap (were you dying in the heat???) Sounds like you had a great time- the beaches on the Gulf coast are beautiful. Congrats on your AG win!!!

Sometimes this trip coincides with my birthday. Still great to get away to sunshine.

Happy birthday for yesterday! And what a lovely holiday that was. I do like to go for a run on holiday but have only once gone on a trip to do a race overseas (my first marathon, so nobody saw me, though a friend was there in the end and everyone at home tracked me anyway!).
