It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
1.I runfess…
I am so happy that both my chiropractor and physical therapist agreed that I was not injured.
But they also felt that in addition to their treatment and the recommended exercises, the running shoes with a higher heel drop helped.
What about ALL those low heel drop Topos that’ve bought that past 4 years?????????
2. I runfess…
Yes, I bought new running shoes: Brooks Ghost Cool Max 2 (on sale at REI) and Wendy offered me hers since they didn’t work for her. Thanks!!

3. I runfess…
I was worried that eliminating one pain (Achilles) would create another that I worked so hard get rid of (Neuroma).
4. I runfess…
I have a Half Marathon scheduled for tomorrow.
But I haven’t made a final decision on whether or not if I’m doing it….
I’ve had the worst training cycle ever…
Between, heat, humidity, 5ks races, ankle issues and the “Rash”…
5. I runfess…
I’m not injured but I came down with an allergic reaction to something and an itchy rash everywhere.
The rash is mostly gone but I was prescribed PREDNISONE!!

2x a day
I took it for 5 days which ended on Wednesday. Since it increases your heart rate, I was told not to run!
The worst side effect was sleeplessness!!!
Is the drug still in my system and can I safely run 13.1 miles? Will I have enough energy to do it?
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Should I run the race tomorrow? Please share.
It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with bloggers, Me (My First 5K and More), Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, Runs with Pugs, and The Running Teacher!

And don’t forget to link back to your hostesses and visit some other blogs!!

Wow, Darlene, that’s a lot! Good job getting through it all – I really hope you get to do the half!

still suffering but it’s not life threatening so I will probably do it.

I have been on Prednisone before and was never told not to run! Maybe you were on a higher dose? Prednisone has many side effects though and so sleeping issues can be one of them unfortunately. See how you feel today – have you run at all? I would think you should be okay for the race tomorrow.

The Dr. was was pretty adamant about NOT running so I didn’t. I ran yesterday but I still have that rash outbreaks… so undecided.

I see that you were on a higher dose than I have been on. See how you feel but I would think you would be good to go for tomorrow .

Ugh, you have had a lot of obstacles to this training cycle! Why don’t you google info about running while taking prednisone? That might help you make up your mind.
I was curious to hear how the shoes worked out. What I can’t understand is, can’t anyone make a shoe with a low drop AND wide toebox? Why can’t we have both???

Oh I’ve googled and googled. And of course there are both sides. Which do I believe?

I think the shoes are ok. Now if I stay healthy?

I did several rounds of Prednisone years ago when I was having so many skin problems. For me, the trick was proper dosing from your provider. One doctor didn’t have a “weaning-off” regimen & things came back with a vengeance after I went off the meds. I hope all goes well for you!

If I do it, it will definitely do a slow walk run

Sounds like a challenging training cycle – perhaps give your body a break and take a pass on the race?
Also, I agree with Kim about the weaning off of prednisone. I’ve taken it years ago and without a slow come-down, it can be tough.
Hang in there!

Oh wow Darlene, you have a lot going on. I hope you get to do your race but of course you’ll be smart about deciding what to do.

Oh gosh! You got hit with a little bit of everything!
I hope the rash clears up soon! It’s so frustrating when things like that pop out of nowhere!
