Not sure whether or not I’m injured but since I didn’t have pain and it was no worse, I went back to weekday runs and preparing for my half marathon…
Last Week –
- Sunday – A bunch of my running friends and I signed up to run the High Lawn Farms Keep Moo’ving 5k.
As you probably know, it rains whenever I have a race and so of course, it was raining when I woke up. It is a long drive for this race and with no guarantee that it would stop raining, we decided to skip the race.
Of course, it did stop raining… BOO! I was disappointed.
But I caught up on some home projects and then went for a long walk with a friend.
I ended the day with dinner and drinks out…
- Monday – WFH until Thursday so I was able to start the day with a run…
After my run, I had to stop by my office so I had to get Starbucks first…
In the evening, I had my pickleball lesson… I had fun but not sure if I am improving at all …LOL
- Tuesday – My friend Jenny is training for Marine Corps so she recruited me to run with her early (5:30 am). She ran her own plan and I did my run/walk intervals and after we walked and chatted.
I even had time before work to soak in the hot tub.
- Wednesday – Started the day at the gym and then after work I went to set up for the next day.
On the way home, I planned to either walk or run…When I looked at the temp in my car and it said 96 degrees, I quickly changed my mind.
Instead, I went to a fundraiser…
- Thursday – Today was the first of two days of live teaching…
After work, I went to see my chiro. She said that everything looked much improved and we agreed that I didn’t need to see her any longer…
and then I had to attend my ZOOM STEM board meeting (instead the weekly trail run.) Since it was raining, I wasn’t that disappointed to miss the run.
- Friday – Back to live teaching… Nothing exciting except for my coffee…
After dinner, I played mah jongg..
- Saturday – Long Run and Brunch.
Since my hubby was playing tennis and I wanted to do my long run, we decided to go up to the lake separately
I was super glad to have Sherry and Stan along to drag get me through the 10 miles and a dark n stormy as my recovery drink.
Things felt good until mile 8 and then the achilles felt sore. I should have quit but I finished the 10 miles…
I relaxed my achy foot the rest of the day and read a whole book..
I didn’t go home til later that evening…
- Sunday – Plan on the gym and then a party for my MIL who is turning 100!!
I am going to PT this week and maybe resting the foot AGAIN…

Bummer that you skipped the race and then it didn’t rain (that’s probably why it didn’t rain LOL). I hope your Achilles continues to improve and that you didn’t overdo it on your run yesterday.
Happy 100th birthday to your mother-in-law! That’s an incredible milestone! Your Saturday afternoon on the lake reading sounds perfect!

I may have overdone it.
But today it feels better.

maybe its better to have rain than crazy heat for a run. Take care of your Achilles it’s hard to heal once injured

This weather is out of control! I always tend to go to things in the rain… I know that if I stay home, the rain will stop. That’s just facts. So at least I make the effort so then it’s the weather’s fault and not mine lol.
The raspberry coffee is so pretty! I think I’ll be able to swing by Starbucks tomorrow! I don’t understand why they’re making it so limited. Also, I need to learn how to make my own cold foam.
I hope you start feeling better. I’m dog sitting for two bulldogs and the one just wants to run. We do laps in the house and then I have to chase him and his giant ball around the yard. Neither surface is great for my ankle so next week will be fun.

Too far a drive for 5k in the rain. Closer I would have gone for it.
I have no patience for injuries.

Well, I was hopeful at the beginning of this post when you said you had no pain. Maybe ten miles was just a little too far- hope it’s feeling better now.
I heard the new CEO of Starbucks is the one mandating the writing on cups! They do it on almost all the cups at my Starbucks- it is nice to get a cheery message on your drink.

I didn’t realized it was mandated.
It’s fine today but didn’t run. Boo.

You’re handling that iffy Achilles smartly – no pain, so you keep going but know when to back off. Ten miles with soreness at the end isn’t ideal, but you made it through. And that dark ‘n stormy recovery sounds well earned! Keep listening to your body and good luck prepping for that half, Darlene!

Fingers crossed.
It feels fine today but I’m not running.

I’m glad to hear the Achilles is feeling better today. That’s such a tricky and temperamental area when an injury (or even a small discomfort) appears. I haven’t registered yet, but I’ll proabably be doing the IMT Des Moines 13.1 (mid-October). Other than that, I don’t have any races on the roaster…

I agree about the Achilles. Feels ok and then it doesn’t.

What a bummer about the race. But I’m glad your foot has been better. I hope the PT will give you some good news but also some help to make it improve further.
Happy 100th to your mother in law! Impressive age!

Hope the ankle’s OK. I seem to have got my Achilles calm now but I’m being very careful in my recovery.

I’m glad to hear your achilles is feeling better. But boo to all the rain! We could use some rain–it’s really dry here!
Did you get out in the boat? Looks like it was a nice day!

ugh on that tricky ankle! Maybe just overdid it a little? Your place at the lake looks so relaxing. How nice to have a little getaway like that! How long does it take you to get there?

We don’t live on the lake unfortunately. We keep our boat at a marina and reserve a dock on an island. Ih15 to get there. We used to camp or sleep on the boat.
