I was semi excited to get into a routine and start training for my Nov. marathon.
Then there was my work trip to NYC with excessive heat.
After which I came down with a cold.
Hoping things are looking up from this point on…
Last Week –
- Sunday – I woke up with a nasty cold.
I dragged myself to the gym and then decided that sneezing and sniffling with a lake view and a good book would be preferable to staying home.
- Monday – I had the day off from work and felt a lot better than the day before.
The plan was to go hiking with two friends.. but things didn’t work out so instead, I got some errands done and then ventured out for a run…
Then my friend decided that we needed an ice cream adventure
I planned to stop off to see my granddaughter but it was too early so I took a short stroll (to work off those ice cream calories)…
Almost walking!!
- Tuesday – WFH
and a trip to the gym before work…
No run as it rained most of the day… Rest Day!
The rain had stopped by the time I got out of work so I went for a walk with a friend.
- Wednesday – I dragged myself out of bed in order to get some miles done before the predicted rain.
The rain did not arrive until overnight and so I was able to meet my BFF for a walk after work.
- Thursday – Another early morning run…
and then after work, I participated in our weekly ARE trail run/walk.
This week, there was a BBQ/Pot Luck dinner after which was fun.
- Friday – DAY OFF. For my annual summer visit to the Saratoga race track with a former co-worker. We started going in 1984!!

2013
This year, we took a backstretch tour. Then we had breakfast and stayed for the day watching the races and betting. I won a lot of the races but since I don’t bet a lot of money, I didn’t win much but it was fun.
- Saturday – Long Run Day
and Brunch.
I had to rush through my run and skip brunch because lake time had to be re-scheduled to today.
I ran 4 miles with Barbara and then the last 5 miles solo (I prefer a slower pace for my long runs).
I relaxed the rest of the day with a book …
- Sunday – Keep MOO’ving 5k (in Lee, MA)… not sure after yesterday’s long run that I will have enough energy to run but there will be ice cream even if I walk!!
This Coming Week on the Run –
- Monday – GYM
- Tuesday – AM run
- Wednesday – PM run
- Thursday – AM run, trail walk
- Friday – DAY OFF, train to NYC, meet up with Cari
- Saturday – Ice Cream Social 10k. train to LI
- Sunday – visit with roommate on LI
This Coming Week on the Blog –
- Tuesday – Keep MOO’ving 5k Race Recap
- Friday – Ultimate Coffee Date

I did enjoy the ice cream… after 9 miles on my legs, I just walked/ran it slowly.

Lots of post-workout relaxing with a good view and a good book – sounds like the perfect summer!
What a fun tradition with your old coworker! Since 1984! Incredible.
Almost walking- time flies! She’s so darling.

Thanks. Heather is super cute.
Summer has been perfect if you like HOT weather.. not exactly what a runner would choose.

Well I think you should start betting more money! Think of the racecations you could take if you won big.
It sounds like you’re back on track and that your marathon training is going well. Good luck at the race today!

I didn’t run the race… I just walked/ran it with two friends.
I HATE to lose $$ so I hesitate to bet more than a $1.

Nice job with your long run – how fun to break it up by running half with a friend. Hopefully your cold is getting better by now? Way to stay active when sick. And yay for Saratoga! I hope to go back next year.

I love going to the tack once a year.
The cold is lingering but not bad…

I never keep ice cream in the house, but I had some leftover from Father’s Day, so I finished that off after lunch. I thought of you of as I was indulging, LOL.

I don’t keep it in the house either. I have no self control.

Good to hear that cold was short-lived! That’s a good week of various activities – and of course, ice-cream.
Your granddaughter is growing so fast!
Here we just got something that resembles summer weather.

Summer is the season for ice cream.
Do you prefer hot weather?

Yes, I 100% prefer hot weather! Always. I want summer weather in the summer and I’m not even picky, 19-20C and up is fine. I was aware of bad summers in Ireland and we didn’t have great summers in Sweden either, but what we’ve had so far this year has been ridiculous. We’ve booked a trip to Italy in September just in case. Today has been good though so maybe there’s hope for August.

I hope you’re feeling better. Summer colds are awful.
I don’t have any races actually booked at the moment. I’ll get there.
Your granddaughter is getting so big! Time really does fly!

What no races? lol. You will soon I bet.
The humidity has been bad. I feel for you. Since I know it’s much worse where you live

I agree, reading a good book while sitting in a favorite relaxing place can cure a lot of ills. Hopefully, you’re feeling back to 100% by now!
