This week’s topic is: Worst Running Habits
If you read my post consistently, you are probably aware of all of the following but here goes nothing:
- I register impulsively for races.
- I never warm up before I run or race.
- I never cool down after a run or race.
- I only wear a watch for races.
- When I run alone, I guestimate my run distances.
- I check the times from the past year of runners in my age group for a race I’m running in the current year.
- I rarely do any drills. I just run.
- Ice Cream is my preferred post run/race fuel.
Now I feel a lot better. Just cleansed my soul.
Happy Running! Any confessions? Anyone one guilty of any of the above? Please share.

Since today is Tuesday, I’m linking up with Zenaida (The Running Teacher) and Jenn (Runs with Pugs).

I’m also linking up here tomorrow:

with co-hosts Coach Debbie Runs, Confessions of a Mother Runner, Mile by Mile, and Runs with Pugs

I had to start warming up a few years ago! My body no longer gives me a choice. I am working on learning to cool down, I know it is good for me. I think ice cream is the perfect post run fuel!!!

I do run slower when I begin and if I’m with someone, I may walk if they do… but you are so right. Warming up is important as we age.

I also check people’s race times from previous years. I find it incredibly useful, it gives me an idea of how hard the course is and what my time might be like.
Ha, I thought your favourite race fuel was pizza!

pizza is before the race. (no dairy) lol

I do warm up, but I don’t cool down much after a run. I have been stretching more at night, but I haven’t used my foam roller in months. I think we all have some bad habits, but what you’re doing is obviously working for you- you run all the time and never have any (RUNNING RELATED) injuries.

I know I could do better. I was surprised at how many BAD habits I have. I even forgot a few like starting out too fast in all races. LOL

Ice cream is my preferred food in general.
I’m also a little impulsive when I sign up for races. I’m trying to be better, but…

I’m way too impressive and I get burned when I get injured.
Race less or stay healthy?

I only warm up and cool down if I’m with the Fleet Feet group I run with. I also check other people’s race times in my age group sometimes. It gives me a good feel of what the race is (probably) going to be like.

If I am with a group, I am forced to join in on their warm up and cool down. LOL

Ha ha well some of those would be very easy to change! LOL

I also check the age group results from the previous year as well! Although I’ve slowed down so much I probably need to stop doing that, lol

It is a bad habit. Good news sometimes but discouraging also.

I’ve definitely checked the race results from other years! And I love ice cream, but not necessarily right after a run.

It is a rarity but welcome on a warm day. Bagel is another favorite.

I don’t warm up or cool down before/after a race either. I love a good beer after a race. Yum!
