…as opposed to backward.
The ankle feels fine so it’s hard to hold back.
But walking down the stairs reminds me that it’s not 100%.
Last Week –
- Sunday – I mentioned in my last WRD that I always participate in our local free Winter races…
I had run 6 miles the day before and the weather was awful – cold, rainy – so I was just going to go the gym.
My running friend Heidi (pictured above) asked me to go with her. She said she would even walk the distance (3.75 miles).
So I agreed.
However, the weather got worse and she tried to bail.
“Nope, I said. You got me out here. We’re doing this.”
And we did. We survived!
We didn’t look as nice after the race. LOL.
- Monday – Back WFH so I had time to go to the gym before work
and was able to find some dry roads to get some miles in at lunch.
- Tuesday – I had to go to the office this afternoon but I thought that I might go to the gym first thing.
I did do my run afterward at UAlbany where the paths are always clear.
- Wednesday – Rest day from running and so I forced myself to the gym instead before work.
- Thursday – No WFH today so I had to run after work and again at UAlbany. Glad to have some company this time!
- Friday – NO WFH again today… nada except Mah Jongg in the evening.
- Saturday – Long Run and brunch day.. Searching for clear paths to get 8 miles done.
I was happy to find out that the Nisky bike path was clear in both directions. But I was bummed that my running companions were either sick or on vacation. So I tackled the 8 miles alone and then enjoyed brunch with two friends.
I was able to get al my errands done in time to go to the movies…
- Sunday – It will be a gym visit…
This Coming Week on the Run –
- Monday – Day Off so a run followed hopefully by a hike
- Tuesday-Friday – rehabbing my ankle and training for NYC.
- Saturday – Long Run – 9 or 10 mile run/walk, brunch with running friends, hair appt.
- Sunday – GYM or 4.5 mile local (free) race.
This Coming Week on the Blog –
- Tuesday – Worst Running Habits
- Friday – What I Love About Working Out

It’s nice to see you easing back into running! I love that most of our snow has melted. I also love the places that keep the paths clear for the runners and walkers.
How was the movie?

Only the college keeps the path clear. I’m lucky to live nearby.
The movie was really good.

I can’t believe your friend wanted to bail after convincing you to get out there, lol! Your cat is a cutie. The snow there looks so pretty… but I am glad it is there and not here! Glad you could get your long run done and having brunch after sounds yummy.
I have a 10K at the end of this month and hoping to train for a half marathon here in Nashville in April. Hope you have a great week!

A half in Nashville sounds like a great goal. I hope to be ready for one in April too.
My March one will be just gut it out.
I’m happy that the snow is melting. There will be more I’m sure.

So glad you’re making progress!
That snow is so pretty — but I don’t have to deal with it or drive in it!

Exactly. But it does make it hard to find a place to run.

You and my husband are about at the same place- he can run (he’s doing run/walk intervals), the ankle still isn’t 100% but the running isn’t making it any worse so he’s doing it. You’re running more than he is, but I think that’s because you’re more determined- he doesn’t have any races coming up (now that he’s not doing the A1A half, sigh.)
Ha, that happens to me all the time- my cat is snuggled on my lap so I CAN’T get up! i love the photo of her stretched out by the fire.

Exactly. I’m pushing myself because of my March half.

We’ve melted most of our 20″ of snow with unseasonably warm weather. I hope we don’t end up paying for this mild February. It’s so good to see you ease back into running!

Same. mostly melted thought I doubt we won’t get anymore. I’d be happy with a dry Feb.
Happy that I can run so I don’t care how slow.

You’re up to eight miles already! Great job! I’m so happy to see the muddy grass again, and Max loves wandering all over the place again. Your new kitty is adorable 😉

It’s a slow run/walk but I’m moving so that makes me happy.

We had a foot+ of snow come in mid-January but it is finally gone after a few days of rain and warmer temps. Yay to clear streets! Nice job easing back into your longer runs — I am suffering from a hip adductor injury right now so hopefully will be back running soon.

Good for you for making Heidi keep up her end of the bargain. I bet she was happy after she finished that she hadn’t bailed.
Your new kitty is cute! What’s its name?

Not sure she was happy. We were very cold and wet.
Her name is Diamond.

Diamond is adorable!! So great you both have each other 🙂
You made your friend stay in that race – you are ruthless! haha! Despite that weather it does sound like a nice social event. We really need those during the dreary winter months!

If it is playing in London, go see it!!!
It gets boring but it is nice to know you always have a lit up place to run in all seasons. Luckily, now the snow has melted everywhere… until the next storm.

Oh, wow! It does not look pleasant this past week!
Going downstairs is still really scary for me, all these years later. I hope it will get better.
I have the Gate River Run coming up in a few weeks. I might run one more race between now and then, but we will see.

Another race sounds fun. I haven’t run one since December.
This week was much better weather wise.
And next ….Florida!!
