It’s that time of the month…
time to join up with Coco & Deborah for their ultimate coffee date.
1.Over coffee…
I’d tell you I feel like I’m living “Ground Hog Day.” (the movie)
Last year, I registered for these half marathons:
-
- Feb – Publix Fort Lauderdale Half Marathon
- Mar – United NYC Half Marathon
- Apr – Helderberg 2 Hudson Half Marathon
- May – RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon
Then I broke my foot!!
I had to DNS the first three and only ran the 4th.
This year, I registered for these half marathons:
-
- Feb – Publix Fort Lauderdale Half Marathon
- Mar – United NYC Half Marathon
- Apr – Helderberg 2 Hudson Half Marathon
- May – RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon
Then I hurt my ankle!!
Obviously the first three half marathons AGAIN are in jeopardy…
2. Over coffee…
I’d tell you that three of my local running friends got into the NYC Half Marathon lottery.

Heidi (in the center) didn’t get in but is coming to cheer the rest of us with my running friend Barbara…
I was excited to have company training but also have companions in NYC and meet-up with bloggers, Cari, Erica and Zenaida…
Read #1…
Boo!!!
3. Over coffee…
I’d tell you for the last year and a half, I have had every other Monday off. I LOVED it! I used the day as part of vacations and mostly for hiking adventures.
Unfortunately, that is no longer. They told me I have to now work 100%.
I’m a planner and already have races and vacations booked.
The good news is that by the end of this year, I will have about 100 sick days…. and they said that I can use them for those Mondays that I need off.
3. Over coffee…
I’d tell you that there will be many trips in NYC this year.
One of our NYC teachers has left and the rest of us Upstate have to pick up the slack.
28 days in NYC (part of January, March, April, June, July)…
Fingers crossed that eventually these visits will include runs in Central Park and along the Hudson and East Rivers…
5.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that my next half marathon was supposed to be a redemption race…
In 2021, I ran it in extreme heat/humidity.
In 2023, I broke my foot days before the race.
I can defer my 2024 entry until 2025.
I guess my Fort Lauderdale redemption Half Marathon will have to wait a year!
I’m already looking into a Florida 5k instead during that weekend.
Happy Running! What’s new with you? Please share.
It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with bloggers, Me (My First 5K and More), Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, Runs with Pugs, and The Running Teacher!
So Join in!
And don’t forget to link back to your hostesses and visit some other bloggers.

Boo on the Mondays but yay on all the trips to NYC. Will you be there Feb 11-13ish?
Gosh, if you “just” sprained your ankle I would think you’d be back to running my March, if not February. Fingers crossed for you!

injuries suck so much!! I’m so sorry Darlene!
so you “earn” sick days??? that’s a wild concept to me. here if you are sick you are sick so… you just call in and come back when you aren’t sick anymore. then vacation is vacation. also if we work 80% the company can never force you to go back to 100%. I knew it was different, maybe just not to the degree of differences!
hope you can still do all the running and races you want to do this year!! or alternatives!

Oh, I’m glad you’re planning to run a 5k that weekend! My husband is trying to do a little running but it’s still hard for him. Maybe he can also do the 5k.
So your job gave you every other Monday off and then took it away??? That’s cruel! I’m glad you can use sick days. Still… that kind of sucks.

A big ugh (and a hug) on the Groundhog’s Day scenario. At least you know how to navigate those waters, and you know it won’t last forever.

That sunset at Chelsea Piers may be second only to the one at the Battery. We started not running even sooner than I remembered. I am here for the monthly especially since I don’t think I will be for your races. Bad local friend!

Bad bad. lol.
I accidentally went the opposite direction to my hotel last week and saw an amazing sunset at Battery park.
See you on Jan 17

Ugh. It’s so hard having to pivot and adjust plans, but you’re doing it wonderfully. I hope everything heals up and you are able to proceed with most of your plans. Sending love.
