1. GU –
My favorite is Salted Caramel but I will also eat Caramel Macchiato and Espresso Love.
I usually eat one every 45 minutes or 4 miles.
2. Honey Stinger Waffles
I will only eat one before a race if my breakfast was more than 2 hours before the run or race.
3. Skratch Energy Chews
I don’t often eat these but I have substituted these for a GU during a run… I’ve never used them during a race.
4. Nature’s Baker Fig Bars
After work and before dinner, one bar gives me the energy I need to get through my run.
My favorite is the plain fig or blueberry.

5. Bananas
They are a good source of potassium which is said to help prevent muscle cramping. Plus they come in their own wrapper. LOL.
I often eat one as an afternoon snack on days when I run after work.

One banana can perform miracles! I’ve used them as a pre-run snack in the mornings or like you in the afternoons if I have a late run. And they are always guaranteed to pick me right up!

I agree. If only they would stay ripe longer.

I love the espresso Gu. I’m not a fan of the caramel ones, but I do like the raspberry lemonade (which I think you said you hated.) But really, I can eat any gels and they agree with me.
When I start doing long runs again I was thinking of trying fig bars. They seem like they would go down well and be appetizing. And, I used to always eat a banana before a race- they digest really easily and have lots of sugar for energy.

Gu agrees with me so I am afraid to switch.

OMG, I remember GU salted caramel!!! I remember it being a big hit when it first came out. I cannot eat bananas but add them to a smoothie.

Bananas are so perfect. Although I like them super green. The energy chews are always yummy but I don’t want to chew them while I’m running. Hashtag lazy LOL.

I love Honey Stinger products. I have a finicky stomach and it’s one of the few running fuels I can tolerate. Bananas are great too.
