Happy Running! What’s on your Fall Bucket (in normal times)? Please share.
Lots of local races, mostly shorter, would be on my calendar in normal times. The weather is even perfect for them right now!
Better to live in the present than the past or future, though.

When the perfect is not so great. Memories make you smile. And the future gives you hope.
But I am using my downtime to connect more with people. When I was racing and running all the time, I didn’t make the time.

While you’re smiling and getting hope for the future though, you’re completely missing the present moment.
IDK, seems to me you connected plenty even when you were racing!

Oh, I love how you shared what you would have been doing during a “normal” racing season 😉 As you know, I usually have a full fall racing season as well…and it’s looking rather bleak this year. It’s more of a blessing than anything, given my stress fracture, but still a buzzkill.

No good time to be injured. But 2020. No loss there.

One of my favourite races every year was the 5k Turkey Trot in Naples, Florida.
Short, great fun and a pumpkin pie at the end.
None of that this year… Even the race would happen, we can’t travel to the US as the borders are closed for tourists.
Let’s see what 2021 looks like.

Sad times for sure.
LOVE Naples. Site of my first half and a normal annual 5k in May.
2021 will be better hopefully. But will it be normal???

In normal times I would probably have a race scheduled for every weekend in September/October and a Turkey Trot in November. I’m sad that there will be no in-person races this year but that just means that I won’t take in-person races for granted next Fall.

Exactly. I’m not in racing shape right now anyway.

Well I would have been going to the Wine Glass half in 2 weeks for a fun girls weekend. I am not in half shape anyway but they have offered some virtual options that should work for me so at least I can earn my medal. Will probably do a virtual Turkey trot.

Disappointed for you not doing wine glass. Can you defer? We’re doing our girls weekend anyway with no race. But still disappointing.

I was hoping to run a full marathon this fall. I’m kind of glad I didn’t sign up for one before the pandemic hit! It’s too bad you will be missing so many races.

I know. So sad. Hope you get to run a full next year.

Under normal circumstances I would have run a half marathon in Iowa, my 50th state on Labor Day weekend. This fall was supposed to be about taking some time off racing. So much for that!

So sorry about that. 2021 will be even more special.
Which race? Hope it happens next year.

The New Bo Run in Cedar Rapids. I know someone who ran it last year and had a great time. Who knows what will happen next year so I may not end up running that race for my half in Iowa.

It’s so sad that there’s no real fall racing season this year. I always enjoyed reading all your recaps!

So sad. Sad for you too. Or perfect to recover from child birth. Lol

Ugh. It’s so hard to think about this. In normal times, I would do Global Energy 10K (doing it virtually), the Evergreen Pumpkin Run, the Turkey Trot and probably the Pink Up the Pace 5K for breast cancer. Not in that order. I miss normal times.

I miss real racing! I don’t race that much but I miss a few of the half marathons I do in the fall. Plus my husband and I usually put on a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving, which we may be able to do, waiting for word from the city.

Oh no. I hope you can host that race. Even if I didn’t run all those races I still miss the excitement of a real half. With spectators, etc.

Wow, you had that many races on your schedule? Let’s hope next year!
I don’t race a lot in the Fall. But I think I would have run a few half marathons to cross off my list.
I will miss spectating the Chicago Marathon.

I used to race every weekend. Now I mostly train for halfs.

I think you have an in person Half, don’t you? I got an email about it, but it’s not a weekend I can get there. I may do the Cocoa Classic if I’m here. I’ll do Ted Corbett virtual most likely

Yes I signed up. But not excited because there’s so many restrictions. I may do Cocoa classic if you do it.

You’ll have those restrictions here too, and probably everywhere for a while to come. I’m very curious what the FLL Half is going to be like.
I’ll let you know if I’ll be here for Cocoa. Not sure how long a Thanksgiving break I’m taking

I have pts but I want to use for the night before FLL. You can room with me so you don’t have to get up early.

My fall bucket list included a fall marathon. I am running a local half marathon (a live one!) which is pretty exciting!
