It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
1. I runfess…
I did not run at all on my birthday. I usually run miles or kms to commemorate my new age but this was how I dressed that day:
Do you usually celebrate your birthday with a run?
2. I runfess…
Once I experienced foot pain back in November, I ditched my favorite Mizunos and bought:
- Altras (and returned them)
- Brooks (and returned them)
- Hokas (and returned them)
- Another style of Hokas (would return them but FF is closed)
and then ordered the same Mizuno Wave Inspires as I had originally. (15s on the left and 16s on the right)
Did you try different shoes only to return to your originals?
3.I runfess…
I pay attention to matching my clothes but otherwise I’m pretty lax about things. I have even worn new items in a race.
During my April Virtual Half Marathon, I got blisters on my feet. I wore good socks but then I remembered the
Karrimor Anti Blister socks (bought on sale at EMS) that I have been wearing for long races even during my full marathon.
And so I started wearing them again. My feet still ached but NO blisters. D’uh.
Did you pay close attention to comfort or fashion when racing?
4. I runfess…
I lost a pair of my favorite compression calf sleeves 😦
I tracked them down to having worn them last August (the advantage of having a blog and posting lots of running pics.)
I wear them a lot in the summer because most of skirts have pink in them…grrrr
Maybe they’ll turn up. Stay tuned.
Do you lose or misplace running clothes items?
5.I runfess…
I’ve been running a lot of virtual races. What else is there?
I only wear wear a watch when I run an actual race. And since I don’t really consider them races and don’t actually “race” virtual ones, I haven’t been wearing a watch. To calculate distance I either run where I already know the distance or I start my Apple watch and run half the distance and turn it off at that point.
The problem is many of the companies that offer virtual races want you to post your finish time.
So what do I do?
I make up my time. Since I do feel a little guilty, I post a very slow one (which actually may be accurate for the way I am running these days.)
Anyone else do this? Don’t report me to the racing Gods!
It’s Friday so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five linkup! Join in! Don’t forget to link back to your hostess and visit some other bloggers.
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Please share.
What’s with you and Chocolate Judy losing your stuff? 😉
I have to admit, losing one of a pair of anything is very annoying. It’s as if the existing one that is still around is accusing you of losing its partner.
Hahaha! I can’t believe you don’t wear your watch for your virtual races! You really got me smiling there.

I know. It would different if I lost one sock which has happened many times.
My virtuals are just fun runs.

I still can’t believe that it was SO cold in early May! I vividly remember wearing my winter puff jacket a few days during that time, lol.
I’ve done a few virtual runs but I don’t treat them as races – I usually pick a very casual pace and stick with that. For me, it’s more about giving me something to get my butt out the door!

I agree. That’s why I run these days. Gotta stay active.

I haven’t gotten around to reporting my Freihofers time, although I will — and of course I did track it. OTOH, no desire to write a race recap because not really a race.
Yeah, obviously, I’m missing stuff. At least compression sleeves are somewhat small. Capris, OTOH . . . I’ve no earthly clue where mine are. Maybe they’ll turn up by Fall when I’ll need them again.
Sometimes I run on my birthday, sometimes not, but obviously mine is generally cold & snowy. It just depends on how it works out.

I’ve done many many 5k virtual and no reports for those either.

Some of my favorite socks have gone missing in the dryer abyss. That’s irritating. I hope your sleeve shows up. It is crazy how we had frost and snow a mere couple weeks ago and now we’re sweltering in 90 degrees. There is no spring anymore! Thanks for ‘fessing up!

2 sleeves. How did that happen? Yes we skipped spring again.

I was really into the virtual runs at first and now admittedly, the novelty is wearing off. I usually run on my birthday too but I was injured last year unfortunately. I lose stuff all the time!

Same. Tomorrow will be my last 5k or I may walk it today.

I love Mizunos and so far have not had any issues with them. I hope you are able to track down your missing sleeves.
I would be wearing my watch if I was running a virtual race, but not sure what the virtual race director would do with that data anyway…I think you’re good!
I’ve actually stopped posting my distance on my running pics on IG, Do you think that is something people care to see? Should I start posting distance and/or pace again? Thanks for linking up with us! -M

I don’t anyone cares about time and pace but the person doing the run. As for me, if it’s not a real race, I don’t care either.

Oh, May 9th! The day that will live in infamy around here. I lost a bunch of annual plants to frost that day. Typically, May 1 is when it is considered safe to plant them out. Happy Birthday a few weeks late.
I love my Nike Air Pegasus and have worn them for years. One time, I decided to try the kind of shoes Hubby uses (Brooks) they felt like I was wearing big old wooden boxes on my feet. They were demoted to kick around shoes after about only 100 miles.
I wouldn’t worry about not giving an exact time at virtual races. Who is it going to hurt?

I wore Nikes for many many years. I still own a few pairs.

Wow, you were all over the place with your shoes! Did you have a plan or just try everything?
I runfess that yesterday I grabbed a pair of socks and put them somewhere and I can’t find them…

That has happened to me and often with my phone.
Believe it or not,I did have a plan with shoes- support and comfort.

I’m such a nerd for recording my times that I wear my Garmin even for my walks.
I hope you find your calf sleeve soon. I hate misplacing things. I spent a half hour yesterday looking for, but finally found it…

Only a big nerd for races. It’s strange to lose both sleeves.
