It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
1. I runfess…
I still ran ALL month even though my foot pain was no better…
but it was no worse.
2. I runfess…
I ran another Half Marathon without completing ALL my long runs.
3.I runfess…
Even though I was dealing with constant foot pain, I still registered for THREE more Half Marathons..
- May – Steel Rail
- September – Saratoga Palio
- October – Smuttynose

Girls WEEKEND!! YEAH!
That’s now SEVEN for the year….
4. I runfess…
When I heard that ZOOMA Bermuda Half Marathon would run out of medals for the slower runners, I wanted to finish faster than I had originally planned.
5.I runfess…
I almost registered for the 2020 NYC Marathon…
Yeah, I said that I was ONE and DONE!
But it is the 50th anniversary of the race….
I DID NOT register (even though I qualified with a timed-entry) because the site went down and I was working at the time…PHEW! Relieved.
The race was cancelled after Hurricane Sandy so technically 2021 is the 50th running of the race.
So maybe next year… (If I can conquer that foot pain and get back to running at a decent pace…)
It’s Friday so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five linkup! Join in! Don’t forget to link back to your hostess and visit some other bloggers.
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Please share.
You “almost” registered for the NYC marathon?!? I love it! 🙂 I can’t tell you how many times I almost registered for a race, put it off for a little while, then thought better of it. I always felt relief too!
I have thought about doing the Smuttynose half. I don’t believe it fits into my schedule this year, though. I am looking forward to reading your thoughts about the race.

I’ve run it & I had a great time even though it was a miserable day to race.Quite a few years ago though.

I’d love to see you. I know we’d get along great.
We’ll have to pick a different race. PA is not that far from NY

I can totally see where registering again for NYCM would be enticing. Glad you’re able to run without making your foot feel worse. Hope that latest treatment is still working its magic!

I think it is.But the test will be tomorrow – my first double digit run after the shot.

I am not at all surprised that you were going to try to register for NYC (or that you are running 7 halfs this year). I’ll be lucky to run one, but we’ll see.

Well it’s a crazy goal but so is 50 states LOL
And I love to race and don’t have to travel to do most of them.
It’s different for you because you have to travel & spend $$$ to run your half marathons.
Now that my foot feels better, I think I should have gone for NYC. 2% got in and I had a timed entry in.Live and learn.

I do like to travel, so traveling for a race just makes sense to me. Plus there are many states I’ve never been to & would like to. Obviously there’s been almost no travel for a long, long time.

I’d love to travel more. No time. But if I didn’t work there’d be no money.
But happy to just be healthy enough to run. There are plenty of races to keep me busy around here.

Yes yes. Lots to do in the area. Glass blowing in the museum (sign up early). Wineries. Hiking at Wakins Glen. Enjoy.
Finally my foot is getting better…

That’s great that your foot is beginning to feel better! You’ve got a lot of Halfs coming up to get ready for 🙂 And that’s definitely good news that the Bermuda race didn’t run put of medals.

That race was great. Hoping the foot pain is finally gone.

You are far more brave than I for running on that foot LOL But, we’re runners….there are other niggles and aches/pains I’ve run though. Sounds like the shot is helping, so that’s great!

It seems to be and my PT said that running would not make it worse. But not fun with that PAIN. I may be a little crazy.
Can’t wait to do a race without foot pain.

Aww, I remember when the NYC marathon was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. That was such a controversy! I am SO GLAD that they didn’t run out of medals in Bermuda! That would have been a shame to go all that way and not get a medal on race day. I assume they would mail it to you but it’s not the same!
I certainly hope your foot pain goes away and stays away for your upcoming races!
Thanks for linking up!

Ha! I totally get you on registering for the NYCM–I always feel that way when the Chicago lottery comes around. Then my brain takes over and reminds me how hard it is!

Yup. Glad I resisted. I think.

I wanted to put in for the lottery this year, but it just didn’t seem prudent with everything going on.
I haven’t really registered for anything right now. Obviously, I have to see how things progress.

Every year I look at Smuttynose but have yet to get it to work with my calendar – it’s supposed to be a good time!
Sorry you’re still having foot pain – what’s the next step to take care of it?

Got another shot. I think it really helped. Fingers crossed.
Still time to sign up for Smuttynose.

I’ve run through a minor injury this month too. finally got it cleared up thanks to a visit to my PT but I usually follow the “if the pain is no more than a 3-4 out of 10 and it’s not getting worse keep running” rule. Which i know some would call stupid. But I’m a stubborn runner.

I am too. Glad I’m not alone.

2026 is the 50th anniversary of it going five borough. That’s the next one that might appeal, but I had two weeks to claim my guaranteed entry and still wasn’t motivated. Maybe London or Marine Corps in 2029 (my 50th).
I runfess I forgot to order my cherry blossom medal. But I also don’t need one. I’ll borrow someone’s for the pic

Ok maybe 2026 if my feet old up until then. I’ll be 73. Yikes.
