Ultimate Coffee Talk – September

Confessions of a Mother Runner

Since today is the first Saturday in September (where did the summer go???), I am joining up with Coco & Deborah for their ultimate coffee date.

Pictured is Starbucks newest menu item, the Horchata Frappuccino

Horchata – OMG!!! Have you tried it?

Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I’ve been front loading my runs.  In other words, running a few days in a row and then taking a few days off.  When work and weather get in the way, I have get the miles in anyway I can.

Mon, Tues, Wed- run; Thurs, Fri – rest

Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I decided NOT to run the Surftown Half Marathon on Sept. 10.  I really wanted a warm-up half before Wineglass but the decision not to run was easy.

My RI friend’s house may not be done in time.  I am traveling for work until late Sept. 8.  So Surftown will have to wait until 2108 or 2019.

I’d tell you that I loved racing NYC so much that I can’t wait to do it again.  I want to run the Brooklyn Half.  It’s a lottery but Sue and I pondered running for a charity to make sure we get in.  Undecided?

I’d tell you that I am bummed that it is September.  I don’t feel like we ever had summer. Maybe because I worked and the weekends were so-so.  I LOVE the warm temps and I was never HOT this summer.

So I am dreading winter.  I am already looking for a way to escape to Florida.  March?

I’d tell you that seven years ago, I was still really into tennis. I played in 3.0 Sectional championships back then.

Last weekend, my hubby’s team played in the same championship (3.5 level).  Even though, I love running, I was having serious FOMO.

Over coffee…

I’d tell you that all of a sudden, Wineglass is less than a month away.  My goal for the race I think is to have my running buddy PR (under 2:18).  I’ve never run with anyone so I don’t even know if it is possible.

And to have fun.  Looking forward to the area-related activities – boat on the Finger Lakes, wine tasting, glass -making…

Oh, and the race.  LOL.

Happy Running! Got anything to spill? Share it here! Anyone run Wineglass?  Depressed about summer ending? Run a race for charity?

  1. I have not tried the Horchata yet, but I do have a reward drink to use …. This summer has been weird for me, I think because it’s the first without my son home — except for a few days in June and August, I do like fall though!

  2. I like this weather for running but yeah, winter coming does not make me happy.

I’m sorry Surftown didn’t work for you, but you don’t need a half before your half. Why would you think you did? Too bad you didn’t sign up for Pailo if you really think you needed another half!

  3. We definitely had some super hot days in Philly, though I guess it could’ve been much hotter! I’m glad that those days are behind and I’m looking forward to things cooling down a bit.

Running for charity is a really rewarding experience. I fundraised for the Cherry Blossom Run in 2016 and it definitely motivated me since I had so many people support my efforts. I think it’s worth going the charity route for NYC!

I bet the Wineglass race will go fine even though you can’t do your warm up event. You got this!!
